Ch. 16 - Miss Emerald Eyes

< Chapter 16: Miss Emerald Eyes >

♥ Jamie’s POV: ♥

My eyes were already open when I heard Jason’s cries go off from the other room. I barely slept last night because I could feel the guilt bubbling up inside me.

I’m engaged, and I kissed someone who wasn’t my fiancé.

How am I going to tell Justin? Do I have to tell him? Ugh, of course I do.

“I’m coming, baby,” I called out to Jason, as I rolled out of bed and began walking towards his room. I bent over the crib and picked him up, kissing his cheek twice before leaving downstairs for his formula milk. After I fed him and changed his diaper, I got into casual clothing and secured Jason on the baby stroller. I grabbed my keys and began the short journey from my house to Phoebe’s. I felt like I needed someone to make me stop thinking all these thoughts. It usually ends up driving me insane.

When I rang the doorbell on Phoebe’s front door, I ended up encountering Ryan instead.

“Hey, watcha doin’ here?” he smiled at Jason, poking his belly a few times. He then stood up straight and looked at me, giving me a sympathetic look. “You miss him already?”

I bit my lip and entered the house, shutting the door shortly afterwards.

Should I tell Ryan?

“Is it that obvious?” I forced a laugh.

“Aw Jamie, you’re not the only one,” Ryan assured me. “I miss him too. I can’t take being far away from the people I care about.”

I looked down at the ground, knowing he was referring to Allison. I placed the stroller where it wasn’t in the way and then gave Ryan a reassuring look. “We all miss her,” I said, knowing he knew who I was talking about. “She was our friend and she meant a lot to us, but I can’t imagine how you must be feeling. I know you still miss Allison, but she’s on a path to a better life and you will be too,” I tried encouraging him.

“It’s just not fair,” Ryan sighed, slightly shaking his head. “People come and go and you never know who you’ll really keep forever.”

“That’s not true,” I countered. “I know I have Justin forever. And I know I have all of you guys. I’m not worried at all. I know we’ll all stick together just like we’ve been doing since children.”

The side of Ryan’s lips raised as he began to smile. “You got me there,” he chuckled. “I won’t lose you guys too.”

I smiled back at him before footsteps from upstairs began to approach us and Phoebe came into view, wearing casual clothing.

“Oh hey, Jamie!” she greeted me with a huge smile. “I just took my morning shower and was thinking of calling you after breakfast.”

“Really? Why?” I curiously asked.

She shrugged. “To see how you were holding up. I know you miss Justin, you know.”

I sighed, “Do people really have to remind me every 5 seconds about him? I’m trying not to think of him so I won’t miss him so much but it’s not working out well for me at all.”

“Whoops,” Phoebe smiled sheepishly. I rolled my eyes and plopped myself down on the couch.

“I wonder how he’s doing…” I thought out loud.

“Why don’t you call him and find out?” Ryan suggested.

“I don’t know,” I said softly, “He’s probably tired from the long flight. I usually wait until he calls me just in case he’s busy or sleeping or something.”

“It’s a European tour right?” Phoebe asked.

“For the first month, yes,” I nodded, “The second month he’ll be in the U.S.”

“That sounds tiring,” Phoebe yawned. “I wonder how he does it.”

“Beats me,” Ryan shrugged. “I gotta hand it to your man, Jamie.”

I felt myself blushing, a smile creeping upon my face without me noticing. “He sure is a hard worker, that’s for sure.”

We all nodded and then I heard Ryan sigh.

“Does anyone know where Chaz is?” he asked us.

“No, why?” Phoebe replied.

“I called him earlier today and he didn’t pick up. I’m curious as to what it is he’s doing,” he explained.

“It’s Chaz we’re talking about,” I reminded him. “He’ll come through eventually.”

♥ Chaz’s POV: ♥

I hurriedly made my way across the mall, wanting to get Justin’s welcome-home gift over with. Of course, he just left and all, but I know myself and, if anything, I’ll space out and not know what to get him and then I’ll just forget.

“What should I get him?” I mumbled under my breath.

I looked around at the stores in front of me, finding it inconvenient that most of it was for girls. I stood there for a few minutes, my mind racing with different thoughts. I then realized that there was a Gamestop video-game store in front of me and I bit my lip.

I’m such a sucker for this.

Oh well, maybe I should get him a video game we can play with Ryan after he gets back.

My legs began moving on their own and I entered Gamestop as if it were my home. I began looking around the different variety of video games, moving across the entire store to get a glimpse of every inch of it. I then stopped to look at the games in front of me before a video game case dropped near my feet. Confused, I looked down to see a random Batman game next to me. I picked it up and looked around me, seeing this little boy come up to me.

“Sorry, sir,” he said, eyeing the Batman game.

“That’s okay,” I reassured him, handing back the game to him. “Here.”

“I apologize for my cousin here,” a new voice said to me. I looked behind the boy to see a really hot girl. My eyes widened and I tried to hide the fact that I found her fucking attractive.

Isn’t this exactly how Ryan met Allison?

Looks like Gamestop has some magic going on here.

“I already told the kid it’s alright, Miss Emerald Eyes,” I smiled at her, naming her after the pretty color of her eyes. I caught her blushing slightly at the nickname as she grabbed the little boy’s hand.

“Thanks, Mr. Cute Guy,” she teased.

“I actually prefer the term sexy,” I teased back, happy that she seemed into me too.

“Is that so?” she laughed. “Then I apologize, Mr. Sexy Guy.”

I let out a small chuckle and the little boy tugged slightly on Miss Emerald Eyes’s leg, as if reminding her of something.

“Oh that’s right!” she blurted out. “We, uh.. Have to go.”

I pouted. “So soon?”

“Yeah, umm… I’m babysitting my cousin and I promised to take him to the arcade,” she explained. “He really wanted to go.”

“Oh… That sounds fun,” I nodded.

There was a slight pause and she shyly looked up at me. “Do you… Want to tag along?”

My heart skipped a beat.

“You mean to help you babysit?” I teased her.

She giggled, “No, I just think you’d make it more fun. Right, Dean?”

The little boy nodded. “Yeah!”

I smiled back at them. “Well alright, but I have one condition.”

“What?” she asked.

“Tell me your name,” I said.

“I’m Hanna,” she held out her hand. “Hanna Leith.”

I grabbed her hand and shook it. “I’m Chaz Somers.”

I waited a few seconds to see if she’d recognize me to be Justin’s best friend, but she didn’t.

“Well then, Chaz, if you wait for us to pay for this game, we’ll be ready to go in a flash,” she said, running a hand through her luscious, black hair.

“Take your time,” I grinned, stuffing my hands into my pocket.

I guess Justin’s welcome-home gift will have to wait a while…

**************

So I know it was pretty short but don’t worry, I’ll be updating again this week!

And what do you guys think of Hanna so far? Did Chaz finally find his girlfriend? ;)

Love you guys <3
