Missing You

Awsten fell asleep safe in Geoff's arms. When he woke up he was alone.

Deep down he knew this would happen. They had been meeting up for three months and Awsten had fallen for the brunette with blue eyes, and hard.

They slept together once and afterwards Awsten knew he wasn't enough for him. Geoff was tall and mysterious. His eyes were a deep blue, so deep Awsten got lost in them everytime he saw them.

Geoff's hair was the perfect texture for Awsten to run his fingers through and his smile was the purest thing Awsten had ever seen. Geoff was kind, caring, funny and a good listener. He had helped Awsten with every issue presented to him and he did it graciously. He wanted to help Awsten and to Awsten, Geoff was perfect.

The purple haired boy knew better than to cry but it was so hard to keep the tears at bay, especially when the house had never felt so empty. On his way to the kitchen, Awsten noticed every little creak of the stairs, every little crack in the walls. He noticed everything. He noticed how lonely and cold he was. Geoff left and took with him the joy the younger boy used to feel.

"I don't know what to do Jet. Should I call him?" The grey cat just looked at him then she turned her head and stalked away. "Yeah, that's what I thought." Awsten muttered.

With a heavy sigh Awsten made himself some coffee and sat down at the table. He didn't normally drink coffee as he found the taste a little harsh but Friday was just one of those days. Looking down at the dark liquid occupying the porcelain cup Awsten realised how far he'd fallen.

"I really have hit rock bottom. I think I got so caught up in finding someone who cares about me that when I finally found someone I let them go and somehow ended up losing myself."

On his quest to find himself, Awsten's first stop was the coffee shop where he and his best, and only, friend worked. Awsten twisted his wrist and checked the small clock face resting there. Two pm, half way through Otto's shift.

"I guess a little visit couldn't hurt." Awsten decided. Using both hands, Awsten pushed open the heavy door and walked inside the warm café.

A tired brunette stood behind a orange counter, resting his chin in his hand. "You look so depressed right now." Awsten said, greeting Otto. At the sound of his voice Otto immediately perked up and grinned. "Hey Aws! What are you doing here? It's your day off."

"Oh, you know. Tired, cold, woke up without the perfect boy I fell asleep with the usual." Awsten shrugged and shoved his hands in his pockets.

Otto frowned. He hated seeing Awsten like this. It had only happened once before but from the description he'd been given previously, Geoff meant so much more to Awsten than Patty did and he actually dated Patty properly for about a year. Geoff must be special if this is Awsten's reaction to him leaving.

Awsten walked over to where a wooden panel was connected to the wall and the counter. Without looking he felt for the lock and pulled it back, lifting up the panel.

As an employee he knew where to put his jacket. Awsten spotted Otto's and placed it next to his before joining Otto on his side of the counter.

The bell above the door rang indicating someone had entered. Both boys lifted their heads to greet the newcomer and Awsten's jaw dropped.

Blonde hair, blue eyes, a perfect smile. "Shit!" Awsten dropped down and hid behind the counter. "Hi Otto, my usual please." Patty said, drumming his fingers on the countertop.

"Sure, two minutes." Otto set about making Patty's drink and tried hard not to look at Awsten. Thankfully Patty hadn't noticed he was there so didn't see him disappear.

"So how's it going?" Otto asked. "It's been good thanks. Just came home off tour. The band's good, Ben's good, we moved in together about three months ago."

"Oh yeah I forgot you guys got together."

There was an awkward silence.

"How's Awsten doing?" Patty asked, desperate to change the subject. "He's good, he was in here earlier. You just missed him actually."

"Oh that's a shame, I wanted to talk to him actually. I know we're not great at the moment but I still want to know him y'know? Like he still means a lot to me."

Awsten sighed. He missed Patty a lot. They broke up because Awsten didn't feel like they could handle a long distance relationship when Patty went on tour. He regretted it but it was for the best. If he was still with Patty he wouldn'tve found Geoff.

"Here's my number, please give it to him when you next see him. It's all up to Awsten now." Otto nodded and picked up the napkin, letting his hand drop down. Awsten grabbed the napkin from his hand and entered Patty's number into his phone.

Patty payed for his drink, thanked Otto and left. "Ok he's gone." Otto gave the all clear and Awsten popped his head up.

"You looked like a Meerkat." Otto laughed. Awsten shook his head and poked his friends arm.

"Whatever. Your shift's over now. Come on, you're joining me on my quest to find myself!" Awsten declared. Awsten had many 'quests' like this and Otto had, in a way, become insensitzed so he just nodded and went along with it.

-

Their quest ended in the park, like it normally did. "What now?" Otto asked, swinging his legs to try and match Awsten's pace.

"I really don't know. I'll probably go home, feed Jet, order pizza and fall asleep in front of The Office." Awsten said, slowing down to a halt. Otto soon joined him and the two sat on the stationary swings, enjoying the cool breeze wash over them.

"I meant about Geoff. What's next? Are you gonna call him or what?" Awsten sighed and shrugged.

"I...I think I really like him Otto. The past three months have been the best three months and he's helped me feel better about myself and picked me up from a level I didn't know I'd fallen to." He confessed.

"Why don't you tell him that?" Otto nodded his head to something behind Awsten. Curious, he turned round and the smile the hope that left him once came rushing back in a flood.

"Geoff?"

"Hey sugar plum." The same blue eyes that the younger fell in love with winked at him and Awsten couldn't stop his feet carrying him towards Geoff, his abandoned swing rocking wildly beside Otto.

Strong arms encircled him and held the plum boy tightly. Awsten breathed in his scent and smiled. He was really here. "I'm so sorry I left. I regretted it all day." Geoff whispered.

"Then why did you?" His voice cracked. "I've been feeling like shit all day. I thought after last night that...that I wasn't good enough and you didn't want me anymore." Awsten cried, not caring about how weak he looked.

"No, God no Aws you were amazing, you're so perfect. I was scared. I've never been with a guy before and I...I didn't know how to feel. I didn't want to hurt you."

"It hurt Geoff. I know you didn't want to but it hurt." Awsten said.

"I love you Awsten."

"I love you too Geoff. Please don't leave me again."

"Trust me, I'm not going anywhere."
