Ch. 17 - Night Calls

< Chapter 17: Night Calls >

♥ Jamie’s POV: ♥

When I flickered my eyes open, I was on Phoebe’s couch resting my head on a pillow. I slowly sat up and rubbed my eyes, looking at the baby stroller and noticing Jason wasn’t there. For a minute, I began to slightly panic, wondering where he was. But a few seconds later, I heard footsteps approaching the living room.

“Looks like you’re awake,” Ryan’s voice rang from behind me. I turned around to see him walking towards the kitchen. “You fell asleep and we thought you were probably pretty tired, being a mom and all, so we just let you rest up.”

“W-Where’s Jason?” I asked sleepily.

“We laid out some blankets in the guest room bed so he could sleep properly,” he explained. “You hungry?”

“Nah, thanks,” I smiled at him. “I’ll be right back.”

Standing up, I left upstairs and entered one of Phoebe’s guest rooms, finding Jason sleeping soundly there. I let out a small sigh from relief and walked over to him, softly kissing his cheek. I watched him sleep for a bit before my phone began vibrating in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw that Justin was trying to FaceTime me.

I felt my heart beating faster and faster and the sad part was that I didn’t know if I was feeling this way because I’m longing to hear his voice and see his face or because I feel guilty about what I did with Nathan.

I answered the call and Justin’s sexy face popped up on the screen, causing my heart to skip a beat.

“Hey babe,” he gave me a smile.

“Hi,” I let out a small giggle.

Justin’s smile faded to a pout as he looked me in the eyes. “You look tired,” he noted.

“Well I just woke up,” I said.

“It’s nighttime, babe.”

I laughed, “Well I fell asleep at Phoebe’s couch.”

“You’re at Phoebe’s?”

“Yeah, and Ryan’s here too.”

“That’s nice,” he said. “I really miss you guys.”

“We all miss you too,” I reassured him. “So, what’s up?”

He ran a hand through his hair. “Nothing, I just finished the first show and I thought I’d check in on my babies. How’s Lil J?”

I turned my phone so he could see Jason on the bed in front of me. “He was sleeping too,” I told him. “Still is.”

“Agh, he looks so cute,” Justin fussed. “I want to go in there and squeeze him.”

“Good thing you can’t,” I teased. “If you do, he’d wake up and cry.”

“Eh, it’d be worth it,” he shrugged, a playful smile on his face. We both laughed softly and then I heard voices in the background, and Justin’s smile faded. “Um… I have to go.”

“Already?” I pouted.

“You can probably guess why.”

“Scooter?”

“Yep,” he chuckled. There was a pause and both of us were silent. “I love you,” he said softly.

There were butterflies in my stomach, the guilt rushing to the surface. “I-I love you too,” I said.

“We’ll talk tomorrow, baby,” he promised.

“Okay,” I nodded quietly. We both kissed the camera at the same time, as if meaning to kiss each other, and then soon we hung up.

I put my phone back in my pocket and heard the doorbell go off downstairs. Curious as to who it was, I quietly exited the room and saw Phoebe coming out of her own room to go get the door. We both looked at each other, as if to simultaneously ask ourselves who the person ringing the doorbell could be, and then walked downstairs to see Ryan opening the door. He immediately performed a handshake with Chaz, who was standing at the threshold.

“There he is!” Phoebe laughed. “We were just wondering were you were earlier.”

“You were?” Chaz asked. “Well sorry I couldn’t get back to you guys. I actually just had the best day of my life.”

He dreamily skipped into the living room and threw himself on the couch.

“What do you mean?” I asked him. “Where were you?”

“Oh, just in the arcade,” he smirked at us. Phoebe, Ryan and I all exchanged looks.

That was the best day of your life?” Ryan scoffed. “You’re something else, buddy.”

“Ah, ah, but you haven’t heard the whole story yet,” Chaz teased, leaning forwards. “I guess you could say I was on a date.”

“A date?!” Phoebe, Ryan and I all said in unison.

“Yeah, a date,” Chaz nodded. “Her name’s Hanna and I think she really likes me. She even gave me her number and told me to call her tonight.”

“Huh..” Ryan puffed. “I’m impressed.”

“That easily?” Phoebe muttered to herself.

“Um, not to rain on your parade or anything, but does she know who you are?” I piped in.

“What do you mean?”

“You know… Chaz Somers, that kid who’s best friends with Justin Bieber?” I reminded him.

“Justin’s fame doesn’t define me,” he rolled his eyes. “Besides, she didn’t seem to recognize me in that way, so I think she genuinely likes me.”

“Well that’s great, guys! Now we can all go on group dates together!” Phoebe chimed in happiness. I casually kicked her leg and the room became silent as we all looked at Ryan. “Um.. I mean… I’m sorry.”

“That’s okay,” Ryan sighed. “I just hope that, whatever Allison’s doing, she’s happy doing it.”

“Same here,” Phoebe agreed, before turning back towards Chaz. “So where did you even meet this Hanna girl?”

“Uhh..” Chaz paused, gazing towards the ground. “I’d rather not say.”

“Why not?” I asked.

“Well… I met her at Gamestop..” he trailed off.

“Hey, that’s where Ryan met—!”

I kicked Phoebe in the leg again.

“Oww!” she yelped. “Erm, I mean… Sorry!”

We all looked at Ryan again and he let out a low sigh.

“I’m gonna go get a drink,” he said, quickly fleeing to the kitchen.

Chaz, Phoebe and I all looked at each other anxiously.

“That’s why I didn’t wanna say where I met her,” Chaz murmured.

“I’m a terrible person,” Phoebe slapped her forehead.

“I agree,” I teased her, sitting down next to Chaz.

It was quiet for a bit before Chaz broke the silence.

“Anyone heard from Justin yet?” he asked.

“I just spoke to him a while ago via FaceTime,” I said.

“What? When? Why didn’t you tell me?” Phoebe whined.

“I was gonna offer him if he wanted to talk to you guys but he had to go. He can’t really sit down and catch up with us for such a long amount of time,” I sighed.

“I guess you’re right,” Phoebe nodded. “But next time you hear from him, tell us.”

“Will do,” I agreed.

“Alright well, I’m gonna go call Hanna real quick like I said I would,” Chaz suddenly stood up.

“Wait, hold on a second,” Phoebe said. “While you’re at it, why don’t you invite her over tomorrow? I’m sure we all wanna meet her.”

“You guys okay with that?” he asked.

“Yeah, I don’t mind,” I shrugged. “I wanna meet the girl.”

“Alright sure, I’ll let her know,” he said.

“If you want, invite her to my house,” Phoebe added. “I’ll make my famous brownies.”

“You’re too into this,” Chaz chuckled, pulling out his phone and turning around. “I’ll be upstairs for a bit.”

“Alright,” I said, playing nervously with my thumbs as I thought more and more about what happened between Nathan and I.

What am I gonna do when Justin comes back? I can barely look him in the eyes through a screen, so how am I supposed to handle when the time comes where he’s standing in front of me?

How soon do I tell him about my mistake?

Will he even forgive me for it?

**************************

Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed this update!

And Quick Note:

I know you guys scold me for taking some time to update this book lately but I thought I made it clear before but I’ll just explain again:

I always pick one out of my books to call my main priority. I update that book every week so you guys have something to look forward to and it can only be one because more than that will stress me out since I plan things a certain way and I have other things to do too.

If you didn’t already know, “I’m Only Human” is my main priority right now, which means this book only gets occasional updates. Once IOH ends, I’ll switch between this book and “Oh God, Why?!” which will be the first time I have 2 books as my main priority.

So please be patient and, for those of you saying you forgot things that’s happened ‘cause updates take too long, just go back and look at it and try to be a bit more understanding.

Regardless of that, I still love you guys for sticking with me and I’m trying my best solely because of you :)
