Ch. 65 - Receiving News
< Chapter 65: Receiving News >
♥ Justin’s POV: ♥
“I need to go,” I said in a hurry, jumping from the couch and grabbing my keys.
“What?! Where are you going?” Ryan asked, walking behind me as I headed towards the front door.
“Where do you think I’m going?” I asked, turning around to face him.
“You’re not going to-…?”
“Oh, but I am,” I said, grabbing the doorknob and twisting it.
“Justin, are you seriously that convinced something bad will happen to her? You don’t have to run after her because she’s in a car,” Ryan sighed.
“It’s not just that, Ryan. She’s mad at me. It’s my job to apologize,” I said.
“What do you mean it’s your job?” he narrowed his eyes.
“You’ve got a lot to learn about girls, Butsy,” I slapped his shoulder playfully and headed outside to where my car was parked. I could hear Ryan yelling at me to just get back in there but I ignored his calls, getting into the car and starting the engine.
I grabbed onto the wheel, pulling the car into the street and driving to what I think I remember Noah lives in. I began to tap the top of the wheel with my fingers, making a random rhythm while biting my lip anxiously. That’s when a million thoughts rushed into my head all at once.
Selena. Jamie. Take a break? No. I love her. But maybe that’s why I should make it easier for her.
What if fame isn’t the life for Jamie? It’s not a safe life for the baby either. I have to think of them for once and put my needs aside. What would be safer for them? Paparazzi and fans swarming into places at once, or a peaceful neighborhood where no one sends death threats? The answer is pretty obvious for that one, but now I have to figure this thing out. No, I have to figure love out. But that’s impossible. All I know about love is that Jamie’s the one for me. I just can’t-.. I can’t live without her. It literally breaks my heart.
Then there’s Selena, who has given me nothing but facts that are true. Good points, should I say. She’s right about so many things I haven’t thought about before. I’m getting stuck just thinking about it.
What the fuck should I do?
I’ve been thinking Jamie is all I need. She’s all I want, too. She’s everything I ever dreamed of. I’m so in love with her that it hurts. I don’t know why I keep letting her slip from my fingers like that. I’m so overprotective and it’s hurting our relationship. Her pregnancy hormones aren’t helping either. In fact, I don’t know what it’s like to even be in a relationship with her without her pregnancy hormones. It’s true— we began dating when she got pregnant. So does that mean that’s what’s causing most of our arguments?
I don’t know. But no one said love was easy. Ever. This all just shows how much we love each other. After all, no love is necessarily perfect and without a single flaw.
I’ll always love her, but... is she mine to keep?
An insanely loud car honk snapped me out of my daze and I looked up instantly, seeing a car speeding towards me. My heart jumped and I immediately began to turn the car around to drive around him but it was too late.
I heard the sound of a loud smash and my hearing was distorted, while my vision completely blacked out.

♥ Jamie’s POV: ♥
“Hey, you made it!” Phoebe greeted me at the door.
“Yup!” I forced a smile as she let me inside and shut the door behind us.
“Is something wrong?” Phoebe asked, seeing right through my act.
“What? No, it’s just… the hormones,” I lied.
“Oh,” her voice sounded unconvinced but I guess she was letting it slide. “Want to get started on those cookies now?”
“Sure! We should start the brownies after all the cookies are done,” I suggested.
“Okay cool, let’s do this!” she cheered, grabbing my arm and dragging me to the kitchen where we encountered Noah, with his face covered in cookie dough. “Ugh, Noah!” Phoebe complained, “I told you to wait for us!”
“Sorry,” he chuckled, wiping his face with a paper towel. “I got excited?”
“Sure you did,” I laughed, walking over to him and taking some of the dough from his face onto my index finger, only to lick it afterwards. “Mmm, tastes good,” I giggled.
“Jamie!” Phoebe laughed, “Let’s get to work now!”
And that’s exactly what we did. Then, about an hour later, every single cookie and brownie was stored in a container that Phoebe planned to carry over to her grandmother’s. I was thinking about going back to Justin by now, because I was starting to miss him but I was still angry at him.
Who is he to tell me where I can and cannot go? Or when, or why? He’s actually becoming a little bit of a jerk, and I know he could just be a bit worried but that’s a little too far. He has to realize that I can take care of myself and that I don’t need him 24/7, even though I do prefer to have him close to me as much (and as long) as possible.
I love him to death, I really do. But these arguments over nothing are becoming annoying. One of the benefits of us being best friends is that we know each other inside out. Our flaws, our perfections, our likes, our dislikes, what we absolutely love, what we unquestionably hate, and everything in between but are still able to put up with each other. There’s nothing we can’t do if we stick together… So why are we pushing each other away?
“Are you coming with us?” Noah’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
“I-.. I guess,” I sighed.
“You don’t seem too sure that you want to..” he noted, looking into my eyes.
“Well, I was just debating over whether or not there was something I was supposed to do, or something like that,” I made up a random excuse.
“Alright.. Well, Phoebe and I are going to drive there in my car so it’s completely fine if you tag along,” he smiled.
“Thanks,” I smiled back, following him out the door.
--
“Phoebe! You’ve gotten so big, sweetie, it’s remarkable!” Phoebe’s grandmother, Grace, squealed as she squeezed Phoebs into a bone-crushing hug.
“Aww thanks, Grandma,” Phoebe smiled, hugging her back. “I brought Jamie and Noah with me, if you don’t mind.”
Grace’s eyes traveled over to Noah and I, who stood next to each other while Phoebe greeted her.
“Oh yes, Noah! I remember you, you’ve visited once, haven’t you?”
“Yes ma’am!” Noah smiled.
“And Jamie! Jesus Christ, you too are getting so big! It must be the baby, aren’t you pregnant?” she asked with a small smile.
My cheeks flushed red, “Uhh yeah.. So you’ve heard..”
“Honey, family rumors get around pretty fast and you’re basically family. But still, I’m so happy for you! But we’ll have a little problem if Justin isn’t the father,” she smirked.
“No, he is the father,” I giggled.
“Good,” she laughed, and I remembered Justin and I’s argument this morning and my smile quickly faded.
“Hey grandma? We brought you a little something,” Phoebe said, taking out the container with the brownies and cookies we made.
“Oh dear, you children are so sweet, it’s a blessing!” she said, shocked that we baked them just for her.
“It’s nothing, really, we just thought you’d like a small little treat,” Noah smiled lightly, opening the lid and offering her to take one.
“That’s so nice of you kids. But I’ll only accept this on one condition..”
“What?” Phoebe and I said in unison, then looked at each other and giggled.
“That all of us share them together.”
--
Noah, Grace, Phoebe and I all decided to hang out in the backyard, sit in a few chairs and eat the cookies and brownies we made while having a nice little chat. We talked about various different things, laughed about other stuff, and just generally had a good time. I’ve always loved Phoebe’s grandmother. She’s so funny and full of life no matter how much she ages. She gets us as teenagers also, and that’s pretty cool too.
While Grace was in the middle of telling an embarrassing story from when she was in middle school, my phone began to ring in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw that the caller I.D had Ryan’s name on it.
“Sorry, I gotta take this real fast,” I apologized for the interruption.
“Oh that’s okay, take your time!” Grace said sweetly. I thanked her and excused myself back into the house. On my way to the living room, I pressed the answer button and spoke into the phone.
“Ry?” I said.
“Hello? Jamie?” Ryan’s voice breathed on the other line. He sounded really worried and scared.
“Yeah, what’s wrong?” I asked in confusion.
“J-Justin,” he stuttered.
“Justin? What about him?” I said, my heartbeat picking up.
“I’m here at the hospital, Jamie… Justin’s hurt. He’s been involved in a car accident.”
Are you fucking kidding me?
The love of my life is… hurt? Is it my fault?
“Ryan, you’re joking,” I said calmly. There was a pause at the other line and all I could hear was the sound of him breathing heavily. “Tell me you’re JOKING!” I suddenly yelled as loud as I could, feeling tears forming in my eyes.
“I wish I was,” he answered quietly, causing me to drop to my knees.
“Jamie! Whoa, you okay?” Noah rushed inside, and I realized he, Phoebe and Grace must’ve heard my scream.
“No!” I sobbed, letting my phone drop to the floor. Noah leaned down next to me, brushing strands of hair out of my eyes.
“What happened?” I heard Phoebe’s voice behind us.
“Jamie?” Grace asked worriedly, but I only continued to sob into both my hands, which were covering my face by now. Suddenly, my head shot up and I looked outside.
“I need to go,” I said frantically. “I need to leave. Now.”
“What? Where?” Noah asked.
“I need to GO!” I yelled in tears, picking up my phone and standing up, grabbing Noah by both shoulders. “Noah, I need you right now. Please drive me to the hospital.”
“Whoa, what happened? What’s wrong, wh-“
I cut him off, “-Listen to me! Please! Justin’s in the hospital. He’s hurt, Noah, he’s hurt! I need to be there as soon as possible. Please!!” I cried out, feeling my heart racing faster than usual.
Noah’s eyes widened and a look of sympathy crossed his face. I heard Phoebe let out a loud, surprised gasp beside me.
“Let’s go, quickly!” Phoebe suddenly shouted. “Bye grandma, it was nice seeing you but this is an emergency!”
Phoebe gave Grace a quick kiss on the cheek and a small hug before dragging Noah and I forward and out of the house. We all got into Noah’s car and he pulled into the road, driving as fast as he could to the hospital while I bawled my eyes out.
This can’t be happening. Not my doofus. Not the love of my life.
I give up. I take back everything I said about him. I just need him back. I just need him to be alive.

Ooooh PLOT TWIST. hehe
Btw, QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT:
To those who are constantly asking me when I’m going to update, you should probably know that I update every weekend (Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it varies depending on my schedule). I know that seems like a lot and for those of you complaining you’re waiting FOREVER for an update or comparing it to a month’s time… it’s only 7 DAYS or less if I have more time. Pretty please understand that my school work comes before anything else, and that’s what I’m focused on, specially because it’s getting harder.
So it’s either I update with whatever works for me, or I don’t update at all.
But besides that…
What’d you think of the little twist there?
Will Justin live?
Maybe I should have him die for the fun of it ;)
Love you all! <3
