Chapter 10

I steered the helm calmly with a glare visible on my face. I watched how the agents of Talon and Overwatch mingled, given the high tension.

Doomfist though, stood beside me, as did Ana, and of course Jack.

"So, why is Talon after my mom? What makes her stand out?" I asked, keeping my focus on the group before me. One slip up, and it's back home they'll go, I don't have time for childish games, and I'm the child here.

"You're aware of that island, Enigma."

I nodded, "It's a mythical island, right? Just a sailor's tale?"

Doomfist returned the nod, "It was, but that was before Mrs. (L/N) was able to track it down years ago."

I frowned and looked up, "Adam says that's where mom was heading. He said it would take a few days to get there, but if it's so difficult and mythical, why only a few days? Shouldn't difficult and mythical things take weeks, months, or even years to be discovered?"

Now that I mentioned it, if that's where mom was heading, maybe even lost, why is it so hard find her?

"It was hard getting resources, your mother was a smart woman, did everything on paper, knowing of Sombra's work." Doomfist pointed out, earning a glare from Jack and Ana. Doomfist paid no attention to them though, and continued, "We were able to get some information with some luck, there were stories that may be true, starting with the missing omnic."

"What is it about this missing omnic, it was huge in my dream, bigger than my mom's ship The Voyager." I explained, shivering at the part where it lifted its giant fist.

"Actually, it was. A weapon produced by this "secret" organization known as the Super Heavy Indestructible Noble Yare..."

I stifled a laugh, "Shiny?"

Doomfist shook his head, furrowing his eyebrows, "Please don't ask, they're incompetent people, they are as silly as the name."

Ana perked up, "Oh, I know of this group, poor businessmen, but somehow able to collect valuable sources, jewels and gold. Rumor has it they've taken them from ships that are in the middle of trade."

"So like pirates? That's pretty cool." I muttered the last part.

"I hope we don't bump into them, they're risky people, and that's the last thing we need at the moment." Jack said. Ana nodded along with Soldier, as did I, I don't need anymore people on my ship.

"So um, how did this omnic go missing?" I asked taking my hands of off the helm, "Adam could you steer the ship for me?"

"Of course." Adam said, although my hands weren't on the helm, it still turned and kept it at a good pace, as if someone were steering it.

I placed my hands in my pockets and looked up at Doomfist, he was really tall, so I had to hold my head back a little.

"Apparently they, too, knew of this mythical island, long before (Y/M/N) did. Stories say it's made up of riches and valuable resources, and wanted to expand their business there. So of course with the money they had, a giant omnic was built to go and place some kind of ownership there, big enough to just waltz on the ocean floor, or swim under for a long periods of time." Doomfist explained.

I frowned, "Why couldn't they just sail to the island themselves?"

Doomfist raised an eyebrow at me, as if the answer was obvious, "If you know of Enigma Island, than you should know of the threats, too." I blushed, I didn't know that much about it.

"Care to explain the threats then?" Jack asked with a hint of annoyance and somewhat impatience. Doomfist seemed amused by this behavior and maybe he was hostile, but answered anyway nonetheless.

"Enigma Island is like the Bermuda Triangle, once entered, one may never come out. They say there's a sort of power that the island uses to protect itself against outside threats. Guardians, if you may say. So after a while, the omnic's location just suddenly disappeared."

I tried to figure how Mom was involved with all this, but also remembered what Ana told me about her job, "Do you think Mom's mission was to find it? If this omnic was built for the sea and everything and to find this mysterious island, Mom would be out here looking for it, because it would be like, an opportunity for something adventurous?" I asked looking at Jack and Ana.

"You know, you could be right, her missions were usually private depending on how dangerous it is, no matter how hard it was for us to convince her to tell us otherwise." Jack said.

Ana rolled her eyes with a chuckle, "You mean how hard it was for you to convince (Y/M/N) to tell you. Besides, she would mostly call and tell us how things are, most of the time it was successful."

I pressed my lips together, thinking really hard about the vision I saw. It had to be connected somehow, the ship on the island, the missing omnic, this power the island contains.

I suddenly thought of something as the gears started to slowly turn before going faster in my head.

"What if, when Mom went to Enigma Island, the missing omnic suddenly came out of the ocean and started some kind of fight? The island must have known and felt threatened by the situation that was going on, and used its power to send off some kind of waves that was a warning. It must have done something to really set the omnic off, practically destroying The Voyager. Maybe the ship and Mom ended up on the island and has been lost since."

The three agents stared at me, minds probably trying to comprehend the words that came out of my mouth.

"I mean...it could be the closest solution." Ana said, but Jack shook his head, "But why would she risk a mission like that for Shiny? She's smart, and couldn't really risk it if it meant she'd be distant from you."

Before I opened my mouth, Doomfist too spoke, "For once, I may agree with the soldier here, besides why would the omnic just suddenly emerge after years of being missing?"

"And the island is at it has always been, mythical." Ana said, and I frowned at her, I didn't expect her to be on their side.

"How could you be so sure your mother is even alive?"

"Because I just know she is, okay?! I don't see you guys coming up with anything!" I snapped at them. I sucked in a deep breath and lowered my eyes, "Sorry, I'm just a little warned out..."

I sighed and started stepping away, "I'll be in my cabin. Adam, alert me if any trouble happens will ya?"

"As you wish." Adam said.

Before anyone could say anything to me, I stepped off the main deck and found a door to my cabin, I haven't seen in yet, but thankfully from the outside, there were blinds to give me privacy.

I placed my hand on a scanner, which unlocked the door. The door hummed and opened before me, just as I stepped in, the door closed behind me, I made sure it was locked.

My cabin was, well mostly the walls were plain, everything else was a setting of the sea. Seashell decorations, paintings of ocean sceneries and beaches. Although the ship ran on electricity, fire lamps were placed in corners and one on my desk, which was covered with folders, probably filled with information Mom left for me. It seemed to be both a cabin, and an office. In one corner, with a window that gave the view of the ocean, was a bed, the blankets and pillows were plain as well.

I bit my bottom lip, Mom must have wanted to help me decorate my cabin, she couldn't get that opportunity.

I found my way to the desk, plopping right on the chair and looking at the folders. I seemed to be the same thing from the tips Mom would give me, in case electricity went out.

But what was new was a small box, the note saying to (Y/N). It was covered with silver and blue wrapping, with gold ribbons. I unwrapped if And took the lid of, my body trembling.

A necklace, one that resembled the sea, the note also contained something else.

"Love you, my little Bubbles, this charm should give you all the luck and love, as it had given me. This charm contains the trust I gained from the ocean. Let the ocean guide you, for it has chosen you."

I grasped the necklace close to my chest, tears threading to fall as I laid my head on the desk.

"Don't worry, Mom, I'm coming. Just...where have you gone?"
