Chapter 6

"Pardon? Did you just say... the Mage Order?" I wanted her to repeat what she said, maybe she would correct herself in some way. I've already had enough surprises for the day.

"Yes, ma'am. Your abilities are outstanding enough to join them, and the mage order is a better place for someone like you to reside in. I will be sending a letter of referral to them a few hours after our conversation." she was all smiles while she said this, while I was struck dumb.

"W... Wait... how is that possible anyway? For someone like me to..." I was going to ask her how I had the qualifications to join the mage order, but then I noticed that her facial expression suddenly turned blank.

"Um, did I say something that offended you?" I was scared that I might have said something to hurt her feelings, though I don't know how any of my words could have hurt her.

Some guy in an armor then replied to me, "Oh, miss. I think she's on rest mode right now."

"What?" I looked at the guy's direction. Her, on rest mode? I was confused.

"I see that you're unaware, all receptionists of every branch of the adventurers guild are mechanical devices." the guy explained what's up with her.

"...She's a robot..." I wasn't exactly shocked that the receptionist was a robot since I've read about receptionists in some fantasy novels like her but it sure was unexpected.

For an era like this to have some high technology like this robot... "Yup, definitely unexpected."

"Is that so? Thanks for telling me." I thanked him then looked at the receptionist, who's on rest mode, again with a sigh.

I turned my back and proceeded to exit the area, I needed to breathe in some fresh air.

To know that I'll probably be meeting with Ignis this soon was, truthfully, a lot to take in. It's not that I'm not ready to face him yet, it's just that I still need to butter up some courage and stuff like that.

"Isn't that the same thing though? Damn, I sure have the talent to contradict myself." I thought then hit myself with a  face palm.

"I'm back, Faustina. Just finished what I had to do." that annoying voice has rung in my head once again, which gave me a headache.

"Nice. Anyway, I have some things to say to you." i wanted to say that it would have been preferable for her to just leave my head alone but I didn't, for the sake of courtesy and niceness.

"You don't have to, I know what happened there anyway." the fact that she knew what just happened a while ago makes sense considering she's a goddess. Because of what this goddess said, I recalled what just happened and I realized that I still don't have a place to reside in.

"Alright, alright. Since your purpose right now is to help me out, can you lead me to some place where I can sleep for the night?" I requested for her help since I currently have nowhere to sleep at for this night, "Miss Robotic Receptionist is still sending her letter of referral to the mage order and I haven't formally joined them yet."

"That's a shame, but you managed to join the Mages Order which is a good thing, though it was unprecedented." she replied, it's annoying that she didn't answer my question.

"Oookaaay, so now where do I sleep for the night?" a place to sleep at is what I urgently need.

"On the slums or the streets, obviously. Where do you think you can stay at in that condition?"  I felt a vain in my head pop off, I've never been pissed off so many times in a span of one day by a single person, or Goddess to be precise.

"Thanks for that useful information of yours." I sarcastically thanked her with a smile.

She then giggled, "That was just a harmless joke. Your options right now are limited, you should just come back inside the guild and wait for the receptionist to turn on again."

"Oh, now that I think about it... why didn't I just did that?" I bopped myself on the head for being such a blockhead and headed back inside the guild. I sat on a wooden chair near the exit, and patiently waited, there was literally nothing for me to dot here so I just observed the people around.

"These adventurers going in and out of this place are more neatly dressed than I thought they would be..." I thought, their armor weren't made from leather and instead, they were made from iron which I think is unexpected.

"Of course, they are. They aren't mercenaries." the goddess replied to my thoughts.

"I know, but don't they look more like knights instead of adventurers?" what they're wearing don't seem efficient for adventures which makes it more odd.

"Those are reinforced with magic that makes those lighter than they look. Provided by the guild." She explained.

"The guild sure has a deep pocket for them to be able to provide such seemingly expensive items for its members. I wonder where they come from." it was obvious that providing a bunch of those would make ones bank account suffer, so it makes me curious where the guild got this amount of money from.

"Well, that's a secret." Although she didn't chuckle, it makes me feel like she did. I can tell that she knows something about the guilt though,it's not really surprising since she's literally a goddess of fate who writes peoples destinies.

While me and Lachesis were happily chatting away in my head as minutes passed by, I got so carried away that I lost track of time.

"Hey, the receptionist's calling you." she notified me about the receptionist,

"Oh!" and I suddenly came back to my senses and responded to the receptionist.

There was nothing much that came out from our interaction, she only told me to come upstairs to meet with the current arch-mage of the Mages Order.

The current arch-mage of the Mages Order is Licia if my memory serves me right, she was Ignis's left hand man. She lost her right arm fighting with Duke Fernando's forces.

"I’m really excited to meet her, she's a great person." I thought excitedly.

"The current arch-mage, huh." it was odd how that was the only thing Lachesis said, but I paid it no heed.

The moment I reached the room upstairs where I was supposed to meet the current arch-mage, someone's eyes met mine.

A pair of green eyes, like the luscious trees in a rainforest, were locked onto mine, descriptions from the novel I read rang in my head.

I knew immediately who was in front of me.

"Wait, wait, WAIT. How is Ignis here?!" I screamed internally.
