Ch. 58 - The Article
< Chapter 58: The Article >
♥ Justin’s POV: ♥
As I was walking downstairs to head out of Ryan’s house, my phone beeped twice, notifying me I had gotten a message. I paused to look at the screen and gulped.
1 New Message
from: Selena
“Who’s that?” a voice startled me. I looked up to see Ryan approaching me.
“No one,” I answered immediately, continuing my walk towards the front door.
“Are you leaving?” he asked quietly.
“Yeah. Thank you for everything,” I said, not really paying much attention, except I actually meant that thank you.
“No problem. Be safe,” he waved at me, and I disappeared out the door.
A few hours ago, Selena texted me up and we talked about what happened at the club. She said she wanted to see me in person and that she wanted to apologize for everything. I gave in and told her to meet me at my house at almost 9pm, but decided not to tell anyone, not even my friends. I thought that maybe they’d freak out a bit, and I didn’t want them to tell Jamie just yet. I can do that myself. Plus, I knew no one would be home until tomorrow, so now’s my chance.
I hurried my way back to my house and thought the least I can do is be nice and prepare snacks for us. I didn’t really know what she’d eat so I just made popcorn, brought out some crackers and a few bags of cookies along with simple water to drink. I looked at the clock and it was already past nine so I decided to sit and wait patiently until she came. Almost half an hour later, the show I was watching got interrupted by the sound of the doorbell ringing.
I took a deep breath and stepped forward, opening the front door to reveal a smiling Selena who was dressed very… provocative if I must say so myself.
“I haven’t seen you in so long!” she squealed, leaning forward and crushing me in a hug. I picked her up and brought her inside the house so I could close the door as fast as possible.
“But we saw each other at the club,” I smirked, pulling away from her grip.
“Yeah but that doesn’t count. We were both drunk,” she giggled, and I couldn’t help but smile at her. She always had this cute little giggle I’ve always loved about her.
“True,” I chuckled, “hey, want to go sit down?” I pointed towards the couch and she nodded.
“Sure! Thank you,” she said, sitting at one end while I sat near.
“So..” I clapped my hands, “you wanted to talk.”
“Yup! I just wanted to apologize for my behavior at the club. You know.. pulling in to kiss you and all,” she began.
“That’s alright. I’m also sorry for that too,” I said.
She nodded and looked around the house until she noticed what was on the table. “Are those snacks for me?” she gasped.
I raised my eyebrows. “Yeah, if you’d like one, please don’t hesitate to take some,” I said in the most friendliest voice I could pull off.
“Thanks!” she beamed, taking a cookie and looking at me. “Do you mind if I use the bathroom real quick?”
“Not at all,” I shook my head.
“Thank you.” She excused herself and stood up, remembering where the bathroom in this house was by the many times she’s been here. I let out another sigh and leaned back on the couch.
I hope this night ends quickly.
I waited a few more minutes with my eyes fixed on the television, except I wasn’t really paying much attention to it. After a while, I heard Selena come out of the bathroom, her footsteps approaching me.
“So how’s Jamie?” she asked, causing me to look up at her.
“Good,” I answered, not wanting to give any details on how our relationship was.
“She’s pregnant… right?” her voice lowered.
“Right…” I spoke softly.
“I honestly didn’t see that one coming,” she said, resting her hands on her waist. “But it’s hard not to find out when it’s all over the news.”
“I guess so,” I whispered.
“You want to know what else is on the news?” she smiled lightly, and I forced myself to smile back. Then I noticed she was unbuttoning her shirt and my eyes widened.
She reached her hand into her bra, pulling out a small, folded piece of paper. I tensed up as she sat back down next to me, her body touching mine.
“Read this,” she spoke softly into my ear, as she unfolded the paper and handed it to me. At first, I sort of hesitated to touch the paper that had been in… well… her bra. But I decided to suck it up and be a man about it.
I took the paper from her hand and realized it was a print out from a celebrity news article. My eyes scanned the page until it came across the headline that read:
Justin Bieber’s pregnant girlfriend cheats on him with friend.
My eyes widened and I began reading the first paragraph.
Jamie Hughes is pop star sensation Justin Bieber’s long time best friend. Their relationship seemed to grow pretty close. So close, in fact, that the two of them are expecting a baby together according to the video the two released of themselves not too long ago, explaining the situation. The news shocked millions of girls, rolling in several different reactions from Bieber’s committed fans. However, it seems as though carrying a millionaire’s baby isn’t enough for Jamie, as she was spotted hugging quite affectionately with what seems to be Ryan Butler— best friends of both Justin and Jamie.
According to a paparazzo, Ryan and Jamie hugged a few times and even shared a quick kiss before they parted to their separate paths. We’re all wondering, how is Justin and Jamie’s relationship looking like now?
Leave us your comments and reactions below!
My mouth gaped open and I reread the paragraphs a couple of times to make sure I didn’t misread or misinterpret something. Did Jamie really mean it when she told me she was done with me? And really? Ryan? Since when did those two have feelings for each other?
I looked up at Selena, fighting back the tears in my eyes.
“Wh-When… was this?” I stuttered.
“Pretty recent. I think yesterday,” she gave me a sympathetic look. “Now listen, you should know that I’ll always be here for you no matter what. If you need anything, call me up. I just had to talk to you to apologize and to make sure you knew the truth about your, so called, ‘friends’. Anyway, I gotta go. Have a good night, Justin,” she said, buttoning her shirt back up and picking up her purse.
“G-goodnight,” I said, trying really hard not to break down in front of her.
“You can keep the article, but you know where it’s been,” she gave me a seductive wink before leaving towards the door. “Good night.”
And just like that, she was gone.
-----
“Hello?” I heard Chaz’s voice speak through the phone the next day.
“Hey bro, how are you?” I greeted him, putting on my shoes.
“Great…” he said, his voice sounded a bit surprised, “…you sound happier this morning.”
I chuckled, “I guess I’m just trying to forget everything.”
I promised myself that today, no matter how hurt I was, I was going to put on a smile and try to have a good day. I think I deserve a laid back day for once after all of this stuff happening. But most importantly, I wanted to hang with my boy and forget about that little incident with Ryan and Jamie. I don’t really want to face Jamie… and I most definitely don’t want to see Ryan. I guess I just feel a little betrayed by them.
“That’s good, that’s good,” Chaz said.
“Yeah. But I guess the reason I called was I wanted to know if we could hang out, possibly?” I asked, walking down to the living room.
“Oh sure! You can come join me, I’m at Phoebe’s house here with her,” he agreed.
“Just Phoebe?”
“And Noah,” he added.
“That’s it?”
“That’s it.”
“Alright, I’ll be there in five minutes,” I told him, and not much long after that was when we hung up.
I made my way out into the beautiful morning, inhaling in the fresh air before jogging over to Phoebe’s house. I got there pretty quickly and didn’t waste any time in ringing the doorbell.
“Hey, good morning!” Phoebe smiled at me, opening the door wide enough for me to go in.
“Good morning to you, too,” I greeted her, sitting next to Chaz on the couch and putting my arm around him. “Morning, Chaz,” I smirked.
“Morning, shit face,” he grinned, grabbing my arm and pulling it back towards me. I watched as Phoebe approached us, her smile was even wider now.
“You seem pretty happy now, that’s great!” she commented, sitting on a chair across from us.
“Well I just thought that if my mood was great today then things will get better,” I shrugged, not really agreeing with myself so much on that.
“That’s the spirit!” Phoebe clapped. I rolled my eyes at her and then realized something.
“Where’s Noah?” I asked.
“Right here,” a voice creeped up behind me, scaring the shit out of me. I turned around to see Noah giving me the weirdest look I’ve ever seen and I burst out laughing, punching him in the arm.
“What the fuck, bro? That was so uncalled for,” I chuckled. But that’s what I need. To be around friends that could help me forget about my fucked up life.
“I just wanted to brighten my morning by scaring the hell out of you,” he winked, sitting on the chair next to Phoebe and sliding closer towards her. “Hey Phoebs,” he said, pinching her cheek.
Phoebe giggled and smacked away his hand, “Hi babe.”
I groaned out loud, “Oh please don’t start kissing in front of me. I don’t need to see that, specially right now.”
They both pulled away from each other and gave me a sympathetic look.
“Sorry,” Phoebe muttered.
“That’s fine,” I said grumpily, leaning my head on Chaz’s shoulder, which he didn’t seem to mind me doing.
“Just have your bromance with Chaz or something, it’ll make you feel better!” Phoebe suggested, and Chaz’s eyes widened.
“No! I don’t want to kiss him!” he instantly protested.
“You don’t have to, it’s a bromance,” Phoebe laughed to herself, and I pulled my head away from Chaz’s shoulder, disturbed by the thought of him kissing me.
Just then, the doorbell rang loudly, causing Phoebe to stand up and walk towards the front door. Why is there so many people wanting to see Phoebe now?
I shifted my attention towards the show Chaz was watching when I heard someone greet Phoebe. Except that voice sounded way too familiar. I turned my head towards the direction of her front door, waiting for the person to walk in. As soon as he did, my heart stopped.
Ryan.
Why? Of all places, he had to come here now? Just to my luck…
“Hey Noah, hi Chaz, hey Justin, how are you guys?” he said casually, sitting next to Noah. I would’ve replied with something but I realized Ryan didn’t come alone. Someone came in after him and that’s when my heart really stopped.
“Shit…” I said to myself as I watched Jamie walk in. She locked eyes with me and immediately tensed, sitting next to Ryan and far away from me.
Of course she’d sit next to Ryan.
I felt a pair of eyes look at me and my gaze flickered to meet the eyes of Chaz. By that look on his face, he already knew how awkward it was for me to be here, and I shot him a weak smile, giving him an apologetic look.
I couldn’t help but look back at Jamie, and my eyes scanned her hand to see that the promise ring was nowhere to be found. I already knew she took it off— I saw it right in front of my eyes— but seeing it again now really shatters my heart to pieces. I guess she really didn’t lie when she said she was done with me.
The air around me became intense, and it feels like everything had gone silent and everyone was just watching me for my next move. I couldn’t take the tension anymore, so I immediately stood up.
“I have to go,” I muttered, turning to walk out the door without another word.
