(That's Natalie!) ⬆

It turned out, Riley knew just as much about the Roman Empire as I did...which was absolutely nothing. So, taking advantage of no supervision, I pulled out my phone and googled the answers. Riley tried asking Drew for help first, but after getting ignored, he joined me in my cheating ways. Hey, if Mrs. Shaffer isn't going to teach me, then I'll get google to do it for her.

When we finished, I started working on my flyers. Riley tried to keep talking to me, but he must have noticed I was really focused because a few minutes later he moved back and started talking to Drew. I felt bad, expecting him to get ignored again, but surprisingly, Drew didn't act like a complete douchebag. He actually sounded like he was talking to his best friend. How close are they?

Finally tuning out their conversation, I got back to work on my flyers. "Natalie's Babysitting Service". That was the title I went for; very original, I know. Before we moved from New Jersey, I had about five kids that I watched regularly. Some of them I had from infancy, and I watched them grow into adorable trouble-making toddlers.

It was hard having to say goodbye to each one of them, because I had given them a piece of my heart. If you've ever seen the end of The Help when Mae-Mobely cries out for Abeline to stay, then you can imagine how hard it was to walk away from them. That's one of the reasons why I'd been saving up money to get my own place back in New Jersey. I didn't want to live with Tracy anymore. If my Dad was there, sure, I'd stay. But he rarely was, so it wasn't enough.

When the bell rung, I packed up the flyers and headed out toward the parking lot, waving goodbye to Riley as I left.

I didn't go to the cafeteria because I wasn't interested in having the infamous "awkward moment" when you have to figure out where to sit for lunch yet. Instead, I decided to eat out.

Once I was in my car, I pulled out my phone and looked up the closest restaurants to me. A McDonald's was only 2 miles away, but there was also a diner just a little bit closer.

You eat too much fast food anyway, Nat. Give the little diner a chance.

So, instead of embracing my inner fatty, I let Siri lead me to the little diner up the street. And yeah, I know it probably wasn't much better for me than McDonald's, but when I thought about how much money I spent there, I realized I need to shake things up a bit; and probably find out where the nearest gym is.

When I pulled up to the diner, I could see that a few kids from school were also there, but it was no one I recognized from the two classes I had so far. I sat on one of the stools up front, where I could see the people in the kitchen cooking, and plopped my bookbag on the stool next to me.

Looking around, I noticed a bulletin board with a ton of newsletters, announcements, and flyers. Perfect! I literally couldn't get any luckier. I waltzed over to it, bringing my bag with me. Seeing an open thumbtack, I pinned one of my flyers to the board. Now anyone that needed a babysitter could pull off a tab and be able to call me.

Turning around, I walked back to the stool, and waited to place my order. A small woman, probably no bigger than myself who stood at 5'3", walked up to me. Her hair was coming out of the bun she wore in a messy way, and NO, not the good kind of messy. She looked tired and stressed.

"Hey, hun. What can I get ya'," she huffed out. Her name tag said Lily" with the word "Owner" underneath in smaller letters.

"Uh, just a cheeseburger and vanilla shake," I said, keeping my eyes on the pretty but clearly overworked woman infront of me.

"One cheeseburger! And a 'Nilla Shake!"

After shouting my order to the kitchen, Lily dashed off to clean up a table. I watched her while I waited for my food. She was probably in her late thirties, early forties. I started to wonder if she has any kids to help her, and just like that my question was answered.

A little boy, with the same dark brown hair and eyes as his mother came pitter-pattering out of nowhere and ran straight into her leg. She almost fell and dropped the dishes she collected from the table, but quickly regained her balance.

"Nate! Sit down before you hurt Mommy! Or worse, you hurt yourself!" she shouted as she wiggled out of his grasp and into the kitchen.

The little boy just sat down in the middle of the floor, crossing his arms and putting a little frown on his face. Awe, he's adorable, even though he's giving his mother a headache.

When Lily came back out, she was bringing me my food.

"Sorry for the wait, hun. I don't get much help until my kids get out of school."

I gave her an understanding smile. She was a hardworking mother, who was trying to run her own business and raise her kids.

"It's fine, but if you ever need a break, I babysit," I said, shamelessly.

And no, I'm wasn't taking advantage of a struggling mother for my own benefit, although it would be great to have at least one client. I offered because she needed help, and I could give it.

"A babysitter? I don't need one of those, but thanks," she rejected, wiping down the counter.

I can't lie, I was disappointed. But, there were more little fish in the sea for me to watch.

"Okay, well, thanks!" I said, placing a $5 bill on the counter. Then I grabbed my burger and shake and headed to my car. I'll eat in the school parking lot.

When I pulled up to the school, I noticed some empty parking spots up close to the building. Looks like some people haven't gotten back from lunch yet. Good for me. I pulled into the closest one, and started eating. I had already downed half my shake on the way back and it was AMAZING! I'd definitely be going back there.

A few moments passed as I listened to the radio. I looked up when something suddenly moved in my peripheral. Once I got a good look, I could see that it was some guy, maybe a sophmore? He looked young, not old enough to be a junior. But, he kept looking behind him, and that's when I saw Drew chasing after him like a mad man.

His tall frame gave him these huge strides, and he was gaining on the boy fast. Looking at him, for the first time I could see that he was pretty attractive; like, Riley level gorgeous. I don't know how I didn't see that before...maybe my "pissed off"ness blinded me. But, I did notice how green his eyes were; they were striking. And speaking of striking...

HE'S LITERALLY STRIKING THE BOY IN THE FACE! OH MY GOD!

"Hey!" I yelled, stumbling out of my car, half of my burger still in my hand. "Hey, get off of him!"

I ran over to them, moving faster than the crowd starting to form around them. When I got there, I jumped onto Drew's back, which took his attention off the helpless boy under him.

"What the h-," he started to say, before looking back at the now fleeing boy. He must have managed to wiggle out from under Drew when I had him distracted.

"Hey!" he shouted, standing up and looking in the direction of the kid who was eating his punches a few moments ago.

"Get off of me!" he grunted, grabbing my arms and throwing me to the ground. He turned around and started chasing after the kid, but as soon as he started, he stopped. The boy was long gone.

I was busy dusting myself off, while celebrating the small victory that my cheeseburger was still intact. Taking a bite, I noticed a lengthy figure coming towards me, his huge strides closing the distance between us. My eyes grew big as he stood infront of me, glaring holes where my eyes should be.

"You mind telling me what the heck you were doing?!" he shouted.

"I should ask you the same thing! You should be ashamed of yourself, picking on that little kid!" I countered.

"Little?! He's sixteen! I'd hardly call that little!" He ran his hands through his hair, his face red. I would have said he looked like the angry emoji...but even I know when to refrain from insults.

"Well, compared to you he's little! And you were beating him into the ground! Do you have any ounce of restraint in that block head of yours!"

Okay, that insult just kinda slipped out.

Drew stayed silent, but it felt like he was trying to make my head explode with the scowl he was giving me. I looked away, but kicked myself for that mental loss.

That's when I noticed how many people were watching us yell like idiots. It wasn't until he did the unthinkable that I remembered he was there.

This boy is going to die.

He literally just smacked my delicious, mouth-watering cheeseburger out of my hand. I could see the dirt coating it, and I was beyond done. My jaw was literally to the ground as I looked up at him.

Who does he think he is?! You don't just knock someone's lunch to the ground!

"You owe me another cheeseburger," I growled through gritted teeth.

"Ha," he sneered. "Like that's ever going to happen."

And then he just started walking away from me. Like, the boys back, however hot it may have been, was to me. AND HE WAS WALKING AWAY!

I don't know what came over me, but I reached down to pick up my cheeseburger, and called his name.

"Hey, Drew!"

"What do you-" he started saying as he turned to face me, but he was interrupted when a dirty cheeseburger smacked him right in the face.

"PFTHAHAHAHAHA!"

I couldn't even hold in my laughter while he processed what happened. I even heard the people around us laughing just as hard. And one laugh was vaguely familiar. I turned to my right and saw Riley in the crowd, bent over and pointing at his friend as he laughed at his expense. Okay, I think I can be friends with this dude.

When he noticed me looking, he cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled out to me.

"Run, Natalie! Run!"

My eyes darted back to Drew and he looked PISSED OFF. Like, if he was a cartoon, he'd have smoke coming out of his ears. Maybe throwing a cheeseburger at his face infront of all his peers was a bad move....

Nah, that idiot knocked it to the ground. He certainly can eat it too.

Despite how justified I felt, I took Riley's advice and sprinted for my car, hearing Drew's angry breaths as he chased after me.

So, what did you guys think of this chapter? Did Drew deserve the face full of dirt-burger, or should Natalie have minded her own business? Don't forget to vote and comment! Bye!
