Okay, so this book was just supposed to be about the ship Hinanami and all its flaws. I told myself I wouldn't write this, but I guess I lied. I hate this ship so much. It's forced as hell. That's all I got to say about this shit show of a ship. Like, people who ship Saimatsu, I'm usually not one to judge, but why? I can understand the aesthetic part. Cute blonde pink girl and sad emo boi fall in love. Yeah, that's cute. But it needs to be done correctly. Anytime something romantic or sexual happens between Saihara and Akamatsu, it just feels awkward. So, so awkward. Like, the best way I can describe how awkward it feels is saying it's like watching to obviously very gay people pretend they're straight but horribly. Like, if I walked in on them talking about their crushes, then they noticed me, and immediately started to flirt with each other but not very well. 

Also, I'm going to say this right now. I love Kaede. I have nothing against her. In fact, she's my favorite female character from DRV3. I love Shuichi. He's my third favorite character from DRV3. I just don't think they go well together. The way the game presents their relationship makes me think they don't go well together. Well, they don't go well together romantically. I see their relationship to work better in a brother/sister sort of way. Like a partnership. Also, may I just say handing Shuichi the leader role before he was ready was a shit move. Yeah, sure, it's what made him an interesting protag, but it was a shit move on Kaede's part and it doesn't make her seem like a very good friend or person. It put more pressure on Shuichi to succeed so when he did fail he took it hard. He took it so hard. It killed his confidence and made him feel worthless. Like he wasn't trying enough to avenge his dead friend. His dead friends.

I can name two ships better than Saimatsu. For both characters in the ship. For Shu, Saiouma and Saibo. For Bakamatsu, Irumatsu and Kaemugi. Yes, Kaemugi and Saibo. I bet you didn't expect those ones, did ya? Irumatsu and Saiouma are just my main ships for those two, so I'll be talking about them more. Also, I just like those ships better.
For Saiouma, I'm going to start off with this. It's not toxic. it's never been toxic. Stop being stupid. Play Kokichi's free time events as Shu, you'll understand. Kokichi and Saihara play games. If Saihara fails, Ko will kill him. Of course, this is a lie. You learn so much about Kokichi through his free time events. Such as, he likes tea parties, and is a pacifist. He doesn't like harming people, but he will if he's pushed to. Another thing you learn in Kokichi's free time events is that Shuichi FOR A FACT doesn't hate Kokichi! He's confused by him and wants to try to understand him. Find out who he it behind the lies. Similar to Hajime when it comes to Nagito. And like Nagito, Kokichi appreciates this. When Ouma injures himself during the knife game, Shuichi immediately jumps to his aid. While Shu bandages Ko's finger, Ouma laughs. Shuichi asks why? Kokichi responds simply by saying, "I stole your heart. Now I satisfied. I don't need your life anymore." Now, you have to be an idiot to not interrupt this as romantic. It's clearly romantic and if you don't see it as so, you're either dumb, blind, or in denial.

But, how does Shuichi feel about Kokichi? To be honest, I think he likes him back but just doesn't know how to handle it. And no, this isn't shipper me being like, "UwU! I want my ship to be canon so I'm going to make it seem like it's canon!" No, that's not what I'm doing here. It is shown through out the game, time and time again that Shuichi is not good at handling emotions. He can't handle positive or negative emotions. He's bad at it. Like, really bad at it. The dude can't even tell if someone is really his friend or if they're just being nice to him. I mean, the last part is his paranoia, BUT THAT'S NOT THE MAIN THING HERE!!! The point is, Shu is bad at emotions and probably just can't deal with his crush. Also, all of his other friends hate Ouma, so, that adds on to the stress and confusion pile. Also, Kokichi's Love Hotel. To be honest, his Love Hotel is probably the most interesting. It's like he's made for Shuichi. A detective and theif love story. When Shu is uncomfortable with Ko's advances, he backs up and runs out of the room. It's strange. Why? Because in almost everyone else's Love Hotel they just keep trying to fuck Shuichi, but in Ouma's he backs up when Shu clearly doesn't want to do anything sexual with him a respects his choices. And it's mostly weird because it seems like Ouma is conscious of his actions while all the others aren't. It a very strange difference. But I like it.

Now, I'm going to be talking about Irumatsu. Now, I admit this one is just more or less speculation. There is not much evidence supporting this ship. Other then the high sexual tension, but that can just be chalked up to Miu Iruma being Miu Iruma. If you play Miu's free time events as Kaede, you find out more or less that Miu is a tsundere. Miu constantly insults Kaede. Kaede, being pissed off and confused, asks Miu why? Iruma responds with the tsundere version of, "I'm scared if I don't get your attention you'll leave me". Also, along with that, it's revealed that Miu has no friends. At all. And, even though Kaede is pissed of and confused by her, she tries to help. She tells her straight up that Miu is being a bitch and she isn't going to make friends like that. But that Akamatsu is willing to help her. Iruma seems to be really flustered by the fact that Kaede actually cares about her. Straight up saying, "H-Hey! I don't need you caring about me!" When in fact, Miu does need Kaede caring about her. If Kaede live longer, then I think that they're relationship would've bloomed in to something great. Kaede has the balls to tell Miu when she's being a shit head, but no in a mean way, just in a blunt way. A Miu can show Akamatsu that she doesn't have to be nice all the time. It's okay to let your anger out. In fact, I like how in Miu's free time events you actually see Kaede get angry. It's a nice refresher. 

Now, onto Saiibo. Honestly, I can't say much since I haven't played Kiibo's and, even though he's one of my faves, I just don't want to. But, I love their dynamic. Shuichi being the shy yet caring detective along with Kiibo the socially awkward yet sweet robot. So cute! Also, Kiibo's love hotel is just fucking adorable. Saihara is one of the only few people there who treat Kiibo with kindness and respect and Kiibo returns the favor by doing the same, if not even more. So, yeah, Saiibo is just a good ship. Fight me. As good as Saiouma? In my opinion, no. But, it's still really cute!

Onto my other Kaede ship, Kaemugi! Yeah, I know, shipping Kaede with Tsumugi is weird, just let me explain okay? Kaede constantly hits on Mugi and Mugi just blushes and stumbles on her words. It's very cute. Also, Shirogane and Akamatsu have a lot of shared interests. Kind've. During Tsumugi's free time events, they seem to be really good friends even though they practically have nothing in common. They try to understand each other, even though they're from two totally different worlds. They even try to find hobbies together once they realize they don't have any other hobbie then their talents. Their personalities mixing always seems to cause funny, yet heart melting moments. I genuinely believe is Mugi wasn't the mastermind, her and Akamatsu would've been great friends, and maybe something even more.

Wanna know the best part out of the four ships I just showed you? 

None of the moments feel forced.

So yeah, Saimatsu is horrible and forced as fuck. And a lot of the other ship aren't. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. By the way, I don't mean to make anyone feel horrible about their ship.
