37: Human Realm

"Watch over her, Cerberus. She's going to have a baby. I have a meeting with Jenny about the..." He looked at you and thought about what he was going to say next. "About the demons. Please keep her company at the very least."

"Lucifer I'm absolutely starved, but I just don't know what for. Can you bring me something besides these damned pomegranates? It's been such a long time, is there anything back on the surface?" You frowned as you whined.

"Hmm... Maybe..." Lucifer looked around suspiciously. "I'll... I'll go look for you. But you stay down here and gestate properly, promise?"

"Yes, as long as you bring me something delicious." Walking away from him and towards your pet demon, you only acquiesced because you had no other choice. Plus, you weren't sure about the effects of supernatural traveling while pregnant, and you would certainly never risk this pregnancy for anything.

"Of course, my love, anything for you." And with a gust of air, he left.

Unbeknownst to you, however, he was going to meet with Jenny because the humans were already back and his underlings were getting restless. Either he would have to allow them up soon, or he would have to do something about the humans once again. But an expedition wouldn't hurt, right?

As he arrived within his chamber, he discussed the plan with the other core group of demons, who also agreed very quickly that an expedition would not only be extremely beneficial but an enjoyable break from the monotony of life in the Underworld.

Lucifer sighed. He would have loved to bring you up to give you the joy of the fresh air and the sunshine, but he too worried about the effects on your growing fetus. So within a flash, he transported himself and a handful of other demons up towards the top.

It seemed different now. No longer was it a pagan world like that which you had come from. It was much more orderly, yet more violent. He remembered you calling it the time of the "Greeks" or something like that. He would have to find out what this time period was.

As he and his group wandered around, Lucifer was amazed at the culture, art and even food that was presented before him. Taking a deep breath in, he smiled. He loved the human realm.

"I shall stay for as long as I can here. Gather information for my dearest, gather foods for her perhaps to cultivate in other gardens. And I shall return with a feast for her and stories galore." Lucifer declared to Jenny. "Be sure to remind me how much time has passed within the Underworld. I don't wish to be gone more than what would be equivalent to two days. Evil forbid that I miss a single milestone in my wife's pregnancy."

"Yes, master." Jenny nodded. "Shall we take up residency somewhere within the city?"

"Hmm. Where ever you see fit, Jenny. Find somewhere where humans won't be missed. The other demons are already drooling."
