Dream #8
Dream #8
"Life is so complex and complicated. I don't think humanity will be able to conquer all parts of it as we can never know what's beyond the universe that we live in."
I was staring at the flowing waters of the river all this time while I was in an informal debate with Kaiden.
"You don't know that. There's a possibility that humanity has discovered things like what you've said after a few more decades or even centuries," Kaiden rebutted.
I don't think he treats this as a debate though.
"That's if there's still humans living on Earth. Or if Earth is still floating in the solar system."
He chuckled but he didn't say anything. I don't recall how we got into this topic, all I know is that we were chilling at a nearby river. The place was covered with trees and a lot of plants. I can hear birds singing, the water streaming, and the leaves swaying.
It was peaceful, but I know if it's night time, it will pretty scary to chill and spend time here.
"I failed science class when I was in 10th grade," he told me and that made me shock.
"You're lying!"
He shook his head a little and smiled.
"I almost failed every subject there is on 10th grade."
"I don't believe you, Kaiden... Why is that?" Still not believing, I asked him.
"I lost all interest in studying. I fell in love, and when I was left alone, I couldn't handle everything because I have already fixed my priorities, I wasn't able to process the changes needed," he said casually, without any smile in his face anymore.
That piqued my interest even more. At 10th grade, he fell inlove, he basically made her a priority, but she left him alone...
"Tell me more!" I urged him.
He let out a chuckle and stood up. He dusted invisible dirt from his clothes and after that, he held out his hand for me to help me stand up.
"Let's grab two cups of coffee, shall we?"
"The lesson here is that as human beings, we know if something is permanent or temporary. We shouldn't center those things if we are not sure if it's permanent to us. We won't be able to take the changes that we need to do if you've already set everything up. You'll fall down, but you need to stand up again for your sake."
After telling me his emotional story, I burst out crying. He tried to calm me down, but he touched my heart so bad with his story that tears were already falling from my eyes.
"Hey, stop crying..."
He stood up from his seat to sit next to me. His arms went to my shoulders and he caressed my back as if he's trying to make me stop crying.
"I'm sorry..." I told him after I stopped crying. "It's just that, your story is so sad, it's like a very sad tragic novel or movie," I said while wiping the tears with the handkerchief he offered me.
He just laughed and sipped from his coffee mug.
"I hope you learned something, Kei."
