when i was at an all time low
peter pan flew through my open window

those eyes wide and evergreen
were everything i could have ever dreamed

trusting anything is better than this
i took his hand without resistance

him and i danced in neverland
twirled until we could no longer stand

the stars here glowed for us alone
how could i ever go back home?

he showed me life was endless sky
with gaping oceans that don't run dry

one day we flew too high by far
blinded by the sun and fell so hard

our endeavors to be young and free
overthrown by lust and greed

in a cloud of pixie dust
i misplaced my faith and trust

succumbed to dionysian excess
yearning for more made me a mess

there was nowhere soft left to land
but i had to let go of his hand
