| Ch. 13 | Warriors |

"Knock knock." I say, causing Nathan to look up at me from the couch sitting in front of his bed.

"Oh hey Hars." He smiles and his eyes light up a little bit. The Warriors game playing on the T.V. catches my attention and I sit down on the bed behind him, watching Steph Curry pop a three.

I lay on my stomach slightly propped up by my elbows, and burrow my nose into the base of his neck. I feel his head lean slightly onto mine and smile a little.

A loud cheer comes from the T.V. and I shoot my head up to see what happened. Only to knock my forehead against Nathan's jaw and for the both of us to fill a swear jar. I start laughing when Nathan looks at me and he laughs along with me. "You made me bite my tongue you little shit." He laughs.

"Tell that to the goose egg on my head." I shoot back, simultaneously laughing.

"So, do you want to come over to watch the game against the Cavs?" He asks as I move to sit on the arm of the chair.

"Hmm...well how about instead of here we go somewhere else?" I say, tossing my legs onto his lap with his arm wrapped around my waist.

"Somewhere else?" He asks, looking up at me with a slightly confused look.

"Yeah. How about the stadium?" I say.

"Are. You. Serious." He says, a shocked look on his face.

"I'm dead serious." I say, grinning widely. I yelp as he pulls me down into his lap, laughing. He squeezes me tightly in a hug and plants a kiss on my cheek. "You're absolutely fucking amazing."

"Pft. Me?" He nods into my neck and then takes a long breath. "Okay. I mean, whatever you say."

My eyes snap up to meet my dad's when he plops a pancake down onto my plate. "Pop's specialty pancakes."

"Homemade pancakes huh? What business party do I need to attend now?" I ask.

"Okay hear me out Hars." I nod, holding back an eye roll.

"This party is the key to finalizing a deal and its asked of you and Collin to both come," He pauses glancing at me skeptically. "With dates."

I laugh and look at my dad with a smile. "All you had to do is ask, Dad. You know I'll do it and finding a date won't be difficult. I mean I could probably just take Nate."

"Atta girl. Getting in with the golden boy of the area. Smart." My dad winks at me and I roll me eyes.

"Yeah sure. I'll call him later. When's this party again?"

"A week from tomorrow." Then his phone rang and he disappeared off into his office.

It wasn't a moment later that my phone rang. A call from none other than Nathan. I hit answer and pulled the phone up to my ear.

"Hey."

"What's up buttercup." His voice comes through the phone and I can almost sense a smile growing on his face.

"Well not much, I was actually just about to call." I put my empty plate into the sink and go back to leaning on the barstool, my phone pressed up to my ear.

"Oh really? And what about?"

"My parents have a business party and I need a date."

"Well dang, if only I knew someone who could go with you..." He trails off and I hold back a laugh.

"Yes, I want you to come dumbass." I roll my eyes slightly and laugh softly.

"Oh darling I would love to!" He exclaims in a very high pitched voice.

"You're such a goof." I say, "Oh and we have to go shopping asap."

"I'm free this afternoon." He says, finally sobering up.

"Awesome, text me a time and we'll go."

"You betcha."

I knock on my mom's office door and get a muffled 'come in'. I open the door quietly and sit down on the comfy couch next to the door, waiting patiently for her to get off the phone.

I look up from my phone as I hear a beep, signaling that the call had ended. My mom looks at me with a warm grin and lays back in her chair. "Hey honey."

"Hey mama, so Nate and I are going party shopping in a few minutes or so, do I have a budget?"

"Don't make us file for bankruptcy and we're good. This party is a big deal, you've got to dress your best." She says, tapping her pen on her desk.

I groan and throw my head back sadly. "Heels and all?" I ask.

"Unfortunately, yes. I would rather wear sneakers too, kiddo." She wiggles her feet that are covered in brightly colored fuzzy socks and smiles sympathetically at me.

"Well frick. You're lucky I'm this amazing, or I would've said no to this." I mutter.

"You're right, you are amazing...at using my credit card for payback." We both start to laugh uncontrollably and stop abruptly when the door flies open.

"How am I supposed to find a date with this amount of notice Mom!" Collin storms into the room, huffing and puffing.

"Collin I'm sure that—" Mom starts.

"I can't do it. There's no way." He complains.

"I'll go shopping for a tux and you go shopping for a date, deal?" I butt in.

He crosses his arms and juts his bottom lip out. "Fine, whatever." He walks out, still pouting

"Thanks Harley." My mom winks at me with a grin and tosses her card at me.

I get up off the couch, ready to go shop and shout, "I'll be back!"
