Thirty Six
During the times when Amanda was in deep coma, series of events have happened around her.
Frustrated for Amanda to wake up, Mr. Park slammed the desk in his office. He massaged the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes.
He had been waiting for an update from his Private Investigator about the connection between Jessica, Amanda's friend, and Romeo Buenconsejo, Amanda's neighbor, but the PI seemed to be a lacking the energy to do what he wanted.
He grabbed his cellphone sitting on top of his table and pressed the number of the PI.
"Hell-" Lucas Villaruel asked in a tired and sleepy voice.
"The fuck is your problem? I'm paying you to do your job!" Mr. Park hollered over the phone. "Update! I need an update!"
"Uh, Sir Park!" Lucas stammered realizing that it's his boss. "I was about to call you-"
"Cut it out with your fucking intros! Get to the damn point!" Mr. Park put him on a speaker and closed his eyes.
"I recently found out that Jesstoni Del Mundo or what Amanda's friends call him as Jessica is adopted and Romeo Buenconsejo is his cousin. Jesstoni was adopted by Anthony and Lydia Del Mundo, the father being a business magnate while the mother as a renowned fashion designer. Information has it that Jessica used to live at the Happy Smiles Orphanage when he was six years old until twelve. " Lucas recited and Mr. Park heard papers flipping as he read.
"What about that Buenconsejo?" Mr. Park pressed and played with his ballpen. "How come he's Amanda's neighbor?"
"Romeo Buenconsejo is Jesstoni's cousin. When Jesstoni's parents died due to car accident, he lived with his cousin for ten years. Some says the two had a huge fight and Jesstoni moved out of his cousin's house and live in his foster parents' home instead. " Lucas answered.
"I'm still on it, Sir."
"Fine. I expect update within the week or I'll beat your ass." Mr. Park said and dropped the call.

"Sunod-sunod na ang mga nangyayaring masama kay bakla." Leni said to Olivia when they were at the elevator of the hospital where Amanda's father were confined as well.
Olivia sighed and clung to her bag while waiting for their floor.
"Ang masama pa nito, kasabay ng aksidente ng ama niya, inatake din ito sa puso. Mas naaawa ako kay tita. Kinakaya nya mag-isa to."
"May idea ka ba bakit hindi nagpaparamdam si Jessica sa texts at tawag natin?" Leni asked and they entered Amanda's room.
"Hello po, tita." Olivia greeted Aling Delia who was sleepily arranging the blanket of Amanda and did the same to her husband on the opposite side of the room.
"Good evening po, tita." Leni said and gave a comforting smile. "Magpahinga at umuwi po muna kayo. Kami na po muna magbabantay kila Amanda at tito."
Olivia placed her bag on the table and sat on the chair beside Amanda. She felt a tear dropped on her cheek and wiped it away.
"Bakla ka. Kasasabi ko lang noong isang linggo na wag mong gawing tambayan ang ospital, pero nagpasaway ka na naman." Olivia said and chuckled. She touched Amanda's cheek and stared at her friend.
"Hay, bakla." Leni sighed and sat on the foot of Amanda's bed. She checked Amanda's dextrose and adjusted the hem of Amanda's dress. "Na-mimiss ka na namin. Mag-iisang linggo ka na dito. Gising ka na dyan."
They heard Aling Delia's soft cries at the couch and pretty soon, they all couldn't take to be quiet. The room was filled with tears of longing and care for their friend, daughter and husband.
"Ano ba naman kayong mga bata kayo. Okay na ako kanina. Pinaiyak nyo na naman ako." Aling Delia sniffed and earned a laugh from Olivia and Leni. "Uuwi muna ako ha. Kailangan ko ding icheck ang bahay kahit nandito ako sa ospital. Kayo muna bahala sa mag-ama ko. Bukas ng umaga babalik ako dito. Pag may problema, tawagan nyo ako sa telepono ko ha." Aling Delia instructed and kissed her husband on his cheek and did the same to Amanda.
"Opo, Tita Delia." Sabay na sabi nila Olivia and Leni.
Aling Delia stood up and held Amanda's gym bag. She bid goodbye to Amanda's friends before stepping out the room.
Olivia and Leni took turns sleeping at the couch in case, nurses and doctors need to check on Amanda and her dad.
Morning came and Aling Delia let Amanda's friends go home. She was about to enter the hospital room after asking for the outstanding balance at the billing station down at the basement floor when she heard voices talking.
Worried and scared, she silently opened the door to see who were inside.
"I'm so sorry, Amy." Aling Delia heard Jessica's voice but instead of hearing a cheerful tone, she heard worry and fear in a masculine voice.
With confused and startled eyes, she saw a very manly Jessica with a guy, Aling Delia presumed as their neighbor, beside Jessica.
"Ako to, si Toniboy." Jessica said, her voice breaking. "Hindi mo ba ako naaalala? Ako yung matagal ng nagpapapansin at nang-aasar sayo sa orphanage noon. Antagal kitang hinanap."
Aling Delia saw Jessica, Toniboy rather, caressing Amanda's arms while speaking softly to her.
"Pagpasensyahan mo na tong pinsan ko, Amanda. Baliw 'ata to at ayaw pang umamin sa'yo na ikaw yung kababata nya." Romeo chuckled and tapped Toniboy's shoulder. "Tara na boy! May aasikasuhin pa tayo."
Aling Delia saw Toniboy nod in agreement and she quietly hurried to hide at the ladies restroom one room away from her daughter and husband.
Aling Delia could only cry for her daughter. She admits it was an accident when her daughter got hit by a car. But she can't accept the fact that whatever happened inside their neighbor's house caused her daughter to get hurt so badly. And which also because of that, her husband had another heart attack.
