♥️Chapter 1♥️

*Kimaya's P.O.V*

I woke up on Tuesday the same way as I would on any other school morning; to my phone blasting Eyes Wide Open by Sabrina Carpenter, as that was the song I'd set for my alarm. Groaning, I reached out and grabbed my phone from my bedside table, immediately shutting it off. Knowing that I couldn't stay in bed forever, I kicked the covers off and got out of bed. I didn't need to shower as I already did last night, so I just sprayed on my Dove deodorant and slipped into my school uniform. I then put my hair in a french plait and pulled on my pink bomber jacket. Our school uniform was so dull and grey that wearing a funky coloured jacket was the least I could do. Before going downstairs, I grabbed my pink and grey floral backpack and then I was on my way.

"Morning, Kimmy." My perky older sister, Priya chirped as I walked into the kitchen. She was leaning against the counter with a mug of coffee in hand. She and Rakesh were on a break at the moment so she was staying here, which I was obviously fine with. I loved my big sister to bits, and quite frankly, I was getting sick of being the only girl in this house.

"Hey, Pri." I smiled back at her, walking over to the fridge where I retrieved a carton of milk before getting a box of Lucky Charms out of the pantry. I poured myself the cereal and sat down at the table to eat it. As I tucked into the sugary combination, Jai walked in.

"Hey, Jai." I greeted my older brother.

"Morning, kid." He ruffled my hair as he flicked the kettle on, "Want me to drive you to school?"

"No, you're alright, I'm taking the bus with Liv and Gabby. Thanks for the offer, though."

I soon finished my breakfast and dumped the dirty dish in the dishwasher.

"I'll see you guys later." I said as I threw my bag over my shoulder.

"Have a good day, Kimmy." Priya said as I hugged her.

"And be good." Jai teased as he kissed my forehead.

"You know I always am." I grinned sweetly, which made them both chuckle. Dad had already gone off to the factory so I just left straight after saying goodbye to my siblings. In a matter of minutes, I was walking up to Liv and Gabby as I arrived at the bus stop.

"Heeey." I greeted my two best friends, dragging out the word.

"Hey, Kim." Gabby laughed at my weirdness and so did Liv.

"Oi, don't look at me like that." I playfully glared at them both.

"Not our fault you're such a weirdo." Gabby smirked, giving me a gentle shove. I giggled and shoved her back.

"Guys, the bus is here. Come on." Liv chuckled at both of us before we all climbed onto the bus and found somewhere to sit together. We continued to laugh and mess around with each other until the bus arrived at school.

"Oh, shoot!" Gabby suddenly groaned as we were on our way to tutor time.

"What's up?" Liv asked.

"I completely forgot to do the French homework." She explained.

"Well, don't ask me; I almost definitely got all the questions wrong." Liv said.

"You can copy mine if you want, Gabs." I offered.

"Really?"

"Yeah, we can just go do it in the library at lunch."

"Oh, Kimmy, you're a lifesaver." Gabby put her arm around me and gave me a squeeze as we walked into Mr Downs' classroom and I couldn't help but smile.

Before long, it was lunchtime and Gabby and I were heading to the library.

"Thank you so much for doing this, Kim." Gabby said as we found a free table.

"You don't have to thank me, Gabs, what are best friends for? Plus, if I won't save you from getting murdered by Ms Vignerie, who will?"

"True, that woman has some serious anger issues."

"I know right. Like, what crawled up her ass and died?" I asked, before we both broke into a fit of giggles.

"That's a good one, Kimmy."

"I'm serious, though, she's always acting like she's got something shoved up there." I tried to say with a straight face, but failed as we both dissolved into laughter again, only to be shushed by the librarian.

After we got over our giggles, we finally managed to focus long enough for me to help Gabby with her French homework. And by "help" I mean let her copy it, but change a couple of things so it wasn't obvious that she copied my work. Once we were finished, we just ended up sat in the library, chatting about everything and nothing until Liv came and found us. She joined in with our conversation and after another fifteen minutes off laughter, the bell rang.

"Time to go deal with Ms Vignerie and her stuck up ass." Gabby mumbled to me and I couldn't help but start giggling, which then set her off as well.

"I'm sorry, did I just hear you say something about Ms Vignerie's ass?" Liv asked us, which only made me and Gabby start laughing more. We ended up getting shushed by the librarian again, but we didn't care. Of all the inside jokes Gabby and I had, this was definitely my favourite.

We all went to Ms Vignerie's class and as usual, she was a moody old bitch, but every time she lost her temper me and Gabby ended up quietly giggling with each other because all we could think about was our conversation in the library. Ms Vignerie caught us laughing and told us to shut up or she'd give us detention, but luckily she didn't know what we were laughing about. We'd end up in a lot more trouble if she did.

After French, we had break, then we had English and after English, school was over. After quickly getting our stuff from our locker, me, Gabby and Liv got the bus home and once we were back in the village, we had to go our separate ways home.

"I'm home!" I called into the house but when I didn't get a response, I figured everyone must be at the factory and sighed, going into the kitchen. I worked at the factory sometimes as well, but only on Saturdays. Dad didn't want me to do any more than that because he was worried about it effecting my school work, and even when I was allowed to work, I couldn't do anything more that pack the sweets. Honestly, it sucks only being fourteen.

Anyways, I dumped my bag on one of the dining chairs and opened the fridge. I took out a carton of milk and poured myself a glass, before grabbing a packet of Oreos. Sure, it wasn't the healthiest after school snack, and if anyone else was home they'd probably tell me to get some fruit instead or something, but nobody else was home and I needed the energy if I was going to be spending the next god knows how long doing homework.

I started with physics homework, which was literally torture, but luckily my suffering didn't last too long as I got a FaceTime call from Nikhil halfway through. I answered in a heartbeat and a huge smile spread across my face as both Nikhil and Molly's faces popped up. Ever since Nikhil moved to Canada, not a day has gone by that I don't miss him like crazy, but we FaceTime each other almost everyday. Don't tell Jai, but Nikhil has always been my favourite brother. Don't get me wrong, I love Jai to pieces, but I just feel like Nikhil understands me more, I feel like I can talk to Nikhil about almost anything, and I don't really get that same feeling with Jai. Maybe it's just because Nikhil's younger than Jai so he's closer to my age, even if it is only by six years. And as for Molly, well, how can I not adore her?!

"Hey, Kimmy." Nikhil greeted me with a grin.

"Hey! And hello to you, missy." I greeted my brother and his daughter with a giggle.

"Hi, Kimmy." Molly mumbled.

"She wanted to see her favourite aunty."

"I won't tell Priya you said that." I laughed and so did Nikhil.

"So, what are you up to, then, pipsqueak?" He curiously asked.

"Homework." I sighed, "Kill me now."

Nikhil chuckled at that, "Oh, come on, it can't be that bad."

"Oh, yes, it can be." I said, before I got an idea and perked up, "But it wouldn't be so bad if you helped me and gave me the answers?"

"No, Kim." Nikhil shook his head.

"Why not?" I whined.

"How are you ever going to learn if I just tell you all the answers?"

"Please, Nikki, for me?" I jutted my bottom lip out and gave him puppy dogs eyes. I knew he couldn't resist this face.

"Oh, fine! I'll help you, but I'm not doing all the work."

"Yay! Thanks, Nikki." I grinned, mostly because I was chuffed with myself for breaking him. Looks like I haven't lost my touch as the cute little sister.

So, with Nikhil's help, I ended up getting my homework finished a lot quicker than I thought.

"Daddy, I hungry." Molly started to get restless just as I was finishing up.

"Alright, baby." Nikhil said, before looking at me, "I better go put her tea on. I'll call you tomorrow, yeah?"

"Yeah, alright. Love you."

"Love you too." He blew me a kiss and I blew one back before we ended the call and I was left to spend the rest of the evening alone.
