33: A Demon Baby Is Not A Baby

"Zennon! Get back here!" You chased after the toddler demon; who looked more demon than human now.

"Hahaha!" He laughed as you desperately tried to catch the little thing. Holding your dress up as you ran barefoot through the twisting and turning tunnels, a sweat had broken across your forehead. A human baby would have been a much easier feat than this. What three year old human could run this quickly?!

"I'll call your father in here! I will! Get back here so we can take a bath!"

"Consider me called." He appeared in front of his son and lifted him into the air, eliciting a screech of excitement. "I would love a bath. Won't you join me, Zennon?"

"Yes!" He cheered as he was tickled by his father.

You placed your hands on your knees and panted.

"You shouldn't be running around so much, love. What if you're jostling a special passenger?" Lucifer walked over and rubbed your back.

Immediately, you swatted him away, annoyed.

"We both know that's not true." A scowl lit up your face and you snatched the toddler from his arms, smothering the poor thing. "This is the only baby I'll ever get to have."

"Don't say that, dearest." He took your hand and began the stroll towards what he called the River Styx.  "It's not true."

"I think we're not compatible. Have you even had a child before?" You stroked Zennon's head.

A frown creased on his face and a dark look flashed past his eyes. He stopped you by pushing you against the wall and surrounding you and the baby with his wings.

"Do not say such things. I have never loved someone like I have loved you. Be patient."

"Lucifer, patient is waiting a year, perhaps two. Not this many. If I were not half-demon I would be old by now." You grumbled. "I'm not a child. You need not coddle me."

As you entered the sanctuary that was your orchard, Zennon began squirming in your arms.

"No! No!" He fussed.

"You know what? Fine. Go. Go somewhere else." You dropped him onto the ground with an oof and shook your head. "Twenty years seems more like five years. He clearly doesn't love me like I'm his mother."

Lucifer walked behind you and began massaging your shoulders and kissing your head.

"It's a demon baby, YN. They don't like to be held. They don't like to be told what to do. And they certainly do not feel love. Do not deceive yourself; it is merely a way to pass the time before we have our own offspring." He cooed comfortingly. "In fact, with the cretin gone, perhaps you will indulge me in our now rare consummation."

"Rare like what? Once every twenty-four hours?" You lightened your mood and stripped off your robe. As you stepped into the water, which wasn't incredibly deep, but had grown deeper having weathered away the rocks beneath it, you smiled at Lucifer.

"I do hate to get my wings wet. But if you'll promise to make love with me, then I shall bear it." He dipped his toes in the water as you laughed.

"Oh, then bear it indeed. If you've promised me a child, then you better be working towards that goal!"
