Ch. 104 - Three Words
< Chapter 104: Three Words >
♥ Justin’s POV: ♥
My eyes shot open as a piercing, yet familiar sound entered my ears. I let out a soft groan, rolling onto my back so I was facing the ceiling on my bed. I felt Jamie shift beside me and I rubbed my eyes, recognizing the sound to be Jason’s crying from the baby monitor.
“Ugh,” Jamie sighed, throwing the covers from her body to attend our child. I wrapped my arms around her waist from behind, pulling her back to bed with me.
“Nuh-uh,” I whispered, kissing the back of her neck. “You stay right here, baby, I’ll go feed him.”
“You sure?” she asked, turning around to look at me. “I’m already awake.”
“So am I.”
She narrowed her eyes at me, shooting me a small smile before pecking my lips. “The milk’s in the refrigerator.”
“I know,” I kissed her cheek before sliding out of bed.
“Thanks. I promise I’ll be the one to feed him next time when he wakes us up,” she looked at me gratefully as I threw a shirt on.
“I don’t mind,” I hummed, turning around and exiting the room, walking down the hall and into Jason’s room, his cries louder in my ears now that I was in the same room as him.
I leaned over the crib and looked at him. He was wearing his my swag came from my mommy and daddy onesie and I smirked and reached my arms out, my hands going on either side of his small body as he continued to scream for food. I picked him up and adjusted him into my arms, kissing him repeatedly.
“Shh,” I cooed into his ear. “Daddy’s here.”
His cries softened as he now whimpered lowly for food. I began walking downstairs, continuing to whisper sweet things to calm him as I got to the fridge, opening it and snatching the baby bottle from inside.
Jamie and I decided to stay over at my house for a while, knowing that Jason was going to wake us all up in the middle of the night and we didn’t want to put Jade and Danny though that every day. Sure, they insisted on helping us out, but I told them we would have to learn to handle it ourselves and that they don’t have to lose sleep because of our baby. So, since my mom was staying with my grandparents for a few weeks, no one was really home here often and we decided to stay here for a while.
In case you’re wondering, we also set up a room here for Jason as well. We even hung up that picture of his ultrasound that I surprised Jamie with when I came back from the South American tour I was gone to for 3 weeks.
“Here we go,” I whispered to Jason, opening the cap and holding the bottle to his lips, which he gladly took hold of with his mouth. I kissed his forehead and watched him drink the milk silently. I began swaying slightly from left to right, admiring my son in my arms and not even bothering to contain the smile on my face.
I was still slightly sleepy from the slumber Jason’s cries had interrupted, but I didn’t mind watching my baby happily drink his milk. I began humming quietly to him, kissing the top of his head quickly since I just couldn’t resist myself.
“Don’t you wooorry, ‘cause everything’s going to be alright. A-ai-ai-aight. Be alright. A-ai-ai-aight,” I started to sing to him softly, continuing the song until I noticed he drank the entire thing.
Taking the bottle into my hold again, I placed it to the side as I carried him back upstairs, still singing Be Alright to him. I watched as his eyes fell closed and he sleepily shifted in my arms. I smiled and ended the song, lowering him back inside the crib and kissing his cheek.
“I hope you know that I love you, Lil J,” I nuzzled my nose against his, earning a small coo from him as he slowly fell asleep. I chuckled silently and exited the room, walking back into my own to see Jamie laying there, her eyes wide open. The minute she heard me walk in, she sat up, watching my every move.
“Is he better now?” she asked, her voice nervous, causing me to laugh softly.
“Babe, you worry too much.” I laid down next to her, taking her into my arms and cuddling her to my chest. I brushed her hair over her ear and pressed my lips to hers sweetly, flickering my tongue over her lips before kissing her passionately. She let out a soft moan into my mouth, sending tingles down my spine until I realized I was now wide awake.
Our kiss got more intense as Jamie asked for permission, in which I gladly accepted, and we began making out roughly, exchanging moans until I broke the kiss and began trailing small kisses down her neck instead as she grasped a handful of my hair.
“Justin,” she let out a whisper of a moan.
“Hmm?” I hummed, breathing heavily down her neck.
“I love you,” she caressed my hair to the side before bringing my chin up so we were at eye level. “The pregnancy’s over but I feel even closer to you. You’re really worth everything. I wouldn’t trade you in for the world.”
“Hey,” I whispered, cupping her cheek into my palm. “I love you too. I don’t even know what I’d do without you. I mean, think about it. If you were never a part of my life, I’d probably still be with Selena, who isn’t who I thought she was.”
“What do you mean?” she tilted her head in confusion, her eyes staring at me intently.
“You know exactly what I mean,” I sighed. “I thought she was a sweet girl. And honestly, she was never really a bad girlfriend. We’d rarely get into fights and we were nice with each other. But she turned out to be this bitch I didn’t know could be so heartless right after she found out about us. And I always felt like something was off when I was with her. But then every time I was with you, it just felt completely right. Soon, I came to terms with everything and finally admitted to myself I was in love with you. Then, when you confessed your feelings for me, I thought kissing you was the best way to react. And honestly? When I kissed you, I didn’t mean to end up having sex with you. I just told myself that I had to kiss you. I didn’t know what it was, but I felt like I needed to. Just to see how it felt like, even compared to Selena’s kisses. And then when it happened, and we actually ended up kissing, I got this feeling at the pit of my stomach and my heart… My heart just forgot the world and focused on you.”
Jamie had the biggest smile on her face, her eyes glistening of tears that threatened to fall.
“The kiss…” I continued, “It just felt right. Things got pretty intense and yeah, I took you up to your room. I just knew I loved you and I had to express it. Whether that meant sex or not, that was the problem,” I chuckled lightly. “I stopped in the middle of your room and asked to see where this’ll take us. I wanted to make sure you were as fine with it as I was because, honestly? I don’t really regret a thing. And I didn’t even think twice about it, forgetting that pregnancy was an actual result of sex but… Now we’ve got Jason and I can’t help but think my life just can’t get any better than this.”
Jamie was now crying, tears violently streaming down her face. I couldn’t help but smile at her as I waited for her to say something, but what I got instead was something I wasn’t really expecting. Jamie raised her hand up and smacked my arm hard.
“Oww,” I pouted, looking at her. “What was that for?”
“Why do you have to make me cry all the time with your sweet little speeches?” she sniffled, wiping tears from her cheeks. I let out a laugh, shaking my head at her words.
“I’m sorry?” I chuckled, biting my lip as she let out a few giggles.
“No, I am,” she smiled. “You’re literally the best boyfriend ever. Thank you for that.”
I cringed at the word boyfriend, knowing I wanted to be more than that. First I was her best friend, and I wanted more. Then when I finally become her boyfriend, all I want is to be even much more than that. I’m just so selfish, I know.
“And you’re the best girlfriend any guy could ever ask for,” I whispered in her ear, knowing I wanted to replace that word with wife instead. I kissed her neck again quickly before pulling away. “Now come on, let’s get some sleep.”
“No…” she whined. “I’m already wide awake, I can’t go back to sleep now.”
“Seriously?” I laughed, staring amusedly at her.
“Seriously,” she confirmed. A few thoughts began running through my head and I got an idea.
“Why don’t we go downstairs, out to the backyard, lay down and just watch the stars while we talk about random things?” I suggested. “It’ll help the sleep kick in.”
A smile widened on her lips as she nodded. “That sounds like a great date,” she winked, standing and pulling me up with her before letting go of my hand and leaving out the room.
“Someone’s excited,” I muttered teasingly and she giggled in a distance while I quickly took something from my drawer and put it in my pocket, followed by a small piece of paper before finally walking out and grinning at her.
“Let’s go, doofus,” she said. “Move that sexy ass of yours downstairs.”
♥ Jamie’s POV: ♥
Hand in hand, Justin and I walked to his backyard after checking on Jason one last time, confirming the fact that he was sound asleep. We left the sliding glass door that led to the backyard open in case Jason woke up again and we’d be able to hear his cries.
Justin laid down on the grass and pulled me down with him. I snuggled up to him, resting my head on his chest as we both looked up at the beautiful night sky, the breeze hitting us perfectly under the cool temperature. The stars were out, shining brighter than ever accompanied by the moon, which looked more and more mysterious to me every time I looked at it. Justin was silent for a while and, as a result, so was I. We both just stared at the stars, enjoying the warmth our bodies gave to each other. I took in Justin’s scent, the smell gloriously filling up my nose and I sighed in content, happy to just spend time with him, even if it was in the middle of the night.
I felt Justin’s arms around me tighten as he held me close, allowing me access to hear his heartbeat against me. I relaxed into his hold on me, the rhythm of his heart becoming music to my ears and I let it calm my body. I leaned closer so that my head now rested at the crook of his neck and he took it as his chance to place his cheek on top of my head.
“This is nice,” he murmured, reaching until he grasped my hand in his, intertwining our fingers together.
“It really is,” I whispered, my thumb brushing over his hand as I caressed it lightly, noticing how our hands fitted together perfectly, almost as if we were made for each other. I could hear his soft breathing as his chest heaved up and down, his heartbeat steady as I closed my eyes lightly. We planned on laying here and chatting about things to pass time, but the entire atmosphere of the night was just calming in every way, soothing me to the point where I could just fall back asleep again.
“Baby?” Justin stirred me slightly, causing me to look up at him.
“Yeah?” I asked softly.
“You getting sleepy again?” he chuckled, his laugh making my heart skip two beats.
I nodded slowly, a smile plastered across my face. “Mhm.”
“You want to go back to bed now?” he kissed my forehead.
“Are you coming with me?”
“Of course I am. What kind of question is that?” he smirked.
“I don’t know,” I shrugged. “Just making sure.”
“I’m never leaving you, you know.”
“I know,” I answered honestly. “Same goes for you, mister.”
He laughed before I sat back up, standing on my own two feet as he did the same. I held his hand and began leading him back inside before I felt his hand let go of mine. I stopped, turning to look back at him in confusion.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, furrowing my eyebrows together. He simply just smiled at me before digging his hand inside his pocket, slipping a piece of paper out and handing it to me. “What’s this?”
“I made a poem for you,” he said shyly, his cheeks blushing, sending butterflies to my stomach. Aww… He’s just so cute.
“A poem?” I asked. “For me?”
He nodded, motioning towards the paper. “Go on. Read it.”
There was a huge smile on his face and this time, it was my turn to blush. I looked at the paper in my hand and began unfolding it until I could see that there was indeed a short poem written inside. I began reading it inside my head:
The summer will bring
me and you together,
while birds marry under trees
singing to me.
I blinked at the words of poetry in my hand. It was one stanza with four lines but it still managed to touch my heart deeply. We did become a couple over the summer and singing? Well, that’s just his thing.
“Justin,” I said softly. “It’s… Beautiful.”
“Like you,” he whispered, stepping closer towards me and kissing my lips passionately. I melted at the feel of his lips on mine as he moaned an I love you into my mouth. Soon, we both pulled away for air and I stared back at him in awe.
“I love you too, by the way,” I breathed and he let out an accomplished smile.
“Jamie..” he grinned.
“What?” I chuckled in confusion.
“How many words does I love you have in it?” he asked.
“Is this a trick question?”
“No.”
“Then three.”
“Three words?”
I nodded, biting my lip.
“Well if I love you has three words in it, why don’t you read the poem again and count the third word in each line?” he said, eyeing the paper in my hands. I looked at him in confusion before switching my gaze back into the poem and rereading it, doing as I was told.
The summer will bring
me and you together,
while birds marry under trees
singing to me.
I let out a loud gasp, my heartbeat accelerating in my chest. My knees felt weak and I thought I was going to faint from the overwhelming feeling in my chest.
I teared my gaze from the paper and let out another gasp as I caught sight of Justin leaning on his left knee, his right one up as he held a black case in my direction. I snapped both hands to my face, covering my mouth as I continued gasping continuously, unable to believe what I was seeing.
“Veux-tu m'épouser, Jamie?” his French words rang in my ears as I watched him open the black case to reveal the most beautiful ring I’ve ever laid eyes on in my entire life. I thought the promise ring was the most beautiful ring in the world until I saw this one. It was a beautiful silver design, the diamonds tinted pink, shining elegantly under the moonlight.
I felt my heart strings pull violently inside my chest, tears over-flooding the surface of my eyes as they finally began streaming down my face. I couldn’t speak, my throat clogged in the shock I was experiencing, joy circling my eyes.
“Y-Yes,” I stuttered, my heart exploding with delight as Justin stood up, taking the ring from the case and walking over to me. He took my left hand, happy tears of his own sliding down his cheeks as he slipped the ring onto my ring finger before pulling me to him and giving me the most loving kiss we’ve ever shared. There was no sense of hatred, sadness, regret or lust in our kiss. All that filled up was happiness and love.
Wrapping my arms around his neck, I held him tighter as I deepened the kiss, and we stayed in that position for a while, kissing each other until we couldn’t breathe anymore, both of our hearts beating loudly in our chests. We then pulled away and hugged each other as he nuzzled his nose to the side of my neck while I rested my chin on his shoulder. I sniffled, wiping the tears that continued to stream down my face with the back of my hand.
“Merci,” Justin whispered in my ear and I giggled, pulling away slightly so I could look into his eyes.
“You just had to add French and make it romantic, didn’t you?” I smiled up at him.
“What can I say?” he smirked. “Le français est la langue de l'amour.”
*************************
I teared up while writing this….
Guilty.

But AWW Justin finally proposed!
What’d you guys think? :)
By the way, if some of you didn’t understand the French and were too lazy to search bc caught up in the moment, here are all the things Justin said in French (in order):
“Will you marry me, Jamie?”
“Thank you.”
“French is the language of love.”
