Two

There are instances in which I wish I didn't have the unfortunate experience of having my sharp hearing. This is one of those situations. I look forward, at the inexplicable scene before me.

Lucifer under Amy, his hands refusing to move out of his sight, and her shirt unbuttoned exposing her bra. 'Those are the noises I heard. Should have known. Thought I heard Lucifer.'

I stuck my hip to the side, hand resting on my jeans. " Well. Well. What do we have here? Do I wanna know what's going on?"

I comment, in response Amy looked me up and down. There being a hint of attraction in how she does stare at me. " Well. I'm not usually the one to swing that way. But, I won't complain since you're hot." Amy stood, and I don't contemplate the fact she tries to take off my blouse leaning to kiss me.

'Oh. She thinks..'

flattered, much I was flustered, I stop Amy in her action. Buttoning up her shirt.

" i'm here to talk about Jillian, Amy. I'm officer Ellie decker from the LAPD. I came here to ask you some things. It concerns her murder."

I tell Amy, revealing my badge, I see emotion of shock pass by her eyes. Lucifer rushes over, clothes in sorts of crinkled disarrange. Amy's face is flustered, placing herself on her trailers couch. " I promise for once that was not what ever you thought it was. Darling. You have to believe me."

Lucifer pointed, on an indicative note, a finger to Amy blathering his way out of his explanation. " What I saw doesn't matter. I am here on business, Lucifer." I shrugged. Not bothered by the sight. ' Why is it, though, I say I'm not affected by Amy on top of Lucifer but I have this possessive attachment growing. Ugh.'

" I'm here 'cause you, Amy, and Jillian had an altercation hours before-hand leading up to her death. Why was that?" I tried forcing away those emotions I have. I wasn't going to allow myself to put personal feelings to show.

" My partner and I. We found a heap of cash at Jillian's house. We just want to know if Jillian was blackmailing you? If she was why didn't you report her?" I sensed Lucifers eyes boring in my skull, searing into the back of my head. I can't concentrate when he is staring at me, like he is.

" She wasn't blackmailing me. She as my sober-buddy."

Amy corrected, glancing back to me with an incredibly obvious grin on her face, penitent.

" I'm sorry, detective decker. If I had known he was taken I wouldn't have made the mistake of making a move on him. It so against girl code to get with another girls man'. I am so sorry."

She stated, her fingers were crossed for her statement meaning she was in-fact serious.

" Well, clearly not very good at it, I see." My eyes shifted to watch Lucifer check-out a page of a popularly published teen magazine.

" The production company thought it was a good idea to hire my stand-in to also keep an eye on me." From a professional and outsider point of view this smells of foul-play. The return of the instinctual whisper speaking to me, saying she is innocent. I believe it. " they thought it would help keep it a secret."

From a corner of my eye Lucifer manhandled a stuffed bear and shoved it my face pretending it was talking. " Lucifer is sorry, Betty. He would never think of hurting you like that. Don't be mad at him, please." Imitating, which sounds awfully close to a knock-off tone of the muppet known as Elmo a children's character, Lucifer controlled the bears neck puppeteering its movements. Amy, grin growing, giggled. ' I can't believe he is doing this right now. Of all... times. Why does he have to be cute.. Woah. I..'

I don't know where the thought came from but I need to stay focused. ' How can it be possible to feel all of these things together and still I am conflicted on how to come to terms with them.'

Spending an hour longer, in hopes of coming to find a lead which will benefit Lucifer and I in our search for Jillian's killer, Amy gave up a few milligrams of cocaine in her trailer. Ironic thing was a devil sticker on the bag of pills and other drugs.

" I rang the production company. They confirmed Jillian was paid, to be Amy's sober companion. So what Amy is telling us is the truth. Explains the big wad of cash. She's not our killer, that I know much."

I reinstated, arms tucked in the pockets of my coat. Today's weather is quite cooler than out of the ordinary usual mid-summer temperature. Lucifer had a hand leaned against his corvette's windshield.

" what about our emoji-loving drug dealer?"

He inquired, still bothered his image was being ruined by this 'outrageous act of defamation' in his words not mine.

" This could simply be him making sure no one screws around and steals his clients. Aunt Chloe put out a Warrant, so we can get his cellphone and..okay. You have to stop thinking about what happened in there, Lucifer. That didn't bother me."

Lucifer, not once has he looked at me properly despite me being stood before him, got in his car and I blinked; confused.

" Where are you going?"

" I'll be back Ellie, darling! Meet me back at my place. You will love this surprise. Can't talk, no more, time is of the essence."

He shouted as he drove off. Car wheels screeching on the sound stage back-lots road.

I hurled my hands up in the air, astounded he had went ahead and left me to be standing alone. In Warner brothers.

" Great." I groaned out loud. " He better have a good excuse for running off on me, again."

I spit on a strawberry and vanilla milkshake, entering the main foyer of Lucifers penthouse, and I made myself comfortable enough, sitting on a bar-stool of his self installed bar.

" Lucifer. I'm here. What is the surprise you said you have? I swear to your father if you are naked, again." I called out. " I'm gonna leave."

I wasn't actually planning on leaving, there is though a thought of taking a picture and using it as blackmail for my own benefit. I doubted he'd be offended, he would set it as my background photo. ' Strange of him to have not said anything. Where is he..'

Dragging of pattering padded feet, had made an appearance. The unique sound of a collar-bell jingling, and a tiny amicable bark bounces off the walls, which's denoted to one animal. A dog.

" Well. This little Adorable fur-ball ruined the suspense of the surprise. Surprise, darling! He is all yours. Let's say this is a way for me to say sorry. You know, for you seeing that today. At the trailer."

Lucifer strides his way over and puts the golden retriever puppy in my lap. My shock wore off, replacing it is astonishment.

" I haven't actually given him a name, thought I'd let you have that honour."

Lucifer mentions and I stroked the puppies intense, yellow gold, fur.

" I had advocated on your behalf and the fact you had wished to look for a specifically trained dog for your anxiety disorder. So, you now are the owner of this little ball of sunshine in the form of a well.. the creature you hold."

' That is.. really thoughtful. Wow.'

Doctor Linda had given an offical diagnosis, for me, of anxiety. I developed post traumatic stress disorder, from Malcolm kidnapping and holding me hostage. I've yet to have another triggered episode of it. Lucifer going out of his way, buying this puppy as a means of helping me, I felt.. Seen.

" This is all.. No. Lucifer, I.."

I cuddled the puppy and I rise up from the island stool. He whined, both his paws rested on my collarbone, licking my face. I chuckled, the taps of his furry tail clanging on my shirt. I couldn't say no to him.

" Alright. Alright. I will keep you." Lucifer clapped, celebrating. " He's in need of a name. What are we thinking? Fur ball? Little shit?"

I rolled my eyes. " Nothing of those kind, Lucifer." I argued. A name came to mind and a mental light-bulb switches straight on.

" Luka. His name is Luka. Meaning bringer of Light. I want to name him after the man who gave him to me."

Luka yipped approving his given name. Lucifer, emotions beholden in how he gazes at me of consternation and shock, faked a cough.

I raised Luka, like rafiki the mandrill did with simba in the lion king. " You are going to be so loved, Luke."

Luka licked Lucifer on his nose. " Well that's a sensation I do not wish to feel, again." He says, cleaning the dog saliva on his nose. I laughed.

Attending an alcoholic anonymous meeting was definitely not on my 'To-Do' list of all things, except it was needed for the sake of Jillian's murder. ' The dealer is here. He has to be.' The department, which handles locating a suspects cellular device and tracks them, said it was right in this meeting hall.

" All right. I say we all give David a thanks, and credit, for bravely giving that speech. Very inspirational."

A chairperson, in charge of the meeting, said. I clapped for 'David'. It wasn't easy admitting to having a problem. " Now. Who is next?"

I look around, hoping I could sense the dealer, but I don't expect Lucifer to take a stand and waved a hand.

" Me."

Puzzled, I scuffed the chair with a little shove and I met Lucifers eyes as he was standing at the podium.

" Hello. My name is Lucifer Morningstar, and I.. love drugs. Love them! Hmm. Yummy, yummy, yummy. I can't get enough. And I've got lots of money. Hmm! That I love spending on drugs."

If this his way of coaxing out our drug-dealer, I had to give him credit where it's due. It's actual deposition, and the fact of how he is doing it is questionable, was creative.

'If this doesn't get our guy to come out of hiding.'

" I'm not picky. I'll do any of them. Mix them together sometimes. You ever done a he-she?"

" The theme of the day is, Your Lowest point."

" Well, geographically, that would be hell of course." Lucifer addressed the room, which the hall of recovering alcoholics and drug-users all mumbled amongst themselves.

" You cannot be lower than that." Lucifer chuckled, in hope of getting the reaction he fished for. However, no one laughed, instead there is a murmur and I go to stand in response to his inappropriately timed repose.

I'm taken aback, as he switches to an earnest and unsmiling tone differentiated by his usual way of speaking.

" I guess it all started when I was abandoned by my mother. Turnabout was fair play, so I abandoned her in turn. I didn't even give her a chance to defend herself."

His eyes found mine, in the room of lost souls who are finding a Shepard to guide them to a better future.

" I mean, what could she possibly.. say.. that could justify what she did."

I nodded, in an effort to encourage Lucifer to continue. He's opening up and that is a good sign he's touching on his emotions. " What.. Is it she would say?" He quietened his words, as I stand up in the crowd silently.

" Okay. We shall touch back on this break through after we have a recess. Tea and biscuits are on the back table. Rest rooms are located in the general areas of the main entrance's corridor."

Gary, whose name I learned seeing a name tag on his vest, stated telling the crowd to take a moment and a break. I waited on Lucifer, whose shoulders were slouched and lumbered, stroll up towards me unbothered.

" Well. That was a dumpster fire of a disaster. My plan to weasel out our little drug-dealer failed."

My hand found itself grasping the folds of his shirt and creased my eyebrows. The simple gesture, though nothing to one around us and to those it looks like I was fixating upon his shirt, made Lucifer eyes soften. " No. it was not a complete failure, Luc. Not to me, any way." I learned a little of Who Lucifer is. How he feels.

I encase my arms around his neck, embracing him. His intoxicating aftershave seeping into a small part of my nose. He relaxes his muscles, a rendering presence of hesitation dissolving at my touch, and returns the hug.

" Sorry to break this moment apart. I was hoping you, and your girlfriend here, are wanting to score. 'Cause I got some really good stuff, if you've got cash."

I was starting to really get annoyed, with people interrupting. It flips when the same devil drug sticker is shown by one of the attendees.

' Is he dumb? Or..? Two can play this game.' I showed off my police badge. " If we are doing show and tell. This is mine."

He back-tracked on selling his 'drugs', Stuttering.

" Actually. It.. it doesn't belong to me. I just found it on.. it on the ground outside."

He tried planning his out, going to turn but I forcibly made a grab for his jacket and stepped forward. Without using an equal amount of force, and strength, I heard a startled grunt coming out of the perpetrator.

I looked to Lucifer, him doing the honour of the drug extraction, which in return he found an interesting amount of purple red pills. This would mean it'll be easier to lock him up. ' We got him.' " You, my friend, are in big trouble."

~โ€ข~

" Oh, good! Ellie, darling. There you are! I have come baring you news and a little detail about our case." I glanced up, to the sound of Lucifer and his voice, clicking out of a web browser to an opened search engine for the case.

" Me too. Our little devilish drug dealer, his alibi is still shaky. he did mention there is another dealer. And Amy's lawyered up, so we can't get anything out of her no more. That is a dead lead. Oh, actually that was a bad choice of wording." I slap a hand on my jaw, mortified, I said that sentence. 'I have been hanging, with Lucifer too much.' The station is lively and the dial tone sounds of phones rang sporadically. I approached my assigned station-desk, seeing a new pile of case-files which need marginalising attention. Some were solved. Some un-solved.

" And all we have to lead with, now, is that this new dealer is selling prescription pills. The old' oxy's, Percocet. You name it. We have to look at the possibility it could be a doctor, or could.. be a pharmacist."

I had, in hand, a medical list of doctors and pharmacies in the in the local region. It will take me an unfavourable amount of time, in order to narrow in on one.

" I am gonna go through these booking sheets, for anyone in the medical industry thats been charged. For, I don't know, malpractice. Improper conduct. It could take me a while to actually get an answer."

Taking place in my chair, I sighed knowing this could be a while. 'I need help. Lucifer is here, i will use him.' I passed a photo-file of mugshots to Lucifer, and he obliged taking the photos. ' I suppose it's coffee time.'

I might be an Angel of god but nothing will stop me from needing it. I listened to Lucifer, in a moment of clarity and realisation, say.

" Bobby B. She was like a mother to her. Excuse me Ellie, darling. While you're working I'm just going to go, and do something that is much needed. Don't follow me, please."

When I went to open my mouth, and say something, I watch him prowl through the swarm of officers in the main hall. 'He's a man on a mission.' An inherent need to follow behind him, made it an impossible task of listening to him saying to not.

I had this perseverance triggered, when I'm with Lucifer, since the day we met. It's like I needed to be where he is, every day of the week twenty four seven. I can't be parted from him.

' I'm not going to listen to him. Whenever there was a time he does this, he finds a way to always get in trouble.' I moved in silence and I closed the cases on my desk. Grabbing my bag.

Driving to the same address which Roberta, a woman Jillian cooper lived and sublet from, I wondered why to myself the possibility of what could have brought Lucifer back here.

I go to raise my hand, and knock, halting my hand to intently listen. Strangled grunts are overwhelmed by the sound of Roberta gritting her teeth spewing out how she killed Jillian. I kick in the door, eyes ablaze furiously, and my eyes land on an ironing pole used for fireplaces she was to use.

Lucifer had his fists raised, I stalked towards her, intercepting her attack by disarming Roberta and thrusting my leg out to shove a foot in her stomach. She is sent flying back in a cabinet. Lucifer, baffled, lowered his fist.

" I had her. You know."

Knowing he was alright, I started to cool off. It is one thing to confess to a crime, like murder, but it's another to act irrationally and repeat it. 'She's going in for a long time.' Lucifer came to check on me. " Dear old Amenadiel's training's been shining through, Lately. And you found... you found me once again. I can't escape you."

I grinned, mischievously. " Never will, Luc."

I rolled my eyes hearing Roberta groan in pain.

" Looks like she is still alive. We should get her in and locked up."

JASMINE SPEAKS;

As you may all see, I'm building betty and her confidence up through the seasons.

She's had a lot of bonding time with Lucifer she is basically turning into him.

That is all part of my plan.

What did you think of this chapter? How she is now able to properly handle herself? Since she became an Angel her confidence has increased.

Tell me your thoughts in the comments. Thank you.
