Do I need to start a separate book for my book excerpts?...

anyways...

"River..." he starts, looking into my eyes. I look at him for a moment, before avoiding his gaze.

"I'm so sorry...I just..." he says.

A tear slowly makes its way down my cheek. "I..I know" I manage to get out.

Gently, he brushes a stray hair from my face. "I love you River, but..."

"You love them more" I finish for him. Another tear follows the first one, then another, and another...

He wraps his arms around me, and I look back up. His eyes shimmer with tears as I lean into him, sobbing freely. He says nothing, giving me silent comfort, as he had so many times before.

After a while, my crying eases, and our eyes meet. I notice that his face is now streaked with silver tears.

"All I want is for you to be happy" I whisper.

Without a sound, he reaches into his pocket, pulling out a beautiful silver necklace. Gently, he places it around my neck, and I feel the cold metal against my skin.

"Promise you'll remember me" he says. "And I'll always remember you" And then he walks away, leaving me in the darkness. I feel a part of me breaking, and I close my eyes.
