Chapter 3~Sneaking Out
I silently opened my window. When there was a creak, I froze and listened to any noises. I heard a creak outside my room and dived for my bed. I listened and it sounded like someone was walking. Fortunately, I turned off my lights, because they walked right past, yelling, "Lights off! It's curfew!"
The voice sounded familiar, but I don't have the time to worry about it at the moment.
When the footsteps faded, I got up and walked to the open window. I popped off the screen.
Using my tails to fly, I barely fit through the window. Outside, I saw that I was on the third floor of the building. I lowered myself, avoiding any windows, even if they had no lights on.
Once I was on the ground, I raced towards the hill that Katherine found me on.
The sun had set a few hours ago, and it was nearly pitch black. The only reason I saw the school was because a few lights were on. Even then, they were starting to turn off.
Pressing a button on my watch, a flashlight I installed earlier turned on.
I wandered around, trying to find anything.
Scanning the ground, I saw the rocket Eggman had put me in. It was a little far from where Katherine found me, explaining why she hadn't noticed it before.
I was about to walk up to it, when I noticed the green Chaos Emerald. "What?" I gasped. "They really did follow me here?"
I picked it up, not trusting anyone else to find it.
I sighed, turned off my flashlight and ran back towards the school, deciding to grab some tools. Looking up, I saw only one open window. Spinning my tails, I flew towards it.
Fortunately, it was my room. I collapsed onto my bed. Right away, I straightened up and grabbed some tools. I quietly walked back to the window and flew all the way to the ship.
I turned my flashlight on and got to work, dismantling the ship, and taking pictures so I could remember where each piece belonged.
It took a while, but I managed to take apart the entire thing. Holding as much as I can, I flew back to my room, carefully placing the pieces back on my bed. After two more rounds of back and forth, I had every piece of the ship laid out on my bed.
I sat down on the floor and looked at the time. Apparently, it was already 1:30am.
I grabbed the Chaos Emerald off of my bed, and with some tinkering, managed to increase the frequency of the watch so me and Sonic could communicate perfectly. The only problem is, we won't be able to see each other.
I pressed a button and waited for Sonic to answer. "Tails!" He shouted.
I flinched at the volume of his voice. "Quiet down, Sonic. I don't want anyone to know I'm awake."
"Sorry." I could picture him scratching his quills nervously. "But where are you?"
"I'm not a hundred percent sure. I seem to be on another planet, and it's like a counterpart to Mobius. Everyone here is the exact same as home, except that their completely human. I already met another Blaze, Eggman, Sticks, Amy..." I hesitated, unsure if I should say anything, "And Cosmo..." I whispered.
Either he didn't hear, or he was ignoring the Cosmo comment. "There's another Eggman there?"
I nodded. Then, realizing he can't see me, spoke, "Yeah. But he seems to be different. I don't think he's an evil scientist, but I'm still going to be careful around him."
"Good. It doesn't matter where you are, you should never trust Eggman."
There was a pause. Then I decided to ask: "Did you know the Chaos Emeralds are here too?"
"Yeah. Egghead apparently doesn't know how to properly install them into a machine." I could hear the anger in Sonic's voice. "Did you find any?"
"Just the green one," I sighed. "I'm at a private school and no one seems willing to let me leave yet."
I could hear Sonic gritting his teeth. He was beyond angry at Eggman. "Don't worry, Sonic," I tried to calm him down. "I'll find my way back."
Sonic sighed. "I know you will. I just wish I could be there to help you."
I laughed. "I'll be fine. Well, I should probably head to bed. I have no idea what's in store for me tomorrow. Just in case, don't call me tomorrow. Once I know what's going on, I'll let you know."
I could picture the smirk on Sonic's face. "I won't call. I can't get you in trouble over there if I'm not around to bail you out. Goodnight Tails."
"Goodnight Sonic."
I pressed a button, ending the conversation.
I looked at the bed, seeing that that would be a much more comfortable spot than the floor.
I carefully grabbed each piece of Eggman's ship and hid it under the bed. Hopefully, no one will randomly come in here and start some cleaning.
Once I was done, I climbed into the bed, placed the Chaos Emerald next to my pillow, and pulled the covers up. Then I realized I forgot to take off my watch. Being lazy, I put it with the Chaos Emerald, already comfortable in bed.
I sighed and stared at the ceiling, my head resting on my hands.
"How did Eggman learn about this place?" I asked aloud, so many questions flying through my head. "Why are there counterparts of my friends back home? How will I get home? Why did the Chaos Emeralds come here too?"
I sighed, wondering why I was asking these questions out loud. It's not like I was going to get an answer.
I closed my eyes and fell into a dreamless sleep, my never ending questions flying around like a tornado inside my head.
