Chapter Two

I had just finished my shift and today was as busy as ever. I could feel me feet throbbing, as they were so swollen and sore from being on my feet all day. As I opened the door of the restaurant, I felt the cold breeze hit my face making me shiver. Pulling my coat tighter around me I started my walk back to the boat. All the way, I felt like I was being watched again, just like this morning. Hearing footsteps in the distance I started to speed up a bit but hearing the footsteps not far behind me speeding up as well, I started to make a run for it. I took a quick glimpse behind me making sure they couldn’t see me, as soon as I seen nothing but their shadow I ran behind one of the big dumper rubbish bins. I held my breath as I thought of the last time I was in this exact position, I wanted to scream and run as far as I could away from here. However, I just kept as still and as quite as I could with both my hands wrapped around my swollen belly as trying to protect my baby.

I could hear the foots steps getting nearer my body began to shake as the sound of heavy breathing along with the footsteps were now right beside me. “Please don’t stop, keep walking please,” I pleaded to myself, but then everything went silent except the loud drumming of my panicking heart. I sat frozen just waiting, I didn’t know what I was waiting for but I knew it could just be a trap and the minute I move, they could pounce on me. Although I was freezing cold, I could feel the sweat running down from my forehead. My body was shaking so violently I had to push myself closer into the wall. Hearing a mans voice not even five steps away from me had me screaming for my life inside. I could hear him taking into the phone but I was panicking so much that I couldn’t make out what he was saying. I tried to calm myself down and clear my head so I could try to listen in on what he was saying. “Yes boss it was definitely her” I heard him say, I took in a quite breath as I tried to keep calm. “Ok boss, how do you need me to bring her back to you, dead or alive?” My blood ran cold and my body went completely numb as I heard him. Everything around me seemed to vanish as I couldn’t feel or think it was as if I was completely paralysed. As I could hear every word but I couldn’t react, then I heard his last words before he hung up, “Alive it is then” his voice sounded like a recording or like he was brainwashed, he just didn’t seem human at all.

Looking down at my swollen baby bump I started to rub soothing circles across my stomach, as the baby was moving and kicking more than usual. It was as if the baby was fighting inside me, I could feel the baby settling down inside me under my hand. I continued to rub soothing circles while listening out for any sign of the man. After a while of nothing, I decided to take a look. The streetlight was shinning against the wall opposite me, seeing there were no shadows I started to push my body out a little further. Once I was sure that no one was there, I started to shuffle my body the whole way out. I kept low to the ground I started to crawl around the dumpster, I was just beside the edge of the wall that led onto the main street, when I paused. I listened out closely for any voices, but there was nothing at all. I needed to get out of here and fast, I thought to myself.

As soon as I seen that there was no one about I made a run for it towards the old docks. Pain shot through my feet, every time my feet touched off the ground. They were so sore and swollen that I had to bit the inside of my mouth to stop me screaming out.

 I kept my eyes peeled to my surroundings making sure no one was following me. As I mad it to the old wooden dock, I ducked down behind an old cabin that was still in view of my boat. I scanned the whole area again for anything suspicious, as I needed to get some things from the boat before I could leave. My heart was pounding so fast that I was starting to feel slightly light headed. I kept taking in deep breaths, as right now I didn’t have time to feel scared or panicky. I just needed to get my things and get out of here. As soon as I felt it was safe, I started to walk towards the boat. Once I boarded the boat, I started to grab as much as I could and threw it all into the suitcase. Without wasting anytime at all, I zipped the case up and started to run.

As soon as I spotted the sign that said “Thank you for visiting WestlakeVillage,” I felt relieved. Walking along the side of the road, I kept an eye out for somewhere to sleep, as my feet were so bad. Keeping close to the woods as I walked, I saw a gap that looked like some sort of track from walkers. I slipped in through the gap, as I couldn’t walk any further.  Spotting a massive tree with bushes underneath it looked perfect. Dragging the suitcase over to the hedge, I took the towels out, and laid them down on the ground as well as wrapping a couple around me. While sitting on the ground with my back up towards the tree trunk, I started to take my shoes off. My feet looked so red and swollen it worried me; I started to massage them as I tried to sooth the pain.

I must have dozed off as I was awakened by a loud crunching sound. Cold shivers ran through my body with fear, keeping as quite as I could I moved deeper into the bush. Hearing a branch breaking closer to me this time had my head spinning in the direction of the noise. It was pitch black, I couldn’t even see my legs in front of me, and the moon was blocked by clouds giving no light at all. I could hear crunching of the leaves from the footsteps on the ground. Every hair on my body was standing on end; I had a bad feeling that this time I was not going to escape. The crunching noise stopped right in front of me, holding my breath I kept as still as I could. However, as my body began to shake I was finding it harder to keep still. My blood ran cold as I heard the bush move, the fear of the unknown was worse than anything, as I couldn’t see a thing. God they could be pointing a gun at my head right now and I wouldn’t have a clue, I thought to myself. Just that thought had me freaking out inside. I was panicking so much that I just wanted to jump up and scream. However, thinking of my baby I couldn’t do it.  As I wrapped my arms protectively around my swollen stomach, I felt a blow to the head. It was so hard it made me fall into the bush; I kept my hands wrapped around me as I screamed. “Oh Sheena, tut, tut tut, did you really think you could escape me?” his voice was husky and hard and held so much venom it made me squirm. “Not talking I see. Well I will talk, you can otherwise do this the hard way or the easy way, it’s your choice?” he said. Cold shivers ran down my spine with every word he spoke. He bent down grabbing me roughly by the shoulder and started to drag me out of the bush. “Well I guess it’s going to be the hard way then” He spat at me. “No please, I will listen please,” I pleaded as my body scraped along the rough ground. He shined a torch straight into my face, blinding me. “Get up then” he said as he started to pull me up by my arm. My eyes were all fuzzy from the blinding light he had shone at me, I tried my best to get up but I was shaking so bad it was hard. I couldn’t manage to steady myself, my head was spinning and my heart felt like it was otherwise going to explode or just stop. I was in such a state I couldn’t do anything.

Once I was standing, he started to lead me out of the woods were I saw two big men waiting by a big blacked out jeep. Panic took over as I started to fight the man that was holding me off. He was too strong; I couldn’t even break my arm free from his hold. I could hear them all laughing at me, which turned all my fear and panic into a mixture anger and frustration. He pushed me roughly into the jeep, my tears streamed down my face as I cried out for help. He slapped me right across my face to shut me up, but I couldn’t stop ,as much as I tried  I just couldn’t.  Crying hysterically, he continued to slap me around the head and face before he put duck tape across my mouth.

Sitting in the back of the jeep with a man either side of me I thought this is it, my family have finally won. I knew deep inside, that as soon as we reached wherever they were taking me that they were going to kill me. Right now, I wished I had never left Damon and went to the police instead, but knowing that my family had people working for the police I just couldn’t of risked it. I tried picturing Damon’s face and pleaded that some way I could get him to hear me calling, I kept praying for him to find me. “WHY DID I LEAVE?” I screamed to myself. I felt the man to the right of me grab me hands and then saw the other one pull the tape back out, he started to tie my hands together then they done the same to my feet. The one on the left of me started to stroke his fingers down the side of my face, “Hmm what I could do to you right now” He leaned in and whispered into my ear. My heart raced in my chest as his closeness was killing me. Then feeling another hand stroking my thigh I tried to wiggle but they were both crushing me in between them. They both started to touch me, I squeezed my eyes closed and tried to focus on Damon’s face as I cried. I felt fingers sliding up my inner thigh I kept moving about hoping to stopped him but I couldn’t as they both held my legs still. I felt disgusting and dirty, the worst thing was, that I could do absolutely nothing about it. As I just had to sit there and leave them play with my most private and personal bits, I was crying so hard as I felt a hand squeezing my breast while another was trying to get inside my panties. “OH god Damon, please help me I can’t take this Damon please!” I kept pleading as I continued to try to squeeze my legs closed.

Feeling the car come to a stop made me feel a little relieved inside, but that soon vanished as soon as I saw who had opened the door. I felt as if I was going to throw up, this is it I’m dead, I told myself, as I was pulled out of the jeep.
