Seven

I needed my questions answered. The only person I could think of, who I knew would be truthful with no regard to lying, is amenadiel. Aidan offered but personally I could rely on my Friend to tell the truth. I had nothing personal against Aidan, I trust he wouldn't lie, but there is a sense I needed to speak with Amenadiel.

I sat, on the windowsill of my bedroom gingerly pricking skin around my nail of my thumb, stargazing. Watching all and each balls of gas which made stars.

I could name each of those constellations, if given a chance. But I focused on waiting for amen, which didn't take long.

" I sensed you needed to talk. A refutation of how you manage to stop that girls wrist." Amen recounts, gracefully gliding on his feet to sit on the sill.

" Right. I forget, you basically stalk me. My own guardian Angel who can see all I can do."

I bring my legs up leaning my chin on my knees, softly laughing out of the holes of my nostrils. An airy laugh. Amenadiel chuckles rumble his chest. " Indeed you are correct in saying. Elisabetta. I do." I fall quiet, thinking of how I should proceed to ask how I can stop an oncoming slap. I crossed my legs.

" It was so strange, Amen. I had this.. this.."

Moving my hands and wringing them through each other, I continued to talk.

" Sensation of being in danger. It felt.. it felt like an impulse I couldn't control and I acted on it. I felt strong. It wasn't the normal human strength, though."

I sounded insane, disregarding the fact I am talking to an actual thousands of years old in age Angel, explaining this but I can't help nor could I shake the thought out of my brain. He squares his shoulders then moves to sit closer.

" There is no easier answer, to give, than to say what is the truth. That simple truth is you have and possess some quantities of an Angel." Amenadiel watches my face, shifting his eyes to calculate my response to his words. " The day I healed your inflicted shoulder, using one of my feathers, it modified how your human DNA reacts to perilous anomalies. So, putting it simple. You're a quarter of me. Which is why you could react in time and catch her hit."

An Angel feather gave me super senses. Now that is a sentence you don't hear often. Staring in scepticism, I furrow and bunch together my eyebrows. " I know this hard to believe, Lizzie. I would never lie, to you. I swore an oath, I will always be truthful. I intend to keep and honour it." There is nothing but sincerity in the tenebrous voids of his dark eyes, that dance under the moon beams with truth. A tenor in his voice which felt comforting as the first time we met. " I have to leave, now. I won't be far, but that is the obvious information here." He made a move, arising from his place on the sill.

I exhaled a breath of sigh, hearing his wings flutter out of his back, watching him take flight. No matter how long I have known amenadiel, it still takes me time to get us to his angelic lineage. My hand brushes the space of my shoulder bone, light gasping escaping how I had seen a hued twinkle coursing my blood. 'That's incredible.' Eyes falling heavy, I yawn.

I suppose it's time for me to get some sleep in.

At the hours of dawn I had woken up, having an early morning start to the day, I walk down the last step of the staircase and immediately Ana had leaped in my arms. If it wasn't for my newfound reflexes, and caught her, it would've resulted in me falling back. " woah. Hey, now."

I giggled, starting to adapt to having Ana hug me on occasions I did not expect her to do. " I had pancakes, again! Aidan said I would get an upset tummy if I had too much, like you say, Which is not true! And you should have seen how much chocolate chips he put inside the batter. Mommy! It was so much. This much."

Ana extended out her arms, conceptualising an idea of how much of the chocolate chips Aidan used in his pancake recipe. " Well. It sounds as if you did have quite a lot, your sugar levels are probably really high, An." I clean off chocolate on her cheek, using my thumb, eyes crinkling as I grin down at her.

" in the movie, I do some very silly things. Things that, uh, maybe some of your friends might tease you about." Mom's voice carries in the house, she had sat Trixie down and has in her hand an antique collector edition of 'Hot tub High school.' Her old movie she starred in. I knew of the movies existence.

" .. And that's not me anymore. Okay?"

I made a face, pulling down my lips, holding in a snicker. Mom hears those failed efforts and I break down in giggles at her glare.

" Mommy? Why are you laughing?"

Ana ponders, copying my laugh. Aidan came out of using the shower. " I know. I've seen this before, Mommy. I have the internet."

Trixie replies, honestly.

" Why is Ana saying Mommy to Ellie? I just heard Ana call her mommy. That is not the first time An-An has said it." Aidan's eyes wonder to me and I awkwardly scratch a spot on my neck.

Mom's eyes follow trixies, questions swirling in her vision but chooses to leave it alone. " I do not know, baby. Ana is young, and maybe sees Ellie as her Mom, 'cause of Ellie's kindness. it does attracts everyone she meets. Yeah, that's is the reason." Mom, not certain or having any trust in her own affirmation, reading my face then casts, with a glimpse of indecision, a look to Aidan and Ana. " Nothing to be concern about Monkey. We gotta get you ready, now."

I have my own questions too, Mom. I have mine. I sighed mentally.

Of all the days today I begin an internship at the Los Angeles police department. Academics play an integral component, with my chosen career, of wanting to be a police officer and follow the path my parents chose. My nerves weren't for intimidationโ€” more the fact I will be training in the field alongside experts and a team of officers.

" Ah. I see another decker has joined our fellow squadron. I am Olivia Monroe, the departments in charge lieutenant. I will be your acting chauffeur for today's time. I hope you won't disappoint me. I have an high expectation you'll do me and the LAPD proud."

Lieutenant Monroe assess's grasping, firm and leniently, my hand. " Have to say, kid. You are a spitting image of your late father. May his soul find peace. Decker was the top chief of police this place had seen in decades. Now we have his child on the force. A true legacy!" My birth father. I was too young to remember who my dad is, being he had met an unfortunate fate of being shot during the line of active duty. Not long after my actual mother surrendered to her gun shot wound, too.

Aunt Chloe had lost her older brother.

I adjust my name tag to distract myself.

" I have the feeling you won't be needing a station tour. You know the basics. However I will give you these." Olivia hands an open Manila folder containing data and cases.

" Start slow. I don't want this to be the reason, you quit on the first day. God knows I've seen too many back out because of pressure. Don't think 'bout these too much. 'Kay?" She guides me through Desk cuticles, to an empty desk working space, phones ringing systematically flooding the department with new arrests and jobs.

" I will be out of your hair. So you can concentrate. You don't ask questions or talk a lot. That's good." Because I didn't have any chances given to talk. I wanted to say out loud. I lower my bottom down on the seat, just when Olivia walks off shouting for her coffees status.

'Some peace and quiet. Finally. Well as quiet as it can be when you're in a police station.' My eyes take in the information on paper, dark red lettering read 'Case Undecided' in underlining. 'This is.. hang on. This is the Palmetto case my mom, and uncle Dan, were on.'

Malcolm, an old detective in the same field with my mom, is currently lying comatose in a hospital bed on life support from hearsay's and rumours I have heard. 'Why would lieutenant Monroe assign me this knowing my family history with him?'.

There is a sinister gleam in Malcolm's mugshot picture. Corruption had dug deep in his soul, clouding his morality. I shudder at the thought of meeting him.

" Ah yes, hello, you must be the newest intern starting today! Elisabetta, that is your name. News travels fast here." A hand is waved in my line of vision, distracting me away from the piles of cases I have to finish examining.

" I'm Nelson Wong! I happen to be the chief medical examiner here." Constraining a feeling of reservation, from all the attention I had on me, I smile; hesitant.

" It's nice to meet you. Nelson." He moves his rather expensive, and professional, camera used for crime scenes to his waist while peering down at my assigned cases.

" I worked on this job. The Scene of the crime was brutal, in my opinion."

He inhaled a sharp crack of air.

" Speaking of on scene jobs. You will be joining me, for today's lesson. I will tell you all the details on the way there. Lieutenant Monroe assigned your detail before you arrive and such. Your aunt happened to be the one to call it in." Aunt Chloe? Mom? I went to ask for more information but Nelson walked ahead.

" Come on! Let's not waste more time than we should."

~โ€ข~

Nelson had given access to his camera for me to use, and picture evidence from the scene of today's crime. A woman found floating dead in a swimming pool, wearing red lace lingerie, at a house party. Lucifer was on scene and I had to automatically roll my eyes at the irony of it. Of course he would be seen at a late night, most likely drug fuelled, bender. Partying and indulging girls. It was rather peculiar how he is the man to have found the victim. 'Speak of the devil and he shall appear.' Lucifer crept up to behind me, I flinched when he tickled my side.

" Lucifer. Stop, I'm trying to take photos here. Shoo." I roll my eyes, it is a recent new habit of mine induced by his very presence. " Oh, Betty. Darling, you are starting to sound like your old aunt. Where is the fun? if there is two of you?" He scowls, pouting rather immaturely for a man his age in my opinion. " I don't want to get in trouble w..with Nelson. Lucifer. I wanna be taken serious in this field." I huff, flashing from the camera spread across the marked area of assorted, different and discarded bras.

" I will make these hellions take you serious if they don't do so themselves. Just say the word, I will come to your beacon and call." My heart begins palpating, missing beats, to how serious he sounded.

" I appreciate your words. Lucifer. I am a big girl, who needs to learn how to walk on her own two legs, with no help."

I say, never realising how close exactly Lucifer was.

I had no reason to be intimated by his structure, but my height of five feet six inches compared to his six foot two was exceedingly recognisable. I clear my throat purposefully loud. " Could you move? Lucifer. Please."

My voice is light, as I am talking. He listens, flicking his tongue out.

" Yes, of course. Sorry for being the way, Betty. I'll be a good little devil and stay out of your way."

Needing to walk past Lucifer, to exit the guest bedroom, I made certain I would avoid tampering the tapped crime scene. There is an electrical spark current which shocks me on my fingers grazing Lucifer on his hand and skin. 'What was that?' He too is conflicted at how the sparks fly out from our touch.

" Petechial haemorrhaging in the eyes. Contusions on the neck." Nelson examines the body, pointing to each of her sustained injuries on her skin. Violent blue, purple, bruises are all visible on her post-mortem report and body itself. I handle her cold manicured hands. " I can't believe someone so cruel would do this to her." I sympathise, Aunt Chloe hums agreeing.

" Signs of strangulation." She states, ligaturing marks from the suspect using his bare hands on her. " And one of the victims fake nails was ripped off." This is all signs of a murder. How insidious can this world be to women? Being a girl, woman, in this country is terrifying alone.

I use my thumb, and pointing finger, to close the victims eyes. Laying her to rest. Nelson had zipped her body in a bag laid on an emergency gurney, preparing for her to be taken to the morgue. Mom is questioning a star quarter back, Ty Huntley, I learned about.

I finished photographing each room of the massive mansion, moving to take a stance beside my mom.

" I have don't think I have enough space for more photos. My mistake, Oops." I wearily state, glancing up from the gallery.

" I had... I had never drank before until last night. H..Hey there." Ty stutters his words from his lips. He, bashful, did a crooked curled smile. " oh. This is Ellie, my.. daughter. She is an intern. That started today. Don't worry. You are free judgement from her. Ellie I'm just questioning Ty here 'cause he is the last personย  our victim was with." Mom confirms, which I see Ty had cased his eyes over my face which I don't think too deeply about. He's nervous, of course. Seeing a girl dead would bring out all nerves from anyone.

" Not to be too bold and considering where where we are.. but I would like to say I thin.."

Ty is interrupted by Lucifer, intercepting the conversation and his hand found its way on my waistline. 'Now why would Lucifer do that for?' I thought. I found his behaviour remarkably odd but it's Lucifer.

" that's on me, Sorry." He apologises, sarcasm fresh in his words. 'That move was almost like he was telling Ty to back off. No, that is not it.' I was overreacting too much and quick. " Yeah. So I came down to get some water, and that.. that is when I had seen her. There in the pool." Ty reiterates how he had taken notice to her on her stomach, facing the water.

" Did you know her? At all?" I ask, writing points on my note- pad. " Not before last night. I talked to her for a little bit. Her name was uh.. Ali. Maybe? I..I don't know. I mean, I'm having a hard time. Y'know remembering." I feel Lucifers grip tighten, those electric flashes now more prevalent.

" do you think she some how tripped, fell in the pool, and drowned?" It wasn't an impossible scenario to have happen but these all point to foul play. " No. I think she was murdered." Mom stated, Blunt. " Oh, my god, that's.. That's terrible." Ty said and he frowns.

" So why didn't you call the police right away?" Mom interrogates, straight forward with wanting to know answers. " Well. I told Lucifer he said.. he would call the police." Straight on the money. Knew it. There is my confirmation I needed. " I did. Detective deckers a homicide detective. She has been very helpful with other murders I've encountered." Mom, disbelieving at hearing Lucifer declaring, faces him head on and glares. I sheepishly flash a small grin at Ty, not liking how awkward it turned. 'Oh. No.'

" I am not your personal police concierge."

Okay, the ground needs to swallow me whole, I'm leaving this situation. I did a timid nod to Ty, just as I go to leave, slipping out of Lucifers hold.

This is a first day I am going to remember for the rest of my life. Why does this happen to me, of all people?

Those sparks I felt. Strange.

JASMINE SPEAKS;

I updated again! As you can see obviously. I, for one, am actually real glad I finally figured out which direction this book is going. I hope you guys will agree with these ideas because if not, I won't force you guys to continue reading. I will never have people feel forced to read my fics.

Anyway, I thinks an appropriate time to mention Ellie and Lucifer's children's actors.

Alex and Matthew daddario as Aidan and Amelia decker-Morningstar. Anastasia's actress is Emily Alyn Lind and we known Rory.

Now we know why Ellie could sense the hand coming towards her and stopping it. I thought I could make my own interpretation of how an Angel feather could work on humans. That is a hint of her future self. That is all I am saying.

What did you guys think of the chapter? Ellie beginning her internship at LAPD? Lucifer's actions around Ellie and Ty? I chose this as her profession from the start because of her aunty/mother, Chloe.

Thank you for reading my fic.
