< Chapter 59: Lost In Confusion... >

♥ Justin’s POV: ♥

“I have to go,” I muttered, turning to walk out the door without another word. I took two steps forward and a voice made me look up.

“Stop!”

I scanned the group of my friends that stared at me as I tried to figure out who had just told me to stop. But of course I knew. How could I not recognize that voice? My most favorite voice in the entire world.

“Just hold on a minute,” Jamie said, her voice shaking and I was scared she was about to start crying. I was still very mad about her and Ryan but… that voice. How vulnerable she sounded. How if I was to walk out now, she’d probably break to pieces. I couldn’t take it. I was always so weak around her. She always had me wrapped around her pretty little finger.

“What?” I asked, making sure my voice sounded stern.

“I… I need to talk to you,” she said quietly.

“Me? You need to talk to me?” I scoffed.

“Yes, I do,” her voice got a bit angrier.

“And what could you possibly have to talk to me about?” I yelled, and I’m pretty sure that only made her angrier.

“Are you fucking asking me that question right now? Seriously!?” she raised her voice, causing the hearts of everyone in the room to drop. Everyone was just staring at the two of us as we screamed at each other right in front of their eyes.

“Did you not hear me correctly? I clearly asked that question,” I rolled my eyes.

That was when she exploded with anger.

“THIS is something I’ll never, ever get about you! Just yesterday I admitted to myself that I was wrong. I overreacted and it was just stupid of me to push you away. I felt guilty that I made you feel so broken. It pained me more to know how much I hurt you than it pained me to know that you cheated on me. But fuck that! I practically rushed to your house last night to apologize. All I needed was to know that you’re still here for me, and that I didn’t lose you. But no, you want to know what I find!? I find you practically ready to fuck your ex, Selena. The girl you cheated on me with, and guess what? You cheated again. So go ahead. Leave. See if I care. Actually, you know what? I do care. But clearly you don’t,” she yelled, causing all of our friends to gasp at what they had heard. Everyone was clearly shocked to hear about what Jamie just said about Selena and I, but so was I.

“What?” I yelled back, “Where the fuck did you get that from? I didn’t have sex with Selena! I would never do that to you!”

She burst out in tears, “I saw you Justin. It’s no use hiding it. I saw it. With my own eyes. She was unbuttoning her shirt and-… and-…”

“-That doesn’t mean we had sex,” I said, softer this time.

“Then what was it? What could she have possibly been doing?”

“She was taking out a piece of paper to show me! I don’t know why she kept it in her fucking bra, but it’s true!” I defended myself. That was when I remembered that I brought the article with me. I was planning to show it to Phoebe and Chaz so we could talk about it, but I completely forgot about it until now. “In fact…” I trailed off, pulling out the folded piece of paper out of my pocket. “This is it right here!”

I threw the paper down on the floor and looked at her expectantly, “Go ahead. Read it. Fucking read it,” I prompted her. She looked up at me, her eyes full of tears, making no movement to pick it up. That’s when Chaz stepped in, picking the paper up and bravely unfolding it. I guess curiosity got the best of Jamie because she rushed to Chaz’s side to read the article along with him. I crossed my eyes and glared at the two, waiting for them to finish reading. Phoebe, Ryan and Noah were just staring at both Jamie and Chaz to see their reactions.

Then, the minute Jamie’s eyes widened, I knew she was well aware of what she had done.

“What!?” she said, looking up at me and shaking her head. “That’s complete bullshit! I never-… we never-…”

“You and Ryan kissed!?” Chaz blurted out to Jamie in shock. Everyone gasped again and Ryan stepped up this time.

“No we didn’t! Why the hell would you even t-“

“Read it and weep,” Chaz threw the paper at Ryan, who instantly reacted and caught the page. His eyes quickly scanned the article and he looked up at me.

“This is a complete lie, Justin. We’re your best friends, why would we do that to you!? Plus, I don’t like Jamie that way! She’s pregnant with your child, and she’s just my best friend, that’s all! We never kissed, either. It’s true that we hugged because she was crying when she ran off after you told her you cheated. But that’s all we did— hug. This paparazzo probably wanted to earn a few extra bucks and told these people we kissed. But trust me, Justin, you’re my bro and I’ll never backstab you like that. Ever,” he explained, and I scanned his eyes for signs of honesty and, actually, it was all I found.

He was telling the truth.

“He’s right Justin,” Jamie added, her face was red as tears continued to drip down her face. “I love you. And only you. And let me prove it to you right now,” she said, picking up her purse and searching for something. I watched carefully as she pulled out a very familiar looking case. Very slowly, she opened the case and took out something I could recognize from a mile away.

The promise ring.

She dropped the case back onto her purse and slid the ring back on her finger, looking back at me. Everything was dead silent. I could feel our friends continue to watch us as if this was the most fascinating movie they’ve ever seen in their lives.

“I’m sorry. I’m really sorry,” Jamie began, “Taking off the promise ring was a mistake I swear I’ll never ever do, ever again. This ring is really important to you, but it is to me too. It represents our love, Justin. And no, abortion never crossed my mind. I wouldn’t dare abort this baby, I don’t care what the fuck anyone tries to do to get me to kill our baby, I’d rather die before I could kill it myself. I guess that just slipped out of my mouth because I was really determined to make you let go of me… which drives me to the next thing. I’m sorry I overreacted. Maybe this is all just a big lesson that I’m going to overreact a lot. I’m pregnant, in case you forgot, and this is going to happen a lot more often. So I also apologize for anything else I’m going to overreact to in the future. My hormones, believe it or not, are all over the place. But it doesn’t mean I love you any less. I could never do that. You’re my everything— literally. You’re my friend, my best friend, my boyfriend, my love, my heart, my key to happiness. You care about me in a way no one else does, and I really, really care about you too. I’m really, really, really sorry and I’ll say it forever. But if you ever wonder if I ever stopped loving you, the answer is never. I wouldn’t dare stop loving you. In fact, I can’t imagine a world without you… my doofus,” she smiled through her tears, looking deep into my eyes.

My heart skipped a beat as everyone around us let out a loud, “Aww!!!” and I felt my eyes water. I immediately uncrossed my arms, looking down at the ground and trying really hard not to blush. I raised my head back up to meet her mesmerizing eyes, who was watching me closely for my next move. Without thinking, I began walking very slowly towards the direction she was standing in. Everyone in the room went silent again, curiously watching me as I approached Jamie with a blank expression.

When I finally reached her, I stopped and looked deep into her eyes, my hands slightly shaking as I raised them, gently resting them on her waist. I felt her body shiver only slightly, and it made my heart flutter in satisfaction, knowing I can still do that to her.

My hands trailed over to her stomach, and I caressed her softly. It was pretty noticeable by now that she’s pregnant, and holding her belly like this makes me want to cry a waterfall. This is our baby in there. Inside her belly… that’s a growing creature. And it belongs to not her, and not me, but to us. The two of us. It’s our baby.

I leaned in close to her ear, wrapping my arms around her. Gently, I brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and whispered, “I love you too. Always.”

With that, I kissed her. I kissed her slowly, carefully, and passionately. I kissed her as if I haven’t kissed her in 50 years, and I’ll tell you what, it felt amazing. I will never, ever get tired of this feeling. Her lips against mine, her heartbeat against my chest.

This is the woman I love. This is the girl I live for. If it wasn’t for Jamie, I’d be lost. She’s my everything, and nothing will stop me from loving her. Ever. Even up in heaven, I’ll make sure to tell her that I love her. And I’ll never get tired of telling her.

“YESSS!!”

I pulled away from the sensation of Jamie’s lips, disturbed by the sudden yell. I turned around to see Chaz jumping up and down, doing a creepy little dance.

“THEY’RE BACK! THEY’RE BACK! JUSTINN AND JAMIEE ARE BACK, BITCHES! I TOLD YOU ALL IT WOULD HAPPEN. THEY’RE BACK TOGETHER AND CHAZ IS A SEXY BEAST. OHHH YEAHHH!!!” he screamed, jumping on the couch and kicking the pillows.

“CHAZ! Shut the fuck up!” Ryan laughed, slapping his forehead. My heart skipped a beat when I heard a heavenly giggle beside me. I turned my head to see Jamie laughing cutely at Chaz’s behavior and I felt my cheeks heat up.

Why is it that even her laugh makes me go insane? I truly, madly, deeply am in love with Jamie Lynn Hughes. And I’ll never change a thing.

“Hold up!” I yelled over Ryan and Chaz’s banter. “I owe you guys an apology too. I’m sorry for even believing that article about Ryan and Jamie. I guess I was just emotionally unstable and I believed everything I was told at the moment. I should’ve known Selena would try to do that. And.. I’m sorry. I really am. And Jamie,” I turned to look deep into her eyes, “I don’t care if you overreact again, or have constant mood swings. If this is what it takes to have a baby together, bring it on, I don’t care. I love you and I’m willing to do anything for you and for our baby. I’m sorry, babe,” I apologized, kissing her nose.

“It’s okay. At least it’s all sorted out. The important thing is that I didn’t lose you,” she smiled, sending butterflies all over my stomach at how cute she is.

“I really do love you,” I spoke from the bottom of my heart, and Jamie’s smile widened.

“I love you more.”
