I Hate Everything About You Ch. 19

"...I love you." I said, biting my lip, and I felt the blood rush to my cheeks as I said it. "I just wanted to say it incase if I never had another chance to say it..." I looked over to Silver. His blank eyes were widened in shock, and I could see a tint of red in his cheeks, to match his hair. His mouth was slightly opened, and he seemed to be shaking a little. Did I make him uncomfortable? Probably...

He stuttered a couple times as if he was gonna say something, but we could hear footsteps from down the hall. We all froze and listened. Surely they were headed our way.

"Silver, I can't believe you!" Gold suddenly shouted. The redhead looked puzzled. "I can't believe you'd give up so easily and betray us!" Realization struck both me and Silver, remembering that we decided that Silver was going to join Team Rocket undercover.

"I'm sick of staying in here helplessly. Face it, Gold, Team Rocket won this time." Silver said, playing along. "You know what they say; if you can't beat 'em, join 'em."

We could hear the footsteps get closer. Judging by the uneven sound, there must be more than one. Most likely the executives.

"What is that I hear?" A voice laughed. "We have a quitter?" Surely enough, it was the executives. They smirked, believing that Silver actually gave up.

"And the boss's son; what a score." Petrel laughed.

"Now how can we really trust him?" Proton said, giving us a suspicious look.

"Come on, he's got Rocket blood in him; he was born to take over Team Rocket. Maybe even better than Giovanni! You can see it in his eyes; he's just as dark and cruel as his father." I looked over to Silver. Now he was looking down, his hair hiding his face.

They put the key to the cell in the lock, turning it. With a creak, the door slid open. Without a single word spoken, Silver stood up and walked out of the prison, only glancing over to me for a split second. The executives shut the door again, and locked it.

"Don't you wish you never gave up now, Umber?" They taunted me, walking away with Silver.

We waited until they were gone until we spoke again.

"So...you fell for Silver?" Gold asked.

I nodded. "Yea...don't ask why. I just kinda did."

"Well that's good, I guess. I mean, you'll probably have a little bit of competition but--"

I stopped him. "What do you mean 'competition'?"

Gold rubbed the back of his neck. "You know how I seemed like I had a crush on Lyra, right? Well, I found out that she has this major crush on Silver..."

"Oh...so I guess you told Lyra that you liked her?"

"Actually I don't, it was probably because she reminded me of Crystal, since you know, they're sisters. And Crystal was just so busy so I couldn't go and see her..."

"They're sisters? They don't seem like it. Lyra's so annoying, while Crystal is so...not."

Gold laughed. "I know, but they are related, believe it or not."

"So...you like Crystal, I like Silver, and Silver likes who...?" I asked.

"I'm not sure...he insists that Blue is only a sister to him, but she's the closest one to him of us. And you should see how jealous he gets when Green is with her."

"So Silver likes Blue."

The breeder shrugged. "Who knows..."

I sighed. Why did I even tell Silver I liked him? That probably only made things worse between me and him. I closed my eyes and, instead of Gold, I pictured Silver holding me in his lap, running his fingers through my hair...

I don't know how long I've been sleeping, but when I woke up up I was on the cold concrete floor, with Gold laying down besides me. He was laying on his back with his arms spread out, snoring with drool dripping out of his mouth. How I managed to sleep through that, I don't know.

I looked around looking for Silver, but then I remembered he tricked Team Rocket into joining.

I stretched and quickly regretted it, forgetting how injuried I am. I curled back up trying to get rid of the pain, taking deep breaths. I looked at my arms, which were just bruised and burned. My legs were scratched up a bit, maybe from crawling in the air vents, and had a little bit of dried blood along with similar bruises and burns.

I heard Gold moving and yawning besides me, and I turned to face him. He rubbed his eyes before stretching.

"Good morning." He said through another yawn.

"Morning..." I replied.

"You feeling any better?"

"No...everything still hurts..."

Gold sighed. "Silver better hurry up; as soon as he lets us out, I'm taking you straight to the Pokemon Center."

"No, I gotta help you guys..."

"You've already helped us enough, and I gotta thank you for that, but you need to be cared for as soon as possible."

"Not until Team Rocket is gone."

"Umber, leave it to me and Silver. You need to rest and get treatment."

"Shut up already...I can handle it."

"You can barely stand!"

"I said shut up!" I screamed one last time. Gold sighed, and layed down again. I turned my back to him.

"You can stay with me until Team Rocket is taken care of..." Gold said.

"Good."

Footsteps could be heard coming our way. Gold sat up in alert, waiting to see who was coming. I attempted to, but it just caused too much pain so I laid back down. But I still watched to see who was coming. Silver walked to our cell, with his hypnotized Weavile guilding him. He wore normal blue jeans with black boots, but instead of his black and red sweater he had a purple robe with black outlines. On his shoulders he had gray shoulder plates, which had a cape attached. Around his waist he wore a black belt with Team Rocket's emblem on it.

"Silver! Finally, do you know how long we've been waiting??" Gold shouted, standing up and walking to him. "Seriously, do you know how long? There's no clock in here so I couldn't tell..."

The redhead closed his eyes and shook his head. "You'll never change Gold." He said, pulling out the keys to the cell. He gave the keys to Weavile, who opened the cell for us. Gold picked me up and carried me out of the cell, Weavile closing it behind us.

"I'm going to go destroy the machine, while you two make your way to the executives. By the time you get there, I should have the machine destroyed." Silver said. "Weavile, take me to Sliph Co, and the basement." Weavile nodded, taking his hand and running out. "The executives should be here in the hideout!" He yelled before he was out of sight.

Gold quietly walked around looking for the executives with our Pokemon. We had to be careful, and if we ran into them or any other Rocket with a Pokemon, we were helpless. How were we suppose to know when our Pokemon regained their senses? I guess that would be a little obvious actually...

I gripped onto Gold's shirt, thinking of Silver. What if he got hurt destroying the machine? What if it was a trap? I don't want him to get hurt. I sighed, relaxing myself. He's Silver; he's strong, he can handle it. Then this will soon be over...

But what's gonna happen after that? He never told me if he forgives me. He still hates me, I know it. He would have told me by now! I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that he doesn't want me around.

"Umber? You ok?" Gold asked, noticing my tight grip.

"Huh? Oh...yeah." I mumbled.

"You're worried about Silver." It wasn't really a question, more of a statement.

"Is that obvious?"

He shrugged a bit. "Don't worry, he'll be fine."

I tried smiling, but couldn't really force one. Just telling me not to worry does not make me feel better.

I sighed. 'He'll be fine, he'll be fine, he'll be fine...' I repeated in my head over and over.

"Looks like our prisoners escaped." A voice behind us snarled.

'We'll be fine, we'll be fine!' I said mentally as we faced the executives and our hypnotized Pokemon.
