"Stop Alexander please let go of me!"

I still remember her screams and pleads for help.

"Alexander, I thought you were my friend, why are you doing this?!"

I still remember his face when he heard her scream.

With anger in his eyes Jack and I ran into the room to see the horrifying sight.

She was tied to a pole with Alexander slowly stripping her of her clothes.

"Jack, Lucas please make him stop!" her screams were bone chilling. Before anyone could react Jack was on the ground punching Alexander bloody. I slowly started to help her down, she was shaking and trembling in both fear and shock. Jack was still beating the shit out of Alexander. I walked up to him and placed my hand on his shoulder. He looked back at me with anger and fury.

"Calm down, let me take care of him. Go get her out of here." I said and he looked back at Alexander and gave him one last punch before walking up to her and whisking her away into the night.

Suddenly Alexander chuckled. "They won't survive the night." I looked at him, dead eyed and took my dagger to his heart. No one threatens them.

I hurriedly made my way to Jack's house. To find the two of them sitting together under a blanket, she was crying.

I still shiver whenever I see her reincarnations cry. I still cry every time I think of that night, so happily in love they were. Only for them to lose it so quickly.

With one swift movement of the night both of them died. The shadow assassin disappeared into the night. I fell to the floor crying out in pain. I had been sent to earth to protect these two specifically and I had failed. And so as a last resort I prayed to the universe to give me a new chance to save them and give them a new chance to love.

"Lucas you are crying, are you okay?"

I was ripped from the painful memory and looked at Jack. He still looked the same, blue eyes, blonde hair and pale skin. I slowly nodded, not trusting my voice. Speaking up, still unsure if I could handle it.

"Jack I-" my voice got silent as Janna appeared.

She gave Jack a loving kiss on the cheek and sat down next to us. She still looked at me with pride, as if to prove me wrong. She still laughs at me for saying she couldn't get with him.

"What are you two talking about?" Janna asks, smiling. But the look in her eyes tells a different story. I thought Jack would say something but he just laughed and said something about catching up. They started talking and I zoned out again, back into old memories.

"Why am I here?"

"Because you wished for them to love again, and I granted that wish but it comes with a price."

"What is it?" I say without hesitation. My eyes must have been pleading because they laughed.

"Young boy, I sent you with one goal. Those two needed to end up together. They need to fullfill their destiny. I will grant your wish. But you will have to keep them together. You will remember everything. No matter how many times you reincarnate, that is your price."

He sighed looking at me before speaking again.

"Your destiny has and will always be tied to theirs. But so is Alexander and another. They are sent by my sister to tear them apart, don't let that happen."

And with that I was reborn in ancient Egypt, there I trained to become a knight and guard. I met Hope's reincarnation, an Egyptian priestess honouring the god of death Anubis. And I also met Jack's reincarnation, a royal guard. This time I made sure they got together. And eventually they married, and gave birth to a child who would lead a giving life. Helping those in need and protecting those too weak.

I snapped out again. Janna and Jack were still talking. I guess they didn't notice this time. I want to leave, I've failed once again. They won't end up together in this life.

I look up for a second and there she is. Hair short and eyes dark. She's laughing with a friend, she hasn't seen us. It's now or never, so I make a decision.

"Hey Hope, long time no see!" her head turns towards us and her smile shrinks when she sees Jack with Janna, quickly she covers her dismay with a new fake smile. "Hello Lucas. How have you been?" she asks as she walks over with her friend.

"Oh you know, same old same old." I reply. "Hey Jack look, isn't she pretty with short hair?"

He looks up, as if just now noticing her presence. They make eye contact, it seems like no one is backing down this time.

Janna starts staring in between them her eyebrows turning into a frown and her eyes twitching.

"Hey Hope, Jack and I are celebrating our two year anniversary tomorrow and we were making plans, do you mind?" her tone was laced with venom as she spoke. The two of them snapped out of their trance and Hope simply nodded. She waved goodbye and started leaving with her friend. I noticed how Jack stared at her, watching her walk away. Some things never change. He still hates seeing her walk away.
