Ch. 43 - How The Rest Went
< Chapter 43: How The Rest Went >
♥ Justin's POV: ♥
I looked at my reflection in the mirror, adjusting my tie. I was currently changing into the fancy tuxedo I had brought for the dinner in the guy's bathroom while Jamie changed into her dress in the girl's.
I locked eyes with myself as I let out a deep sigh. I hope the dinner goes perfect. I don't know why I'm so worried about it, since so far the date has been the best I've ever been on. I just want tonight to be special, and so far it's been nothing but exactly that.
After fixing my hair, I exited the bathroom and decided to sit down while I waited for Jamie. I began to hear series of sound and I guess there was music playing in the lobby or something. I pulled out my phone and checked if I had any text messages but, of course, it's as if everyone didn't want to interrupt the first date and I haven't gotten a single message to interrupt our moment.
"Justin?" I heard Jamie call from inside the bathroom. "Are you out there?"
"Yeah, babe," I replied, "I'm sitting right here."
"Okay, I'm coming out now," she announced, making me a little excited. I can just imagine how beautiful she looks right now, as always.
When I heard the door opening up, I immediately stood up and she came into my view. She wore an elegant, black dress with other jewelry like a bracelet, the promise ring, shining earrings, and a small necklace. Her hair was bouncing off her shoulders as she walked towards me, and I swallowed hard.
Beautiful would be an understatement of how she really looked. She looked... Stunning... Sexy... Breathtaking... She's gorgeous, dazzling... and much much more.
"What do you think?" she twirled around to show off her dress but my jaw just dropped instead of a reply coming out of my mouth.
"I think I want to tear that dress off of you tonight," I mumbled, eyeing her up and down.
Mmm... Them curves...
I licked my lips and wrapped my arms around her waist. I kissed her cheek lightly and watched them blush red.
"Let's go." I whispered softly in her ear, reaching for her hand and intertwining our fingers. She followed me silently as I made my way out to the lobby. Suddenly, all the noise I heard earlier increased dramatically, and I realized it wasn't music playing.. it was shouting. And it wasn't just shouting, it was fans.
My mouth dropped open. "Shit! How the fuck did they find us!?"
Jamie was too shocked to scold my cussing and I peeked outside, scanning the crowd that was chanting my name. I felt Jamie tighten her grip on my arm.
"W-what now?" she stammered, clinging on to me.
"Back exit?" I guessed. She nodded and we turned around, rushing towards the back exit. I didn't know exactly how many people were out there, but it couldn't really be many, could it? I'm sure we can make it out of here without them even noticing.
I opened the back door and winced at the sound of the yelling, which only grew louder. I led Jamie outside and we began rushing out to where the limo should be parked. I felt her tense beside me as we heard a fan yell, "Look! It's Justin and Jamie!"
The shouts grew even louder as everyone in the large crowd noticed us. I quickly turned towards Jamie and gave her a knowing look.
"Run," I instructed as calm as possible and she gave me a scared look.
"In heels? In this dress?" she asked.
"Just hang on to me. I won't leave you," I promised, dragging her forward as soon as I saw the fans start to run after us.
Yelling. And the sound of Jamie's heels clicking on the ground was all I could hear. The limo couldn't be too far, I knew that.
"Almost there," I reassured Jamie, taking a look behind us to see if the fans were close. My heartbeat picked up when I saw that they were closer than I would've imagined, and I tried to run a little faster - just for safety's sake.
Jamie's heels were clicking a rhythm that went in repeating patterns, when suddenly, the sound made an unexpected stop and the feeling of Jamie clinging on to me left within seconds. I instantly stopped, scared as hell, and turned around to see my worst nightmare.
Jamie had tripped and fell.
I looked up once again to see the fans running closer and for a moment, I panicked.
"Shit," I muttered, rushing back towards Jamie and helping her up. "Baby, are you okay?"
"K-kind of," she whimpered, standing back up with my help. My heart sank a little when I saw her perfect dress had been torn, and as I scanned the floor I saw that a rock had caused all this.
Then, it hit me.
If Jamie's pregnant, would the baby be okay whenever she falls? My eyes flickered to meet Jamie's again and once I saw the look on her face, I knew she was worried about the exact same thing.
Had we... lost our baby?
The thought of that made me want to curl up into a ball and just die. If anything like that happened, I wouldn't know what to do with myself.
The screaming of the fans snapped me back to reality and for a moment, I extremely loathed them. Not all my fans... Just the ones chasing us. I wanted to scream at them. Tell them that Jamie's pregnant, to give us a break, to back off. I wanted to yell at them for making her fall. For ruining what was the perfect first date. I wanted to shout that I had a life too, so please respect that.
I just wanted one night. One night to make it perfect.
But it's never a good sign when your date starts crying.
"Jamie, it's okay," I brush off a tear from her face and take her hand again. "It'll be okay. Just come with me."
She sniffed and nodded slowly before we resumed rushing towards the limo. My heart was beating fast and I could feel the blood pumping through my veins. I had spotted the limo in front of us and looked back at the fans once again to see they were closer. I quickly opened the door for Jamie and got in after her, shutting the door as fast as I could.
"Take us to the restaurant, please?" I told the chauffeur.
"No problem, Mr. Bieber," he nodded, starting up the vehicle. Just like that, we were up and moving, away from the screaming fans. I hated to do that to my own fans but, Jesus Christ, gimme a break! True Beliebers wouldn't do something so horrendous.
"Baby, are you okay?" I asked Jamie, who was resting her head on my chest and clutching me tightly.
"I g-guess," she murmured. There was a sudden silence and I brushed a strand of hair over her ear. "Do you think my fall damaged the baby?"
Her voice hitched and she whimpered softly, closing her eyes at the thought.
"No, babe. We couldn't have. Your belly's not big at all and the baby is protected inside the amniotic sack. He or she should be okay. Besides, the two times you fell on the ice rink, you had landed on me, so I took the fall anyway," I soothed, realizing I actually had a point. We'll be okay.
"I guess..." she murmured, squeezing me tighter. I scanned her body and saw the huge rip that the fall had caused on her dress. Crap, the dress looked quite expensive, too. I should take her dress shopping soon.
I wrapped my arms around Jamie's body and kissed her forehead reassuringly. I was about to whisper some more comforting words when my phone began ringing loudly in my pocket. I reached down for it and saw the called I.D.
Phoebe.
What's so important that she has to call now? I shrugged my shoulders and answered the call, pressing the device lightly to my ear.
"Hello?" I spoke.
"Justin?"
"Yeah, wassup?"
"I have some, umm... Bad news.." she said slowly.
My heart sank. "You d-do? What is it? What happened? Is everyone okay over there?"
"Oh yeah, of course! It's not anything like that."
"Oh. Then what?"
"The restaurant called.." she spoke with uneasiness.
"The restaurant? Why? What happened?"
"Umm... They sorta had a kitchen fire... They closed down for the night, for safety purposes."
My jaw dropped. Could this night get any worse? I had some plans to do at dinner. I was going to make sure to tell Jamie a few things, and to open up. Now what do I do? Tonight was supposed to be amazing. Now it's just crashing down in front of my eyes.
"R-really?" I gulped. I could almost see her nodding sympathetically.
"Sorry, Justin," she whispered.
I looked down at Jamie, who almost looked like she was asleep. But she had that same look on her face that people who are having nightmares have. I kissed her forehead again. "It's not your fault," I told Phoebe.
"What are you gonna do now?"
"Well, it's too late to make reservations at a different fancy restaurant... I guess we're coming home from here," I shrugged, disappointed. Jamie's eyes shot open and she stared at me.
"Okay... We'll see you then.." Phoebe replied, and we said our goodbyes. Once my call ended, Jamie showered me with questions.
"What happened? Are we not going to dinner?" she asked.
"Well... Your dress is kinda torn.." I said.
"And?"
"And they closed. The restaurant had a kitchen fire," I admitted. Her face dropped and she looked like she was about to cry.
"W-what?! Seriously?! First the fucking fans and now the restaurant? I thought this date was going to go perfect!" she complained. You know things get bad when Jamie starts cursing, going against her own rule.
"I'm sorry, babe. There isn't anything I can do about it. I wish I could but I just... can't..." I whispered. I felt so weak. Like I couldn't do anything right.
"It isn't anyone's fault, Justin. Let's just head back home and make the most of what's left of tonight," she said, running a hand through my hair. I smiled and kissed her lips lightly.
"You do realize this is gonna be all over the papers tomorrow," I whispered. She reached for my hand and intertwined our fingers.
"Fame comes with a price," she murmured, and my heart sank.
What if maybe, just maybe, I could be normal again for just one day? Then I could give Jamie the perfect first date she deserves.
And maybe tonight wouldn't have been so fucked up.
