Vivi

I open the door to my new home, and get instantly bear-hugged by Natalie, who smells like a giant cookie.

"Welcome home!" She squeals, and I can't help but join her in a little excited jumpy dance, which is probably annoying our downstairs neighbors.

I pull back, and look at the apartment.
"Wow, Natalie, did you decorate this entire place by yourself?"

"Sure did." She says, "I'm almost done making dinner, go check out your room."

"Which one is it?"

"Oh, you'll know."

I go into the little hallway with two doors facing each other. One door is plain white, and the other,

Oh, that's what she meant when she said "You'll know."

The other door is practically painted in pink, purple, and blue sparkles, with a cute sign on it that says, Vivi's Room.

I open the door, and stare in awe.

It's bigger than I thought, with a bed, a desk, and bookshelves lining the walls.

There's a window that looks out over the ocean, and the bed isn't too big or too small, but just right. It has pink pillows and sheets, and a light blue comforter with a fish scale pattern.

I flop on the mattress, and it feels like I fell backwards into a fluffy cloud.

Taking a closer look at the shelves, I notice they're full of books by my favorite authors.

And... are those... "Notebooks!" I pick one up. It simply says Days in silver on the cover, with pastel blue waves behind it. I decide to use it as my new journal.

I dig in my purse for a pen, and see a coffee mug full of colorful pens sitting on the end table next to my head. Yes!

Selecting a sparkly pink pen, I open the notebook to the first page and write,

'August 15th, 2024. Today is the first day of my new life.'

"So..." Natalie suddenly appears behind me, "What do you think?"

I turn around and hug her. "It's perfect."
