Chapter Ten
Chapter Ten
Their where reporters and television crews scattered everywhere along with armed FBI and police officers, there was even a bomb disposal unit there. I didn’t even have time to make any sense of all of it, before being thrown into a back of a van. Fear shot threw my body as I started remembering the night that I was shot. I tried so hard to try and clear my head however, hearing the panicked orders being screamed out wasn’t helping. I started mentally shouting at myself to pull it together, reminding myself that this was my job and I am just going to have to forget that this is personal. Nevertheless, no matter how much I scolded myself it wasn’t working, as all I could see was my two princesses. Damn, “Sergeant, Fergal, Tony, God will somebody answer me?” I screamed out at the top of my lungs in despair. The whole van went silent as they all turned around to face me. Their faces mirrored the exact way that I was feeling inside.” What the hell is going on?” I screamed out to no one in particular. A few of the men just started rubbing the backs of their necks while the others just bowed there heads down while keeping there eyes fixed on the floor. Just as I was about to start screaming again FBI agent Tony spoke up. “Damon, we have a much bigger problem on our hands right now and for now our main priority is to keep you safe.” I cut him off “What about Sheena and Destiny?” I asked him, my blood ran cold as I watched his face go paler than white. “There have been moved to a safe place” He replied stuttering. The anger and hate that I have been holding back for so long exploded as I charged towards agent Tony, I was going to kill him. Just as I reached him, officers around him blocked me. Screaming and shouting I continued trying to fight them off. After a while, I stopped knowing there was no way I was going to get past them.
Knowing damn well that he was trying to cover up something made me feel sick. God don’t any of these morons know I’m not just some person off of the street. I’m one of them and this is exactly the thing I would be saying when something had gone seriously wrong.
While two officers had me pinned down on the hard metal floor of the van another one put handcuffs on me. “Damon when you calm down we will explain everything to you however, right now is not the time or place we have to get you as far away from here as possible do you understand?” not having any more energy in me to fight I nodded my head.
I don’t know how long we where on the road for as I was too deep in my own thoughts, well that was until I heard the back doors to the van opening. As the doors opened up, I spotted my sergeant, giving me a sorrowful and pitiful look, which just seemed to push me over board. He leaped in the van and placed a firm hand on my shoulder. ”Damon “he said sternly, “That’s enough; now follow me and not a word.” The officers either side of me helped me up onto me feet, I mentally started cursing blue murder. I knew I needed to calm down but it was like I was a bull wanting to charge and kill everyone in sight. It was as if something inside of me had finally snapped. The amount of rage inside me was scaring the hell out of me, as even my vision was becoming red. Picturing Destiny in Sheena’s arms, I tried desperately to calm myself down.
Everything was going through my head; it was spinning so bad that I was even getting visions of Sheena and Destiny lying dead in the middle of know where. Tears where running down my cheeks out of desperation and fear, I couldn’t believe there where keeping whatever it was away from me. As we stepped down out of the van, my stomach sank as I saw the supposed to be safe house. Bile rose up into my mouth at the thought of going in there. It was Heidi’s house (Cherelle’s mothers) and as much as I was screaming on the inside, I managed to keep my mouth shut as right now all I wanted, was to find out where Sheena and our princess was. Within minutes, I was sitting on the sofa in the front room. However, it wasn’t like a front room anymore as they had turned it into what looked like a war zone. Armed officers where running around the place it was as if they where expecting some kind of combat. “Damon” sergeant called, looking up at him he nodded his head informing me to follow. Standing up an officer undone my handcuffs, as grateful as I was I didn’t bother to thank him as I was too rapped up in everything else that was going on. Following behind the sergeant, I couldn’t believe the amount of armed men there were. The fear for Sheena and Destiny’s lives was killing me inside, as I had never seen an operation as big as this. Stopping in front of a big metal door, the armed officers that where lined up in front moved aside letting us enter. Walking into the room, I didn’t know what to expect to see, but the last person I was expecting to see there was sitting cuffed to a metal table. I wanted to grab a gun from the nearest officer and kill him, but Fergal came up beside me and held onto my arm and whispered “Damon, we need him” hearing his words didn’t stop the pure anger running through my veins but did stop me from killing him. “Ah Damon I see they called you” he said. Feeling more hatred then I have ever in my entire life I couldn’t answer him, as all I wanted was to end his life. “Damon, he is here to help Sheena”, “What,” I screamed out shutting my sergeant up. Then Sheena’s Dad started to speak but I couldn’t make out a word he was saying, as all I could hear was the drumming of my heartbeat. Fergal then nudged me “I know you hate me and you have every right too. However, right now I am here to make things right” I heard him saying. Not knowing whether to believe him or not, I decided to hear him out. Walking closer towards him Fergal tugged on my arm pulling me to a stop, giving him a reassuring look, I took a seat across from Sheena’s dad before motioning for him to go on. “Where do you want me to start?” he asked, before answering I quickly glimpsed up at Fergal and mouthed “Is Sheena and Destiny safe?” he nodded his head giving me a small smile. Knowing she was safe eased my panicked state but didn’t seem to stop my anger from bubbling. “From the beginning” I spat out with so much venom. Seeing him flinch at my words put the biggest smile on my face, you turn to squirm in fear now sucker, I thought to myself.
After an hour or so of interrogating him, I had learned that the reason Cherelle’s and Sheena’s mothers where after Sheena and had her kidnapped, was because every penny was turned over to Sheena by both of their fathers. Even though Sheena had no clue of this, they had every one of their men out to get her. They had even had solicitors, written up contracts to sign everything over to them. As I sat there going over everything he had told me, I couldn’t believe that this was all real. It was as if I was in a badass mafia movie and half of Mexico’s biggest drug lords were out to hunt us down.
Knowing deep down that not even witness protection would be able to save us now had me in a state of despair. Taking a deep breath, I cleared my throat before standing and walking out of the room. Soon as I exited, I collapsed onto the floor and cried there was know way on earth that we were going to get out of this. Sheena me, and our princess were going to die even as I speak now I knew there was hundreds of men looking for us, as there was a million dollar reward on our capture. Sensing Fergal and Tony beside me I raised my head up from the ground “Take me to Sheena please” I pleaded between my sobs, they both held out a hand to help me up and nodded.
They led me back out to the van, once we where all seated they instructed a few of their own men to follow us.
We drove for about an hour before, we reached an old derelict building in the middle of know where. It was as if there was no one here at all, as I was scanning the area. Although I was exhausted, adrenalin kicked in, seeing a glimpse of a suited man standing at the side of the building. I jumped out of the van. Agent Fergal and Tony where at my side within seconds followed closely by the others, hearing the engines of the vehicles starting up made me quickly turn around. I watched as the vans where driven away but even before I had a chance to ask agents Fergal and Tony what was happening, they informed me that this was for safety reasons so don’t worry. I ran off towards where I had seen the man standing only moments ago in hope of finding Sheena. “Damon this way2 Fergal shouted as he ran in the opposite direction. My heart pounded heavy and hard against my chest making it so hard to breathe. Feeling anxiety I took in a slow deep breath, everything was happening so fast that I was beginning to crumble. Fighting with every bit of strength, I had left inside me I kept walking. Fergal and Tony must have noticed as the pair of them helped support me as they helped me the rest of the way. After walking through what looked like a load of over grown bushes there was a small house hidden there. Seeing the house had me moving faster with a mixture of worry and excitement. Entering the house Sheena came crashing into me in her wheel chair with Destiny strapped to her in her baby carrier, bending down to her level, I wrapped them both into my arms and left the tears fall. “Damon I love you so much I was so worried nobody would tell me anything,” she babbled out between her heart wrenching sobs. My heart felt like it was going to explode into a million pieces as she broke down. “Oh Sheena, I love you too baby girl more than anything in the world” I kept kissing both of them repeatedly; I hugged them protectively not wanting to ever let them go. “Sheena I promise you and Destiny I will never ever leave you out of my sight for as long as I’m alive. From now on it’s going to be three of us together forever baby forever.” I told her with all of my heart.
She continued to sob into my chest as I held her, after a few minutes, I slowly inched back a little to take a better look at her and making sure she wasn’t injured in any way.
Seeing our little princess still sound asleep against her chest amazed me, she looked as beautiful as her mother as she slept. As I watched her sleep all the built up anger frustration and rage I was feeling disappeared. Destiny always seemed to fill me with an overwhelming amount of love every time I looked at her as well as her mother. “Sheena I know everything at the minute is crazy but baby in my heart I know we are going to get through this. We have been through so much together and it has only made us stronger. Just promise me now that no matter what happens and no matter how hard it gets you will not try and leave. As I don’t think, I would be able to go through losing you again. I would rather die then ever having to live another day without you.” Opening my heart up to her, I was hoping to give her the strength that she gives me and the determination to see this through. Although I didn’t know what was going to happen to us right now I didn’t care, as knowing that I have the two most precious people here in my arms was enough for me. Hearing someone clearing their throat I raised my head up, seeing the room full of armed guards shocked me. I had totally forgotten we where in a room filled with people but I didn’t care however, that didn’t stop the blush rising to my cheeks. Agents Fergal and Tony began laughing along with a few of the other officers as Sheena hid her face. Hearing loud shots being fired outside silenced us all, terror flushed through my body at lighting speed. I took hold of the handles on Sheena’s wheelchair and pushed her deeper into the room and far away from the doors. The room became frantic as armed officers ran to barricade the doors. “This place has been specially built Damon no one can get in so just stay low ok?” Tony reassured me. I thanked him as I wrapped my arms protectively around Sheena and Destiny.
The silence in the room was deafening as the gunfire echoed of the metal walls. I could feel the cold sweat dripping off me as Sheena’s body shook violently against my chest. Bless her I could tell she was trying everything not to cry out which was killing me. Seeing her like this was unbearable. As quick as the gunfire started that’s how it stopped. I was now whishing for it to start again as the silence was freaking me out more. As I couldn’t make out where they where, or if they where there or not ,or if they had found a way in here. So many questions where running through my head so fast I was beginning to feel light headed. I rested my chin desperately against Sheena’s head as I tried to clear my head. Taking a quick look around the room, I noticed that every officer looked on edge it was like the silence was killing them too. Then a loud crashing sound blasted against the door it was like they had set a bomb off. Then it sounded like a war how broke out, hearing the radio’s alerting us that the back up was now here had my heart slowing down a little. However I could tell Sheena was becoming weaker as her body was shaking so violently that no matter how hard I held her I couldn’t help her. “Tony help me please” I called out, as soon as he seen Sheena he shouted out for the doctor. An armed officer dropped his gun to the floor and picked up a big bag with first aid written all over it. Keeping her as close to my chest as possible I stroked her hair hoping to help sooth her. Seeing the doctor pull out a small bottle and a needle I held Sheena tighter as the doctor injected Sheena. Feeling her body instantly, calming down I left out a big breath that I didn’t realise that I was holding in. Just as my heart started to beat at a more normal pace all the officers’ radio’s started going haywire.
