Chapter 8

~

~Anna's POV~

"PE, hmmm...."

"Stop it. You sound like Deidara." Konan said when we went to the lockers to change into our PE uniforms. I had it stuffed in my bag so I took it out and spread it to see how it was.

"Ne, Konan." I got my friend's attention with an extremely straight face, quite rare for me.

"Yes?"

"WHY THE HECK IS THIS UNIFORM SO EXPOSING?!" I yelled, red with embarrassment even though I still had to put on those extremely short shorts. Every girl in the locker room heard me and most started laughing, including Konan.

"You can keep the leggings on, Gai-sensei won't mind." I sighed.

"Fine..."

So I put on the half-sleeved white PE shirt and the shorts, tied my hair back but some short ones still fell on my face. Ugh. Darn hair.

"You look a beauty." Konan commented.

"You look like you are enjoying. Oh wait, some visual please for Yahiko I suppose." I replied, and grinned watching her fume.

When I entered the grounds for today's PE, I saw a bunch of students surrounding a man in a green spandex and the huge-est eyebrows I had ever seen. Apparently I was the only one in the whole class who had an issue with showing too much skin since I later put on some sleeves too and this didn't go unnoticed by the teacher as he dragged me to the middle of the crowd and looped his arm around my neck.

"Have you all been nice to your new youthful classfellow?!" He yelled. Oh God.

Everybody was looking at me and I felt self-conscious all of a sudden so I quickly got out of the teacher's grip and made my way to the back where Konan was, giggling.

"As much as I don't mind being with guys, he is creeping me out." I said, shuddering.

"MY YOUTHFUL STUDENTS!! TODAY WE WILL BE...." He trailed in the end to create suspense and all the while I was wishing in my heart that it would be something that I could enjoy and not be made to sit back because of my pathetic weakness. "A... TWO HUNDRED METER RACEEEEE!!!!!"

I am screwed.

Konan looked at me worriedly, she knew this sport was something I wasn't able to do anymore. I smiled at her weakly, getting my medical prescription out my pockets.

"I am going to go and show this to him to sit this one out." I told her and started to walk but Konan decided to accompany me.

"He doesn't listen to students when they try to do this." She informed me.

"But I have a legit reason right here."

"Hmm. I know so he should let you."

We stopped a step away from Gai-sensei when he was busy searching with his eagle-eyes for potential candidates.

"Um, excuse me sensei but-" He cut me off and turned to me.

"Hmm? You want to volunteer?" He laughed in joy. "Ah! Youth is such a beautiful thing!!"

"Umm...thats not-"

"OK NEW GIRL! ON THE TRACK!"

"HUH?!" Konan and I exclaimed simultaneously when he pushed me on the track. I protested all the while but he wasn't listening.

"UCHIHA! GET HERE ON THE METERED PATH OF YOUTH!!"

The moment he chose Itachi as my race contender, I forgot everything I was told not to do to worsen my situation. When Itachi stepped on the path beside me, some spark went through me and I knew despite my weakness, I had to run.

"Anna-"

"Konan, I am going to do this." I told her, not willing to be put down when the golden days of my rivalry with Itachi I looked back to with such longing were to be resumed with this two hundred meter track.

"But Anna, just think for a second. This is not good for you." She tried another time and this time, I listened and loosened my muscles and sighed. Sensei was assigning other pairs.

"Fine." I mumbled and took a step off track when I heard Itachi mock me.

"You afraid of losing? Or just scared that I am your competitor here?" I clenched my fists. I could hear the smirk on his face.

"Itachi I actually am not allowed to run or-" I started.

"That's what all the girls say when they know they will lose. Don't tell me you are using the same pathetic excuse here?"

"Itachi stop! She isn't really-" Konan defended me but I stopped her.

"Its ok Konan. Two hundred meters, I can take." I said, crouching for the whistle to initiate the start.

"Anna really don't do this. Please." She pleaded. I felt bad for this but this was something I had to do.

"I will wipe that stupidass smirk off that Uchiha's damn face." I remarked, anger seeping out. "I am ready to face the consequences. Don't worry." She sighed.

"Fine. Do as you wish. You have your medicine with you right?" I nodded and smiled.

"Thanks for caring bestie."

"ALRIGHT! ON THE RING OF THE WHISTLE!" I focused my gaze on the road. "THREE! TWO!-" And as the whistle sounded, I ran.

It was a breeze letting myself run, right on par with Itachi, for a few fifty meters that is, and after that? There were consequences. My head started getting dizzy and I felt like my heart would burst out of my chest, thats how hard it was beating. However, no matter the happening, I was not going to give up and let grizzly have the satisfaction of being a winner. I was feet behind and I knew I couldn't win now but that didn't mean I won't try.

So I ran. Pushed myself to the limits. If I am going to be sick in the end anyways, why not make it count? I forced all that weakness aside and increased my pace so much that I was surprised that I had it in me and my rival was even more surprised when he saw me catching up.

Itachi decided to speed up as well, since the finish line was in sight. Like hell I would let him win! We both sped up to outrun the other. However much my legs would ache or how dizzy and nauseous I would feel didn't matter as I put more power but unfortunately, that wasn't enough. The result wasn't the same as five years ago.

"ITS A TIE!! A YOUTHFUL TIE!" Gai-sensei yelled as Itachi and I crossed the finish line at the same time. NEXT PAIR ON THE TRACK!" And with that, all attention was off us.

"Oh what a match! Hmm!" Deidara commented approaching us. I was busy catching my breath.

"Yeah! Its not everyday that someone ties with Itachi!" Yahiko seconded him. They were all busy pulling grizzly's leg since a tie felt like a defeat to him.

"She didn't win either. Stop annoying me." He tried prying them all off then faced me. "But she still is weak enough to have a tie. What is going to happen next time? Any hints? I know, you will lose." My jaw dropped.

Not only did he call me weak, but he implied that I was going to get weaker from now, not stronger! Who the heck is he to decide it for me?!

"Shut it. I'd have won if I hadn't been-"

"What? Weak?" I knew he only meant it sarcastically, all of it but it was a scary notion for me since I was sick and would definitely only get more and more bad with the passing time if I don't learn to control my stress.

I told Konan I would wip that smirk off his pretty face but I couldn't. I was angry at myself for that. But what happened next, did wipe his stupidass smirk.

I felt ok when I regained my breath but all the fatigue and pain came back within a moment's passing and I was on my knees, clutching my heart.

Darn it all!

"Anna-"

"My medi-" I couldn't even complete my sentence, my breaths were coming that short.

"I know! Here!" Konan passed me an orange tablet and I quickly swallowed it. I was starting to feel better as a few minutes passed. The guys had dispersed, thinking I was just resting. It was alright, no need to worry them. It was Itachi's reaction I was more concerned about since he saw me in my weakness.

Konan helped me stand and right when I raised my face and saw grizzly's, I remember he had 'something' due. I balled my hand and collided it with his face. It was out of the blue so he couldn't dodge it.

"That's for calling me weak." I said between breaths and left Konan's support.

"Tch you-" Before he had time to speak another word, I hit him again.

"That's for calling for weak, a second time."

I felt satisfied now that I had taken my revenge. Konan supported me again and when the bell rang, led me to the locker room. I was glad for such a beautiful friend.
