15: The First Attempt

"Who's a good puppy? Hmm?" You continued the rub the three-headed dog's belly as you snuggled into its dark fur. "It's you."

You had been alone for a while now and thought perhaps you should begin to practice transforming. In this cacophonous cavern you didn't see any demons, never mind Hades. There didn't even really seem to be any exits either, but that could have been from the darkness.

"Lucifer?" You called out.

"Present." He materialized behind you, scaring the soul out of you.

"How do you do that?" You asked, pulling your soul back into your mouth and sitting up.

"Like my loyal creature beside you, I come when called." He pushed his hair out of his face.

"Were you busy?" His face didn't look impatient but hadn't been exactly warm.

"Whether I was or not, I am no longer. I came when you called and you are the center of my attention now." He spoke poetically. "I even wore my silly robes for your delicate sensibilities."

"Ah, well I do appreciate it. I believe I am ready to begin training in transformation." You stood in front of him. "Whatever that means."

"Come stand close to me, facing away." Hades commanded.

"Hmm. Okay..." You patted Cerberus' head and walked over to the ruler of the Underworld.

As you got closer, his muscular arms wrapped around your body and spun you around. His entire front was then pushed against your back. It was a warm feeling; like a ray of sunshine on a blustery day. Reflexively relaxing into his grip, you felt his arms wrap tighter around you and his head leaning against your own.

Closing your eyes, you relished the moment. It felt like a spring day was engulfing you and your face was being kissed by a light sensation. You hardly even noticed that all the plants that had sprouted on your body were gone.

"Do you feel anything?" Lucifer inquired.

"Yes."

"Hold onto that feeling. Push it deep inside of you and remember it." He whispered in your ear.

"Mmm, alright." You sighed in contentment, trying to think about holding that feeling in. Slowly, Lucifer removed his arms and stepped back.

Noticing the lack of sensory input, you opened your eyes.

"Hey, look!!" You smiled up at him, but as soon as you spoke, the grass resprouted. "Awww."

He almost chuckled at your disappointment. Humans, or at least now human-demon hybrids, were so peculiar. They wore their emotions so clearly.

"You must focus on that feeling to keep it in." He took a deep breath and centered his hands. "Keep it here. Hold it preciously."

You looked at the god oddly.

"Why are you still in your human form? Can't you be in your normal form and still wear clothes?"

"I could try. I believe not though. Clothing is not part of my natural form, nor is it yours really. You just didn't grow enough to destroy what you had on your human body."

"Yeah, try it! I do like your wings."

His eyebrows raised.

"You... like my wings?"

"Yes. They look so soft. Should you put them out again, perhaps I could touch them?" You asked hopefully. You had honestly wanted to touch the glorious white feathers since you first saw them, and now you had no reason not to.

Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and tried to release his form but not his robes.
