Chapter 16

(skip, one week later)

Yoo Ri's P.O.V

I woke up, in a place I wasn't really familiar with. But that's when I remembered, this is the place where I'm staying, from now on.

This house was 2 levels, much smaller than my previous house, but it was fine.

I lived alone in this house. Mdm Kwon lived at the opposite one, so she could keep an eye on me.

This feeling was really, weird. It's been a few days since I've been stuck in this house. Maybe it's time for me to really leave and check what's in the outside?

I never stepped out of this house. Because I didn't dare to. But today, I was in the right mood to go. I need to see where I'm going to be living in from now on.

However, I suddenly thought of... Jimin. I lost him. He's gone. My parents sent him back to where he was supposed to be.

News quickly spread that Jimin was back with BTS. But no one ever knew why he was gone. Jimin didn't reveal anything.

It still hurts to know that, we won't be seeing each other any longer.

I don't want to see him any longer either. It'll hurt me more.

I still miss him, it's true.

School starts the next day. And I'm clueless of what's outside.

Maybe it's really time for me to leave and check the outside world. I should.

"Yes Mdm Kwon, I'll make sure to be safe." I assured Mdm Kwon, since she saw me leaving my house.

"Just, take your time. I know you're not exposed to this. I'm sorry that I can't go with you." She apologized and I nodded.

"I'll go now, bye!" I waved as I awkwardly walked off. Mdm Kwon waved back, but she seemed worried.

And I turned around. I looked up at the sky. The clear sky. No glass was blocking me anymore. It was just, clear.

I looked back down, and I saw buildings. I saw people. I saw... birds. Animals? This is my first time seeing them.

Pigeons, they were all in a group. I was more than just fascinated.

I took gradual steps, towards a nearby area, where I assumed was the park.

And that's when I came across a stranger. A boy around my age, was bringing his pet dog out for a walk.

The dog was unbelievably adorable.

The boy was walking towards my direction, while I was walking to his.

My eyes couldn't leave the dog, because I was shocked to see one for the first time.

Everything is real.

When I was closer to the dog, the dog instantly ran over to me, and started to lick my shoes.

Startled, I staggered back slowly, with my eyes widened.

"Oh no, I'm sorry, did she startle you?" The stranger asked me as he carried his dog into one of his hands.

I didn't answer, since I was taken aback by the shock. I've never felt this before. It's a real dog. A dog just made contact with me...

"Miss?" The stranger asked while leaning down to my eye level. He tried to look into my eyes for attention, but I was too much in shock.

"Are you fine?" He waved his free hand in front of my face.

"Did my dog scare you too much?" He sheepishly asked me.

"Uhm, maybe I'll bring you over to the bench at the park? So you can calm down or something?" The boy awkwardly said, and I still didn't reply.

"I'll take that as an okay." He said, and soon enough, he pulled me by my hand, towards the direction of the park.

I looked at his hand grabbing onto my arm, then I blinked. He's a stranger.

"W-Where...?" I muttered as I looked up at him.

He turned to look at me, but still not stopping his tracks.

"I think I startled you too much so I'll bring you to sit at the park to calm down." He smiled back at me. That smile seemed to assure me.

"You don't talk much, do you?" He asked me when we stopped in front of the road. We were waiting for the traffic light to turn green apparently.

I looked at all the cars and motor cycles that passed by, and I was amazed. How did all of these vehicles work so fast?

"Are you new here? You seem like this is the first time you're seeing all this." The boy curiously asked.

"It's a long story..." I softly said.

"I have a lot of time! Tell me about the story when we reach the park then!" He said.

"You'll get confused." I scoffed softly for him not to hear.

"Sit." He said, showing me the bench.

I sat down, and continued looking around. This was a completely new place. I've never seen this before.

After the boy tied his dog's leash to the lamp post, he quickly went to sit down next to me.

I eyed at him, curious of his actions.

"Are you fine now? You still seem quite shocked. Are you scared of dogs perhaps?" The boy asked me.

"What's... what's your name?" I hesitantly asked. I needed to know his name. I can't be talking to someone whom I don't even know his name.

"Hyun Woo. Lee Hyun Woo." He smiled genuinely at me.

I guess... he's my second friend. The second person I've ever became friends with.

"Deeply sorry. My dog only licks people she likes, I guess she liked your scent. But I'm sorry if she scared you. Are you alright now?" He apologetically said.

"Is that dog real?" I asked, pointing at his dog. Hyun Woo looked at me, furrowing his eyebrows. He was confused.

"Of course it is. Have you never seen one before?" He knotted his eyebrows while he asked.

I shook my head, frowning a little.

"No way. You must be kidding me. You've never seen a dog before?" He asked me and I shook my head again.

"Who are you and where did you come from?" Hyun Woo asked me with widened eyes.

"My name is... Jung Yoo Ri. I'm not sure where I came from..." I replied.

"You... you're not an alien, are you?" Hyun Woo asked as he went closer to me.

"Of course not!" I determinedly said.

"Then?" He continued asking.

"It's a long story..." I murmured.

"Then do your story telling. I'm listening." Hyun Woo chuckled.

"You won't understand." I softly said.

"Why should I tell you?" I raised an eyebrow in suspicion.

"Because I'm curious about you. You literally froze because a dog licked you. There must be something about it?" Hyun Woo explained.

"But I don't know you..." I said, as if a whisper.

"Just tell me since I'm already here. I'm great at listening to stories too." He joked.

"You wouldn't believe my story even if I told you." I sighed.

"You never tried, so you can't assume that I won't believe you. I'm honestly a friendly person!" Hyun Woo said with a bright smile.

"Are you usually like this though? You still seem shocked from just now ever since my dog licked you." He asked and I shook my head.

"Maybe if you stop interrupting me, I can easily tell my story and you will understand why I'm like this." I sarcastically remarked.

"Okay, sorry. Please start your story then." Hyun Woo snickered, seeing how annoyed I can get.

"Wait, so you're telling me that this is the first time you've came out? This is the first dog you've ever seen?" Hyun Woo asked in disbelief.

"For the 10th time, yes! You can't believe it, can you?" I sighed.

"Well, it's weird..." he pouted.

"And that's exactly what I meant by, you'll never believe me." I said.

"I believe you. It's just, scary. You've never been exposed to all these things." He replied.

"What do you do here? You're... an outsider. What are you doing here, outside, and not at home? Isn't it scary to be living outside?" I asked him, and he chuckled.

"The outside world isn't scary. In fact, it's great. Look around you, isn't it beautiful to see nature like this?" He said as he took in a big breath.

He's optimistic... he's the first person to ever tell me that the outside world is great...

"Nature... it's colourful." I muttered.

"Can I ask you something?" He snapped me into reality with those words.

"Go ahead." I said, looking down at my feet.

"Am I the first stranger you've ever talked to?" He curiously asked me.

I froze when he asked that. I was reminded of, Jimin.

"If I had to be completely honest, you're the second." I pursed my lips after speaking.

"Who's the first..?" He queried.

"I prefer not to say anything about that person." I said, and he immediately understood.

"So, am I your first, or second friend?" he asked me with knotted eyebrows.

"I'd say... you're my only friend for now." I said, but it hurt me. Jimin was my first friend, first boyfriend, but now he's just, nothing to me.

"Fair enough! Maybe I can bring you around." He suggested.

I stopped my tiny movements when he said that. He would really do that for me?

"I mean... if you don't mind? I like making new friends and learning more about them. If you're not comfortable... it's fine." He said.

It's cute how he's scared that I would reject his offer...

"I'm fine with it. I need someone to bring me around this place after all. I might get lost in this big place anyways..." I sheepishly said.

"You have time, don't you?" Hyun Woo genuinely asked.

"I... I do." I hesitated, but answered.

"Then let's go somewhere!" He excitedly said as he put out his hand.

I looked at his palm, then looked up at him in confusion.

"Oh, sorry, I thought you didn't mind holding my hand." He awkwardly said, and he put his hand in his pocket.

"Huh? No, it's fine." I said. He raised an eyebrow, and I silently cursed at myself for being so stupid.

"Ignore that." I sighed.

Both of us stood up, and I gazed at the scenery here.

"Does your dog have a name?" I curiously asked Hyun Woo when I saw him untying the leash from the lamp post.

"Of course. I named her Gongju. She's a pretty terrier." He smiled.

"Gongju... as in princess?" I asked and he nodded.

"Why don't you pet her? She doesn't bite. You've never touched an animal before, right?" He suggested as he carried his dog up.

I looked at it, and blinked, not knowing what exactly to do.

"Give me your hand." He said, and I put my hand out.

He grabbed my hand, and then pulled it closer to the dog. I've never touched one before...

"Trust me, she won't hurt you." He told me.

Eventually, he placed my hand onto the head of this little puppy.

And that weird feeling of fur, I've never really felt it before. It was so, soft, and smooth.

Hyun Woo let go of my hand when he realised that I was already getting used to it. I wasn't scared to touch it.

The little terrier seemed to like it, and I continued rubbing its head. I couldn't help but smile when I saw how much this puppy was enjoying it.

"Gongju. What a pretty name for a pretty dog." I softly said.

I looked at him, and smiled. He was shy, and it was cute.

"You said you'll bring me around, right? So where are we going first?" I asked.

"The thing is... I can't bring Gongju to just anywhere. I have to bring her home before bringing you around... Is it okay if you wait for me here? I live really near!" He said but I raised an eyebrow.

"Why can't this little dog go with us?" I pouted as I looked at Gongju.

"You see, animals aren't allowed in places like shopping malls, restaurants etc." Hyun Woo explained.

"That's crazy." I muttered under my breath.

"That's the outside world, the world you haven't seen before." He said.

"I don't want to stay here alone... I'll just follow you to where ever you live. You said you lived nearby anyways." I said, and placed my hands in my pockets.

All these buildings and houses, he lived in one of them.

"Yup, over there. The direction where you were coming from. Unit 34." He said, and I looked at where he was pointing at.

It was the one right next to mine.

"There? The one with two levels? The orange one?" I asked and he plainly nodded.

"Yeah, why do you seem so shocked? Is it something new to you too?" He asked back.

"No. But hello, neighbour." I smiled at him and waved.

He furrowed his eyebrows, wondering what in the world I was saying. It took him a while, before he knew what I meant.

"You're the new neighbour!?!" He exclaimed while dropping his jaw in disbelief.

"I moved in a few days ago, but I never left the house." I sheepishly said.

"I only saw a lady going in and out. It was mysterious. Now I understand. I guess that's your guardian?" He chuckled.

"Yeah... so I guess I'm following you." I awkwardly said and he nodded.

"Do you want me to drive? Or we could walk to the mall instead..." he suggested.

"I don't mind either." I said.

"Well, hop in, I guess." he said as he opened the car door.

It was my second time, getting into a car. The first was a few days ago, when I was sent here.

I took hesitant steps towards the car, and Hyun Woo realised that.

"Or are you more comfortable with walking? I suppose you've never really been in a car before...?" He worriedly said.

"Once. This is my second time." I stated.

"You shouldn't be so scared. The mall is a 5 minute ride away. Trust me, I have a driver's license." He snickered with an adorable smile.

What am I even saying? I can't be calling him cute...

"Thank you then." I smiled.

Soon enough, I got in his car, and tried to get comfortable. It was weird, sitting in a vehicle.

When Hyun Woo got into the driver's seat, he looked at me.

"Don't you have to inform your assistant that you're going somewhere with me?" He asked as he tilted his head.

"I don't think so. As long as I get back by 10." I said and he nodded.

"10? That's extremely late for a girl like you." He snickered, and the engine started. I got startled by it, and it only made Hyun Woo laugh.

"You're cute." He muttered.

"Huh?" I asked, thinking that I heard wrongly.

"Nothing." He smiled to assure me.

"So, about you coming here to study, which school are you going to?" Hyun Woo asked.

"Seoul High." I answered, and he giggled.

"Funny. That's my school." He chuckled.

"Y-You study there too? I honestly have no idea where it is..." I said.

"I'll bring you to school when you start then. You're starting tomorrow, aren't you?" He said.

"Yeah... it's the first time I'm going to school. I've always been home schooled." I sighed.

"Well, trust me, it's going to be great in school." He assured and my heart felt less heavy. I was nervous for school, but his words assured me well.

Jimin's P.O.V

This might be the worst decision of my life...

I keyed in the password of the dorm where I knew BTS lived in.

I could already hear their voices from out here.

The door clicked open, and I took in a deep breath. This was unusually nerve wrecking. It's making me sweat.

As soon as the others heard the door open, they were surprised.

"Is it our manager?" Taehyung said and he walked towards the door.

But to his surprise, I was there. I took out my hoodie, and forced a smile at him. Taehyung was also one of the closest friends I had, but also the worst.

Taehyung dropped his jaw. He was speechless at the sight of me.

Without words, he ran to me and pulled me into a big hug. I staggered back, and tried to get my balance, because his weight was falling onto me.

"Taehyung-ah, who is it?" I heard Jin's voice. The others were all in the living room, and they couldn't see me yet.

Soon enough, the least expected thing happened. I heard soft sobs, coming from Taehyung.

"Hyung... I'm so sorry... I shouldn't have been so mean to you..." He muttered through his sobs. He was tearing uncontrollably, that I had no choice but to awkwardly comfort him by tapping his back continuously.

At this moment, each member slowly came to the door out of curiosity. But when they saw who I was, they joined in the hug.

And I honestly didn't expect this, but they all started crying on the spot. I received so many apologies on the spot, that my heart hurt.

I can't lie, I missed them.
