Ch. 88 - Three Days
< Chapter 88: Three Days >
♥ Jamie’s POV: ♥
“3 days!!” I squealed, biting my lip to hide the huge smile that kept coming back upon my face.
“Aw, babe. You’re counting the days until I come home?” Justin asked, and I could picture him smiling that cute little smile he always does. I tightened my grip on the phone, longing to see his face and feel his touch already.
“Of course I am!” I said, as if it was that obvious. “I miss you so much.”
“I still miss you too but hang on, baby, we’re almost there.”
“I know we are,” I released my lip from my teeth and let an enormous smile slide across my face.
“So, Jamie..”
“Yeah?”
“Have we decided a name yet?” he asked.
“For Lil J? Not really.”
“Well, I have my top 2 picks,” he said softly, his voice going all shy.
“Awww!” I cooed. “You sound so cute, I literally just want to hug you right now!”
“Shut up,” he murmured playfully, and I could imagine him rolling his eyes with a goofy smile on his face.
“Oh you know you love me,” I winked, even though he couldn’t see me.
“Of course I love you, you just like to hear me say it,” he teased.
“You’re totally right,” I laughed, leaning back on the couch. “But enough of that, let me hear your top two picks.”
“For names? Umm.. Well, I was thinking since my mom was going to name me Jesse at first, it’d be cool if Lil J took on the name,” he admitted.
“Aww, that’d be so cute! I agree,” I beamed.
“But, like I said before, I’ve always said that I’d want a boy before a girl so he can protect her and that I’d love to name him Jason, since you know how much I love that name.”
“Yeah, you love that name a lot, Mr. Jason McCann,” I teased him on the name he had on CSI.
“Oh shush it,” he chuckled.
“Whatever you say, Jason Deeps,” I referred to his first appearance on SNL.
“Jamie!” he groaned, and I burst out laughing.
“What? It’s obvious you love the name!” I let out countless giggles.
“If I could, I would shut you up with a kiss right now,” he said in a deep, husky voice, making my heart stop.
“Justin, stop the teasing,” I murmured.
“Now you know what it’s like,” he chuckled, and I rolled my eyes, unable to stop the smile on my face. Before I could reply to the comment he had just thrown at me, I heard shuffling in the background and he spoke again. “Jamie, babe, I have to go.”
“No… Talk with me some more,” I protested.
“Jamie… Baby… Princess… My little sugar nugget… I’ll call you later tonight, okay?” he cooed.
“Sugar nugget?” I laughed.
“Shush,” he chuckled. “I’ll hear your beautiful voice later.”
“Okay bye, I love you.”
“I love you too. Say hi to Lil J for me.”
“Will do,” I smiled. “Bye.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.”
“Bye,” he chuckled.
“Byeee.”
“Buh-bye.”
“Bye,” I giggled.
“Hang up,” he said.
“No, you hang up,” I laughed.
“Jamie, are we really doing this right now?”
“You started it.”
“Just hang up.”
“You do it.”
“No, you do it.”
“No, you.”
“Justin!!” I heard Scooter yell in the background.
“Okay, I really have to go,” he chuckled.
“Alright, bye,” I giggled, shaking my head as I hung up the phone. I leaned close to my belly and caressed it slowly. “Your daddy says hi, sweetie,” I told Lil J with a huge smile on my face before hearing footsteps in a distance.
“I cannot believe you guys just did that,” Chaz rolled his eyes, entering the living room.
“Deal with it, you dork.”
“Nah, you twit,” he teased, and I laughed out loud, remembering that he used to call me that when we were little and did it again when he first came back to visit.
“So mature,” I mocked, and he chuckled, handing me a cup of milkshake. “Here, Phoebe and I made this.”
“Aww thanks, you two are so sweet,” I rested my head on his shoulder.
“No problem,” he said, slurping from his cup. I brought the straw over to my lips and began drinking before I noticed Phoebe walk in.
“Is it good?” she smiled.
“Yeah, it’s amazing. Thank you,” I said gratefully.
“It was nothing, really. Did you finish your conversation with Justin?”
“Yeah, Scooter was calling for him so he had to go,” I pouted.
“Of course,” she laughed, “but at least he comes in just 3 days!”
“I know!” I squealed. “That’s just around the corner!”
“I know!” she clapped, grabbing her keys. “I was going to the mall for a while, wanna come?”
“Sure! I need new maternity clothes anyway.”
“You do? Well, gotta get them clothes, girl!” she snapped her fingers sassily.
I burst out laughing. “Don’t ever do that again.”
“Aw man..” she pouted, then laughed with me before grabbing my crutches that leaned on the wall and passing it over to me after I finished my milkshake.
“Does your ankle still hurt?” Chaz asked, eying my cast.
“Not as much as it used to. I’m pretty sure it’s healing real fast, I sometimes forget I’m wearing this.”
“Well, ironically, you just have three more weeks with that shit before you’re free to go,” he pointed out.
“Oh yeah! I hope that goes by quickly,” I chuckled, swinging the crutches under my arms and walking towards Phoebe.
“Have fun,” Chaz called out.
“Thanks,” Phoebe and I waved before stepping out the door and locking it. We walked to where Phoebe’s car was parked and quickly got inside.
After I was seated on the passenger side, I shut the car door and looked over at Phoebe, who was sticking the keys into the ignition while biting her lip as she stifled a smile.
“What are you so happy about?” I laughed, as the car roared to life.
She looked at me innocently before shrugging. “Oh, nothing.”
“Nothing?” I raised my eyebrows teasingly.
“Yeah..” she trailed off, looking ahead of her as she pulled up into the road. “Nothing at all.”
I eyed her suspiciously. “Phoebe, come on. Just tell me.”
She finally let out a huge smile and, as she came across a red light, she stopped and looked at me.
“You really want to know?” she asked timidly.
“Yes, I really do.”
She tapped her fingers on the wheel before looking at me again.
“Noah said he loves me,” her smile widened, taking up most of her face.
“What?!” I did a double take. “He told you he loves you?!” When Phoebe nodded, I broke out into fangirl mode. “Oh my god, congratulations!! I’m so happy for you! When did he tell you? Today?”
“No, four days ago. When he brought you the chocolates,” she confessed.
“Four days ago?! Why didn’t you tell me!?” I pouted.
She shrugged, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “I was letting it sink in, I guess.”
“You guess? Well, that’s really sweet. You two are so cute,” I smiled sincerely.
“Thanks. He even got me flowers. They’re still up in my room,” she smiled, hitting the pedal as soon as the light turned green.
“I didn’t know he could be so romantic,” I laughed teasingly and Phoebe instantly joined me.
“Neither did I,” she giggled.
“Did you tell him you love him back?”
The minute her cheeks tinted red, I already knew my answer. “Well of course I did. I love him.”
“Awww!!” I shouted, clapping twice. “Little Phoebe is in looove!”
“Shut up!” she laughed. “You’re in love too!”
“Well yes, but that’s obvious,” I rolled my eyes, my heart skipping a beat at the reference to Justin.
“I swear, no couple is cuter than the two of you,” she said in a solid voice, and it was my turn to blush.
“Thank you,” I said shyly.
“I better be the fucking bridesmaid when you two get married,” she winked teasingly and my butterflies swarmed my stomach at the mention of marriage.
“Phoebe..” I whispered. “I don’t-… I don’t know if he’s even going to propose. I don’t even know if he’s thought about it before or if he actually considers it. He’s probably not even ready… Maybe he never will be…”
“Jamie, are you kidding me right now?” she came across yet another red light and stopped the car to look at me. “The boy is in love with you. I’m pretty sure his proposal will come sooner than you think.”
“I don’t think he’s paying any attention to the whole marriage topic,” I said truthfully, giving her a shrug of my shoulders.
“Then talk to him about it. Be the first one to bring it up,” she suggested.
“No…” I said softly. “I might come off too strong. He might not like where I’ll be heading with that conversation.”
“Just be honest and tell him you want to at least talk about it. Tell him you love him so it’s only natural to think about those things. Don’t just go up to him and be like, ‘yo, when you gonna propose?’ or something like that.”
I laughed. “Maybe I’ll do just that. I’m still not sure… I’m thinking I should wait for him to come to me. If he really loves me, he’d think about marriage at some point and I think it’s important for us to have that discussion one day but maybe not so soon, you know? We’re focusing on Lil J right now.”
“Mhhm, whatever you say,” she winked, once again resuming the drive towards the mall. I let out a tired sigh and leaned back on the car seat, rubbing my temples.
“You okay there?” Phoebe glanced at me before returning her focus back to driving.
“Yeah, I’m just… A little stressed… Being pregnant on crutches while missing your baby daddy who’s not even in the country and wondering where our relationship stands and whether or not we’re ready for marriage is a tiring thing.”
“Damn girl,” Phoebe laughed softly. “I’m sorry you feel that way, I mean.. We can go back home if you want to lay down.”
“No, no, it’s okay. I’m actually looking forward to this. Just you and me shopping at the mall like the old days.”
“You know it!” she gave me another smile and before I knew it, we arrived at the mall. However, the entire time Phoebe and I wandered the mall, all I could think about was Justin.
We went into a few stores and Phoebe picked out a couple different outfits before we headed to the maternity store, where I bought a few things myself.
“Hey Phoebs?” I called out to her as we walked out from the last store.
“Yeah?” she turned to look at me. She was carrying all the bags since I had to use my crutches but she didn’t seem to mind.
“I want to buy Justin a little welcome home gift,” a smile curled upon my lips.
“Well I can’t say no to that, now can I?” she smirked.
“No, not really,” I laughed. “But what do you think I should get him?”
“Condoms,” she muttered.
“What?”
“I said gum drops,” she coughed, and I eyed her up and down, reading her expression.
“Really? Because it sounded like you said condoms, you weirdo,” I rolled my eyes and she burst out laughing.
“It’s a great gift for him! You should teach him how to use one,” she said, then pointed at my belly.
“In our defense, we didn’t use protection the first time so it’s not that he doesn’t know how to use one,” I explained.
“How do you know he secretly really doesn’t?” she grinned and I smacked her arm.
“Stop being a smartass,” I pouted. “I’m sure he knows how to use a freaking condom, Phoebe. You just stick it on your dick.”
Phoebe’s eyes widened and she burst out laughing really hard. “Ha-ha oh god, that was definitely the pregnancy hormones talking.”
I slapped my forehead and shook my head, dragging her along. “Shhh!”
“Next time Justin calls, I dare you to ask him if he really does know,” she smartly retorted.
“I will, if that’s what you want,” I glared at her in a challenging way.
“Alright, and if he doesn’t, then you owe me $5,” she smirked.
“And if he does, you owe me $5,” I snapped my fingers.
“What if he’s lying?”
“He wouldn’t lie to me.”
“What if he does, though?”
“Can we please stop talking about this in public?” I rolled my eyes, walking off to a random store to try and get Justin a gift. I heard Phoebe’s footsteps behind me as she tried catching up.
“Ask him next time he calls,” she said.
“That’s tonight.”
“Good,” she said, satisfied at how soon she thought she was getting her stupid five dollars.
We ended up walking around to a few more stores until I found a perfect gift and then we got inside Phoebe’s car and settled all the bags in the back seats before driving off back home. We bought some pizza on the way and ate some with Chaz as soon as we got back. By the time we were done eating (and Chaz was done burping in every possible place in the kitchen) it was around 9pm and we all sat down to watch a movie.
Thanks to Chaz, we ended up watching the Spongebob movie, even though we saw it three billion times before and the last time I saw that was a few years ago. During the film, my phone vibrated, notifying me I had a new text message. I opened it and read what it said:
From: Justin <3
Message:
hey baby, go on Skype ;)
I opened up my laptop and quickly logged on to Skype, excited at the fact that I’ll get to see his face and, soon enough, I was video chatting with Justin.
“Hi babe,” he winked, blowing me a kiss.
“Hey,” I giggled, pretending to catch it and put it on my lips. “How’d the concert go?”
“It was loud, as always,” he smiled, scratching the back of his head and throwing me a smile. I couldn’t help but notice he seemed happier now. After telling him about Nathan, it was pretty rare to see him this way.
“Is that him?” Phoebe called from across the room and I rolled my eyes.
“Yes, it’s him.”
“Ask him! Do it!” she stood from her seat and came closer, still out of view from Justin.
“Ask me what?” Justin smirked, running a hand through his hair.
“Umm… Uhh,” I played with my fingers. “I just wanted to ask you a quick, embarrassing question..”
He raised his eyebrows. “I love quick, embarrassing questions. Ask away.”
I laughed, shaking my head before saying, “You don’t understand… It’s a weird one.”
“Just ask him,” Phoebe muttered impatiently and I shot her a glare.
“Alright.. Umm..” I paused as he leaned closer towards the camera curiously. “Do you know-… Umm...”
“Do I know… what?”
“Do you know how to use a condom?” I came out with it, feeling tiny. Justin paused and stared hard at me, his eyebrows twitching in both surprise and confusion as his mouth gaped slightly open before he closed it again.
“Jamie… what the fuck?” he cracked a smile, and Phoebe burst out laughing.
“Ignore her,” I stifled my giggles. “Just answer the question, babe.”
“Why do you want to know?” he asked with an amused grin.
“Does it matter why?” I laughed.
“Umm, I think it does.”
“I’ll tell you after you answer me,” I covered my mouth to keep myself from laughing any further.
“Well if you must know… Yeah, I do know how to use a condom. You happy now?” he chuckled.
“HA!” I shouted at Phoebe. “You owe me five dollars, bitch.”
The minute Phoebe collapsed on the floor, dying of laughter, I knew I wasn’t getting my money until after she was done with her stupid laughing fit.
“This was a dare?” Justin asked, his eyes piercing into mine.
I nodded, giggling quietly.
“You little…” he pointed an accusing finger at me before bursting out laughing along with Phoebe and I just watched my two best friends laugh for a while before Phoebe finally stood up.
“I gotta admit, you do deserve those $5. Not only because you were right, but because you had the guts to ask your own boyfriend an embarrassing question so I admire you for that,” she praised me. A smirk formed at the corner of my lips as I looked up at her.
“Yeah, yeah, now where’s my money?”
