"Erh.." I stared at the building in front of me. "I think it's better to go-" I stopped when I felt Zara pinch my ear. "What? Back?" she rolled her eyes. "Oh come on, Raine. We can't go back now" Yes, I brought her with me even though Andrew said not to bring anyone.

"Besides you woke me up in the middle of the night asking me to come-" she stopped mid-sentence and gave me a suspicious look. I raised my eyebrow at her. "I almost forgot.." I heard her mutter. "Who is this person we're going to meet and why do I have to tag along?"

My eyes widen and I quickly looked away. I cursed under my breath. I hate this side of Zara, the curious one. I was still thinking of a loophole when I heard her speak. "So?" I looked back at her. She has this smirk on her face now. "I'm waiting"

"Uh.." I think there's sweat all over my face. I laughed nervously. "We should get going" I quickly grabbed her arm and pulled her to, if I'm not mistaken, the hotel. "I don't want him to keep waiting"

She stopped me right when we were about to enter the hotel. I gave her a confused look. "You should've just told me it's a guy" she said. "But it's not a date, right? I don't want to be the third wheel" she whined. We both laughed hard. I raised my right hand and shook my head. "It's not. I promise"

We exchanged cheeky grins. "Pinky promise?" She held out her pinky finger. I intertwined my finger with hers. "Pinky promise" I know, we're dorks. She grabbed my hand and pulled me to the hotel reception. "Come on, I can't wait to meet the guy who captured my best friend's heart"

We were still laughing when we heard the receptionist speak. "Good afternoon. Do you have a reservation?" she asked and gave us a genuine smile. I gave her a smile back as a sign of respect. "We are just going to meet someone" Zara said. The receptionist nodded.

I examined the hotel. Luxurious and classy. That's when I noticed the receptionist staring at me. I raised my eyebrow at her. "Is there a problem?" I asked her. Her eyes widen and she shook her head. "No, no.." she denied.
"By chance, do you happen to be Raine Thompson?"

My eyebrows furrowed. I nodded slowly. "Yes, why?" she just gave me a smile and wrote something. She stood up from her seat and went closer to me and Zara. "Miss Thompson, please follow me" she said and walked away.

Zara and I exchanged looks before following her. "I rather be at home listening to One Direction" I heard my best friend murmur causing me to grin a little. I nudged her arm making her face me. "What?" she asked, annoyed. I raised my hands up and silently chuckled. "Chill, Z"

"Here we are" the receptionist announced, causing us to stop our conversation. We both looked at her. "Room 01" My eyes widen. ROOM 01? That's like the biggest room here .. ever.

She gave us one last smile before leaving. I guess we're on our own. "So.." Zara started. "Who knocks?" We slowly looked at each other. "You" we both said in union. We threw death glares at each other. I am not backing down. For all I know, there's doll with a knife at the other side waiting for its prey.

"You do it!"

"No, you!"

"No, I won't!"

"Yes, you will"

"No, I-"

"Are you guys done fighting?"

"No, I'm no-" I stopped shouting and my eyes widen. Okay, that is not Zara's voice. We slowly looked at where the voice came from. It was from the door. It revealed a handsome and tall guy. Oh, God. IT'S AN-

"CARTER?" I looked at Zara, confused. 'You know him?' I mouthed at her. She glanced at me with panic. She was about to speak when Carter, according to Z, spoke. "Hello, Zara" (Why did I suddenly think of Adele?) Okay, now I feel like I'm the third wheel.

"Care to introduce me?" I nudged her arm, breaking their stares at each other. "What? Oh yeah.." she shook her head. "Carter, this is Raine, my best friend" I gave Carter a genuine smile which he gladly gave back. "Raine, this is Carter, my.." she hesitated.

"You're what?" I asked, now curious. She looked at him and heavily sighed. "He's my-" he cuts her off. "I'm her stepbrother" Stepbrother? I nodded and gave Z a hard look. "You never told me you had a stepbrother" I said. She gave me an apologetic smile. Huh, I really thought he's her boyfriend.

"Anyways, we're going to meet-" Carter didn't let Zara finish and put his hand around her waist. "Come on, stepsister. Let's go to the cafe" he said. "But-" Too late, he already pulled her away from me. I watched them walk away. Huh, they look like a couple.

I shook my head and looked in front of me. Room 01. I took a deep breath. Okay, I'm going in. The door was open so I didn't knock. I know, I'm rude. I entered slowly and expectedly, the room was breathtaking. You can see the seaside from up here. The furniture was beautiful and the room was clean.

I examined the room for someone but nobody was there. I heavily sighed and bitterly laughed. "You're a fool" I murmur. I was about to turn around when I felt someone hugging me from behind.

I stayed in my position and didn't move. Words can't express what I'm feeling right now. But I know that I need to say something. "Andrew-" I stopped when I felt my neck got wet. "Raine" I heard sobs. That's when realization hits me. He's crying.. because of me.
