Dream #11
This is definitely the longest chapter I have written for this story lol. It has to be full because Kei isn't going to dream the same dream continuously.
Dream #11
"Why are you up at this hour?" my mom said suspiciously.
As I tried to make up stories to tell her, I started to perspire a lot and my hands began to tremble. I can't tell her that a man is in my room above! She'll lose her mind and call the police!
I pointed where I was going and hesitantly said, "Just going to get some items."
"At this hour?"
"Yes... Uh..." And then an idea popped in my mind. "I'm staying up late, studying. We have an incoming exam for stats, I was about to get something to eat..."
She sighed and nodded. She doesn't appear to be convinced, yet she simply accepted my reasoning.
She apologized for scaring me and she turned to leave me standing there.
I hurried straight to the kitchen to wipe the sweat that was dripping from my forehead and neck as she got back to the sofa. I gathered my supplies and gave my mother a quick check.
She was so preoccupied with what she was viewing on the television that she was unaware that I had briefly stopped by. I didn't waste any time and hurried to my room to check on Kaiden.
There were no indications that he was conscious, and he was still lying where I had left him.
He sat next to me. He remained there on my carpet. I was lost as to what to do. Nobody was unconscious or ill and laying in my room before.
I just carried out what my mother always does when I'm ill. She uses a towel that has been soaked in warm water. Perhaps it aids in lowering body temperature... or anything.
Being that Kaiden was shirtless, it was a little easier for me. I cleaned his neck, arms, face, abs—I mean, stomach—and then his underarms.
I couldn't fall asleep. He was simply too heavy for me to lift, despite my repeated attempts to take him to my bed. He is obviously larger than me and more muscular. For someone like me, who is small and petite, to carry him, a miracle is needed.
Until I failed to realize that the sun had already risen and that birds were chirping outside my window.
I stared at him for three to four hours? Wow... I had no idea that love could drive someone so insane, just like this.
But later I have class. And I'm still unsure of Kaiden's chances of recovering consciousness.
My grades are already in jeopardy, so I am unable to skip class today. Mom is going to murder me.
It was already 6:23 a.m. when I checked the time on my phone from my bed, and I still wasn't sure what to do.
I got to my feet and kept glancing at Kaiden, who was still soundly asleep on my carpet. It must have hurt to do it. He is still technically lying on the chilly tiled floor because the carpet was a little thin.
I need to do what I need to do.
So I went about my daily routine, trying to forget about Kaiden even for a second, because as I was showering and conducting my typical bathroom rituals, his sleeping face never left my mind. I was also concerned about my mother bursting through my door to find a stranger resting in my room.
Negative ideas began to arise, but I attempted to push them away. I imagined walking out of my bathroom to witness police arresting Kaiden and my mother reacting as if I were being held hostage or taken by a man who appeared from my window.
I sped through everything, and when I came out of my bathroom, I almost yelled in surprise to see him sitting in my bed, fixing his hair with his hand.
I was glad I had brought my uniform with me to the restroom to get dressed because I didn't want him to see me in just a towel!
"How's sleep?" I questioned as I approached him.
I placed my hand on his neck to check his temperature. He dodged my hand a little because he certainly didn't expect it, but I still did it. He was still as hot as an overused phone.
I heard him groan and notice his neck cracking slightly. I laughed because I knew how exhausted his body was from sleeping on the floor.
"What happened?" he asked with a morning husky voice.
I nearly yelled a cuss word. That was sizzling... That literally sent chills down my spine. What the hell is going on...
I cleared my throat before responding. I didn't want him to think I was swooning over him in my head.
"You fainted earlier! What's happening, Kaiden? How did you get sick? What did you do?" I worriedly said, because I'm concerned about him!
"I'll tell you later, but first, please just give me something to eat."
I went downstairs to see whether my mother was still there, but she wasn't. She was always on time for work. That's a good thing.
I had no idea what I was terrified of. Isn't it about time I tell her about Kaiden? Why am I hiding him like he's some stupid drug to which I'm addicted?
Something is preventing me from doing so. I'm not sure what it is, but it doesn't feel like the proper time...
When I returned to my room, Kaiden had already finished cleaning himself up. I spotted a duffel bag on the floor, as well as how he was clothed in fresh clothes. A white t-shirt and a pair of shorts. He still looks beautiful, although I didn't notice he was carrying a duffel bag earlier.
Perhaps because I'd been staring at him for the past few hours!
"Are you ready?" I asked, and he nodded.
As we walked outdoors, I let him follow me.
"Kei? Are you ready? Let's eat!" I came to a halt as I heard a shout from the kitchen.
My heart skipped a beat when I realized it was my mom!
"Oh, no..." I mumbled, going to turn around and tell Kaiden to go back into my room, when my mother came out of the kitchen and spotted me standing there, and I'm quite sure Kaiden is behind me.
"You have class later and... What the hell?!" She shrieked when she discovered I wasn't alone, just a few steps from the kitchen.
"Kaiden Carter, ma'am," Kaiden answered when my mom asked about his name.
I gave Mom the biggest surprise of her life. She was confused, enraged, confused again, and completely baffled to see me with a man.
Despite her confusion, she invited him to join us for dinner. But while we were still getting comfortable at the table, she began asking questions to Kaiden, who was politely responding them.
"How much does your family earn—"
"Woah, woah, hey mom! I thought you left for work, why are you here?" I stopped her before she can finish asking her absurd question!
She stared at me, little angered by my question and disruption.
"And why shouldn't I be here, huh?! So you can bring someone here without me knowing, huh, Kei Alessandra?"
Oh my goodness! She even used my middle name! My horrible middle name! Right in front of Kaiden! In the presence of my boyfriend!
I was unable to respond. I was flushed and ashamed over how my mother revealed my middle name, which I had sought to keep hidden from everyone. I avoided glancing at Kaiden, who seemed unbothered about our little fight.
My mother returned her gaze to Kaiden. Their question and answer session continued while I sat quietly listening, still embarrassed over how Kaiden heard my middle name.
"I'm sorry about that, anyway... So, Kaiden... Are you still a student?"
"Yes, ma'am. I'm a 3rd year engineering student."
"Interesting... What are you and my daughter? Are you friends?" Mom said, and I noticed her staring at me carefully, with that 'I'll-kill-you' expression she gives me whenever I do something stupid.
My mother is not like that. She is normally cool and calm, as if she is used to the situation. But this was something new for her. It has to do with seeing me with a guy.
"Ma'am, we're in a relationship."
