Chapter fourteen,

grieving is so complicated

Silence was surrounding them, the remaining survivors were sitting there, all why she had been processing everything, she was so confused within everything.

She couldn't process death, especially her bestfriend's death, it has felt all surreal to her. She was just here and now she isn't? How does that possibly make sense.

A familiar voice yelling, "Dónde estás, corazón?" Chad instantly averted his gaze, and seen Mariana passing the yellow tape, eyes in search of her daughter.

Citlali stood up from the ends of the paramedic vehicle as the voice of the woman captured the entire friend group, "Mami!" She cried out in search of her mom, tears were just spilling out of her eyes.

   Mariana had instantly pulled her daughter into a very comforting eyes before they roamed around the entire friend group, and swallowing down her very saliva when she seen Samantha Carpenter, but she was also soon confused that Anika wasn't here.

   "Where's Anika, Citlali?" She had instantly questioned her daughter who began to sob at the mention of her deceased friends name. As Mr. Kayoko had also been calling her on how Anika wasn't answering the phone, she felt so guilty.

   Citlali had gently pulled away from the comforting hug, tilting her head upwards with her lips quivering, "He killed her. . . she's dead, Mami. I don't even know if I should believe it, it's not real. . . it can't be, Mr. Kayoko was just calling me awhile ago, and I couldn't tell him. I can't tell him." She broke apart even more.

   How can she even tell her bestfriend's dad that his daughter is dead, he lost his wife a year ago to cancer, and knew how much it broke her friend and Mr. Kayoko apart. And, now he's all alone.

   He lost his daughter.

   Mariana closed her eyes with warm tears spilling down her eyes, kissing the top of her daughters forehead who kept sobbing, "I'm so sorry, Corazón. I'm so sorry, I'll give him a call soon." She had kissed her daughters forehead, again who kept sobbing.

   Mariana always seen Anika as a second daughter, she remembers the day her daughter came rushing towards her and introducing her, and the amount of play dates they had since a child, and the term changing to hanging out, as then the two girls would always seem to cause chaos when Anika Kayoko would drive them to wherever.

The only very thing that had been ringing into her head had been the call from last night from Ghostface.

"It's a simple answer, Mariana. . ." He had chuckled humorously, "Your life can be spared if you just tell her who her biological daddy is, or are you going to have someone else and go on play pretend Daddy, again?" He taunted her.

"Fuck you, asshole!" Mariana sneered at him, jaw clenching in disgust at the unknown masked killer, "I'm not telling her shit, I'm not going to have her assume the worst in her just because of who her biological father is!" All she wanted to do was protect her, and she had known this was wrong to keep such a secret from her.

The voice was completely disoriented, "Wrong answer, whore." The unknown person had told her, "You Loomis women are always, so self-observed. Though, you could've been a damn Meeks except. . . well, you know. He's dead because of your daughters grandma who had just felt the urge to stab poor Randy, and where were you?" He had let out a manic laugh before hanging up the phone, that had left her distraught afterwards.

Mariana couldn't help, but let the tears continue to flow down her eyes. She was in class when Randy was murdered, it had been Dewey Riley who pulled her out of class, and revealed the news. She fell onto the ground, and sobbed in his arms, cried until there was nothing left.

She didn't even stick around in that college after Dewey Riley had dropped her off in her room, so she had to learn on the news that one of the persons who was responsible for some of the crimes, especially her best-friends death, Cici Cooper had been Mickey Altieri, and lastly had to learn that Nancy Loomis killed her first love.

Randy Meeks meant so much to her. She dated him all four years of high-school, and then she lost him, the same way she lost Billy years later.

   The very sad and comforting reunion of the mother and daughter was then easily broken apart when Citlali heard her boyfriend speak, and sounding pissed about someone, "You've got to be fucking kidding me." He sneered in venom.

   Mariana had easily furrowed her eyebrows, "Who the hell is he yelling at?" She questioned her daughter.

   Citlali had shrugged her own shoulders, "I don't know, mami. I can't see remember?" She attempted to make a joke, but she just couldn't even seem to laugh.

   She felt so empty.

   Mariana rolled her eyes, "A curly head boy."

   "I think his name is Ethan?" She had cautiously mumbled out, and attempting to remember her boyfriends roommate, as he just gave her the heebie - jeebies.

Mariana narrowed her eyes at the boy.

The sound of her boyfriend speaking just speaking a bit aggressive, "Where were you?" He questioned his roommate.

Ethan sounded confused, "What? What?"

The sound of something that was being slammed was simply heard, all while Chad had continued, "Las night!" He shouted.

Ethan had complete confusion laced all over in his voice, speaking, "What? I - I Econ, and you know this." He had defensively muttered out.

Chad wasn't even having for a second all of this bullshit, so he had spoken again, "Bullshit, man! You disappear and my sister almost ends up dead!" He yelled out.

Ethan who had again mention about his whereabouts, again, "Dude! I was in a study hall with a hundred other people, you can ask any of them." He declared.

Chad had spoken, again, and had slowly stepped away from his roommate, "Fuck man!" He soothed his jaw as his eyes roamed to his girlfriend who was still shaken up from last night.

His attention was brought back towards Ethan who spoken, again, "My God. . . who?" He questioned his roommate.

Chad had just given his girlfriend a very saddened look despite her not being able to see as his gaze drifted back to Ethan's, a glare was fixated on his face, "Anika and Quinn. . ." He had revealed, all while stepping away and had headed his way towards his girlfriend.

Ethan began walking behind Chad, as he attempted to approach Citlali, "Hey, man step back." He wouldn't let Ethan get a view of his girlfriend who had wrapped her arms around his entire waist, all while Mariana watched the interaction.

She found the boy really strange, and it wasn't a good type of strange. He given her bad vibes.

Ethan had apologetically spoken to Citlali, "I'm so, sorry for your loss, Citlali. Do you want to get you anything? Water? Food? Clothes" He mumbled out.

Citlali had titled her head upwards, eyes bloodshot red, "I want you to leave me alone, I don't even know you." She angrily spat at him.

Ethan wanted to yell at her that she does know him, that they have a bond from the cafe.

He had just attempted not to say anything rude, and attempted to plead to help her, "But —" He was interrupted by Chad angrily yelling at him.

"Leave her alone, or I'll have you earn a restraining order for not leaving her alone," He spat at the boy.

Mariana spoken with her arms that had simply crossed, "Leave my daughter and her boyfriend alone. You're not helping at all, but better yet making my daughter uncomfortable, you don't leave. . . I'll have you removed." She offered the boy a sarcastic smile.

He ultimately left, all while Citlali softly whispered to her boyfriend, "Did he leave already?"

"Mhm." He soothed her arm.

Citlali had cautiously mumbled to him, so quietly that only him and her mom were able to hear , "I don't for a damn second trust him, he makes me feel unsettled, and if he wasn't here last night. . He could've killed her, He probably taken Ani from me." She had shakily spoken to them, body trembling.

It had ultimately made the two people that were simply beside her double think, and there can be a possibility that she's right, so it made them keep their guards up, all while Mariana had then spotted a familiar face that made her tense up.
