00. Flashback when you met me

Prologue, Flashback when you met me

Yancy Academy was a rather unpleasant place in Ariadnes humble opinion. There wasn't a class where she was genuinely interested in what her teacher had to say and the people, especially Nancy Bobofit, made her want to throw herself out the window.

As she sat in her Algebra class, pretending to pay attention, her thoughts had drifted to a dream she had last night; it was a strange reoccurring one.

Here's how it always went: Ariadne would be in a gymnasium dancing with her friend, Annie, when all of a sudden a random boy bumped into her. He had overgrown black hair and eyes that were a pretty sea green. His calm expression would quickly change into one of confusion (and maybe a bit of recognition) as he opened his mouth.

And that's where the dream ended. She tried to go back to sleep, like she always did, to try to see if the dream would continue but it didn't. Ariadne often wondered what this dream was trying to tell her, but she couldn't quite figure it out.

She was snapped out of thoughts by the sound of a school bell, signifying the end of the block. She got up out of her seat and swiftly made her way out of the classroom. She walked through the halls alone to get to her locker, where Annie was waiting for her. Annie stood there awkwardly, fiddling with her curly blonde hair.

"If I have to go through one more class where I'm forced to present in front of everyone I'm actually gonna shoot my myself," Annie complained as Ariadne shoved a book in her already over stuffed backpack. She closed her locker door and started walking to the cafeteria.

"Like, I don't understand the appeal with Latin if I'm being so honest," Annie continued. "And this new teacher doesn't even help either!"

Ariadne hummed in agreement. She had never liked the subject of Latin. It just didn't interest her all that much, but for some reason Mr. Brunner seemed to think she was some sort of secret genius in Latin.

"What kind of name is Mr. Brunner anyways?" Ariadne scrunched her nose in distaste for the name.

Annie furrowed her brows. "Dunno, maybe Latin?"

Ariadne shrugged as they entered the cafeteria, making line to get food.

"Oh my gosh wait," Annie said, her voice excited, "have you seen the new kid?"

"New kid?" Ariadne asked. "What new kid?"

"I don't know his name but I've seen him around and, oh my God, he is so cute," Annie gushed.

Ariadane rolled her eyes at her. Annie's taste in boys had always been... questionable, to say the least. "I highly doubt that, your type always looks like they've snuck into the planet."

"Hey!" Annie gaped

"What? It's true," she giggled.

"Whatever," Annie rolled her eyes.

As she continued to stand in line, she spaced out listening to Annie's ranting. She outstretched her foot to stretch, as she zoned out. She thought about the dream she had been having, wondering if she knew or ever would know the boy.

She got that answer quite quickly, as he literally tripped over her outstretched foot. All she saw was a blur of brunette hair and then heard the clattering of a food tray hitting the floor.

The poor boy had his plate of spaghetti all over his face and clothing.

The two friends stood there in shock, looking down at the boy who groaned and lifted up his head to see who just witnessed his utter humiliation. Unfortunately for him it was the entire school.

Ariadne dropped down to help him out, it was probably the least she could do. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry," she stuttered out. Annie handed her some napkins that she offered to him.

As he wiped his face, she could finally get a better look at him. Her stomach dropped when she realized who he was and her face flushed. His face flushed too, but for a completely different reason.

"Uh- Your-You're good," he said. She smiled awkwardly, her cheeks still heated. She couldn't believe her luck. What were the chances that the guy she'd been dreaming about for three weeks straight happened to be the kid she accidentally trips?

She finished helping him clean up his mess, and by then people stopped staring. He attempted to ask her for her name, but she had quickly stood up and walked away with her blonde friend. From what he saw in that short moment was that she hard auburn hair and eyes that looked almost silver.

As the days went by, he kept attempting to talk to her as she continuously avoided him. She hoped that maybe he'd get the hint that she didn't want to talk to him, but unfortunately for Ariadne, she would quickly learn that Dream Boy wasn't planning on giving up anytime soon.
