Tauriel went to her room to prepare for the celebration that would be held that evening. It was her favorite day of the year, the feast of starlight.
She changed from her forest clothes into a green velvet dress. It had long sleeves and went passed her knees. She was still wearing her brown leather boots and she decided to keep them on. As a captain of the guard she never knew when duty might call. For the same reason she wore a simpler, shorter dress than the other elf maidens.
She had free spirit and was always ready for adventure.
She put on her necklace. It's pendant was a white gem of starlight. It was wrapped with a thorny branch shaped like a teardrop. The necklace suited her well it was tough and strong on the outside. But filled with hope and light on the inside.
She left her room and hurried to join the celebration which had already begun.
