I Know It Won't Work !
Ariadne Schuyler x Percy Jackson

Dreams are just dreams, Aurora Schuyler tells her daughter as she rambles on and on about seeing monsters in her dreams. Ariadne Schuyler can see things that nobody else sees, and she doesn't quite know why.

The dreams and visions get worse as she grows older, and so does her mother. Being driven to the brink of insanity by Ariadne's constant sobbing and sleepless nights, Aurora Schuyler sends her only daughter off to boarding school with the same four words of advice: dreams are just dreams. As Ariadne gets settled into Yancy Academy, she can't shake the feeling that something would go terribly wrong there.

For a few days, her dreams are calm. She knows better than to think she's outgrown her nightmares, this was just the calm before the storm. She starts seeing a boy in her dreams, sea green eyes and disheveled black hair. The dreams randomly stop one night, and she for once has a dreamless sleep. This only further feeds into the sinkhole of her anxiety.

She tries to go about her day normally, it's her first day of the eighth grade, and it's going well. Until she accidentally trips the exact boy she was dreaming of in the hallway. Shaken up, she tells herself it's all a coincidence. Her dreams are just dreams.

She tries to keep her distance, a bit motivated out of embarrassment from how they'd met, but still something gnaws at her conscious. And it doesn't help that he and his friend continuously make pathetic attempts to talk to her. Eventually she runs into dream boy in the library, struggling with his algebra homework.

She takes pity on the poor boy, offering to help him out. He stumbles over his words for a good minute before agreeing. She learns his name is Percy Jackson and he's from Manhattan. Percy learns her name is Ariadne and she's from the Upper East Side.

From then on, they continued to schedule days and times to meet in the library, Percy to help Ariadne with Latin and Ariadne to help Percy with Algebra. By the end of their eight grade year, the two are practically inseparable spending more time together than they do with their own friends.

The skepticism that Ariadne previously had towards Percy had since vanished from that day in the library. Instead it was replaced with a friendly affection towards the boy. She told him about her dreams, and instead of making her feel crazy, he made her feel understood. Made her feel as if her dreams weren't just dreams.

As the friendship progresses, Ariadne begins finds herself letting her hand linger after a handshake a little too long. Percy finds himself getting more flustered around her than he used to.

With a confidence boost from his new friend, Grover, Percy finally asks her out on a date. Not without stumbling over his words about fifty times and Ariadne erupting into a fit of giggles, however.

For the first time in her life, she finally feels at peace. She feels seen and understood by Percy Jackson, something she had never felt before she met him.

Then he goes and gets expelled. Ariadne attempts to call him all summer. No response. She wonders what happened. Had she done something wrong? Then she sees him on the news, there was her answer.

Before she can get any closure, her mom moves her out of Yancy Academy and sends her to a whole new state. She attends Westover Hall, some Military School in Maine.

Two years go by, and Ariadne's horrid nightmares make a comeback. She falls back into her old habit of telling herself that her dreams are just dreams.

Then one day a familiar face arrives at Westover, one that she can't quite put a pin on. He introduces himself as Grover, she was certain she's heard that name somewhere before.

During a school dance at Westover Hall, as she's dancing with some new friends she had made, she bumps into someone. As she turns her body to face the stranger she is blissfully unaware that the boy is in fact not a stranger.

As her silver tinted eyes meet a familiar pair of sea green eyes, Ariadne is certain at that very moment her dreams are not just dreams.

i. Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson and any other characters in this series!! They are owned by Rick Riordan! I only own Ariadne and any other characters that I may add in the future.

ii. Warnings: violence, child neglect, etc...

iii. info: I did in fact age up the characters by two years, just because I felt like it would make the plot make more sense iykwim?? So in tlt Ariadne and Percy are 14, som they're 15 and in ttc they're 16! Instead of the prophecy coming true at 16 it would come true when Percy's 18!
