Chapter Nine

Damon scooped me up out of my chair and held me in the most warm and loving way ever. I couldn’t help but giggle, as I was feeling so many different emotions, nevertheless all of them where good.  After a while, Damon placed me back down into my chair, “Ok missy what has you smiling so much and so excited hey? I know I’m gorgeous and everything but please” he said giving me a playful wink while laughing. Feeling the smile on my face getting bigger I tried to cover it up but there was no hope in hell, I was just too excited. “Come on, I have to take you somewhere first” Damon’s face as I said that looked puzzled but he still held that playful look. “Well my sexy lady show us the way” he was trying to be all-serious, but it was not working at all. Damon pushed Destiny’s stroller so it was right beside me leaning over I quickly gave Destiny a kiss, bless her she looked so cute. “Let’s go, race you,” I shouted back as I took off.

Once we reached the gym, Damon gave me a funny look. “Sheena why are we here?”  And just as he asked Lexis walked in, yes I had it all planned out, ha. Lexis walked alongside Destiny and Damon and showed them over to the seating area. I have been working so hard that I was scared now, scared that everything I had worked so hard for would go down the drain along with my hopes. “Sheena” Damon called, but I could hear Lexis shushing him so I didn’t reply. I sat in my chair that was in between to poles with sponge mats placed either side. Slowly and nervously, I stood up, hearing Damon gasp so loud I nearly lost my balance. Blanking out all my surroundings, I focused hard on steadying myself, slowly I took my first step it was slow and wobbly but I done it. Then I found my inner strength and focused like I did every time I tried, Damon’s and Destiny’s smiling faces. Within seconds, I had taken ten steps as I turned to make my way back I couldn’t believe it Damon was full blown crying. I could see he wanted to run over to me as Lexis was holding him down, ha. Giving both of them a proud and happy smile I started my walk back, “WOW” Damon said out loud however, I think he was saying it more to him self then to me. Once reaching the other side Lexis left Damon go, he came running up to me and started spinning me around. It so felt amazing not only to walk but to see his face looking at me so proud. “I can’t believe it Sheena I really cant I am so proud of you baby. I love you so much. Destiny did you see that mummy walked.” He kept rambling on and on however, I didn’t care because I just loved seeing him so happy.

After he stopped crying, screaming and jumping around the place we made our way back to my room. Where it was time for his second surprise of the day, “Damon I have thought a lot about this and I want you to get rid of Destiny’s child minder,” Damon looked scared his face had gone as white as a ghost. “Ha another surprise for you” I said giggling “I will be looking after our baby from now on, whenever your working” his face had gone from like a zombie to a clown in seconds Lexis and me couldn’t hold back the laughter. Doubled over in laughter I held onto my sides, “Oh baby your face is so funny” Damon blushed, a full-blown tomato blush which only made Lexis and me laugh even more. Before I could say anything else, Damon had me on his lap with his arms wrapped around me. Moving his lips so they where just hovering over mine “God, one day you are going to be the death of me” he said before crashing his hungry juicy lips against mine. The kiss started hungrily but then quickly turned wild and passionate, a loud clearing of a throat broke us apart. “PG rated you two, baby is in the room,” Lexis told us sternly while trying to hold in her laughter. Ah today has to be my second best day of my life, first being the birth of my baby joint with meeting Damon my one and only soul mate!

Damon

 Today has been the best day ever, I thought to myself pulling up into the driveway. My phone starting ringing, gazing down at the ID formed a lump in my throat. Clearing my throat before answering,”hello Damon, how are you and the family?” the bile rose in my throat as Cherelle’s mother spoke. I know everyone believes her story that she was there to protect Sheena but I know better. Knowing that she wanted the exactly the same thing as Sheena’s mother and brother wanted, stupid money and power. ”What do you want? I thought I made it clear the last time we talked, that we wanted nothing more to do with you.” I know I sounded harsh but god this woman is as guilty as everyone else is, they just didn’t have enough evidence. “Just checking up on how Sheena is doing?” she said, I could just see the smirk on her face. It has been like this every week, same old question every time. She just doesn’t seem to get it; I don’t trust her and never will. “Listen if you call or even talk to me again I will have you done for harassment do you under stand?” I said with so much venom I hoped she would die; she hung up the phone but not before saying, “Talk soon”. Slamming the phone against the steering wheel in pure anger and frustration woke Destiny up. Quickly picking Destiny up I started to soothe her hoping she would fall back to sleep, because right now I needed to sort this out once and for all.

 Since the day Sheena was admitted into hospital I have made it very clear to everyone evolved, that I want Sheena completely left out of it. So much has happened that I have been struggling to keep myself together, most nights I cry myself to sleep. However, seeing Sheena today lifted my spirits so high. It made me realise that everything we have been through together has made us both stronger, so much stronger that I think we are going to pull through this.

As soon as I had Destiny settled in her cradle, I got straight back to work. The living room has turned into my office. The sergeant had managed to get me clearance on all the evidence to our case from day one. There were boxes everywhere and although Cherelle and Lee had offered me help, I refused, as I needed to do this myself. Starting from where I left last night, I scattered all the statements Heidi (Cherelle’s mother) had made. Reading them all shocked me; every statement she made was word for word. It was as if she had memorised every word like a play. Why not anyone had noticed this, I thought angrily to myself. If they had, she would be locked up by now. Seven statements where side-by-side on the floor, checking over them again to make sure I was definitely right. The first line read, “I was there to protect Sheena, my sister is a very evil woman, and wont stop until she has got what she wants.” Then scanning over the other six pages they where exactly the same. Grabbing my phone off the floor I quickly called my sergeant. “Sergeant, Can you come over to my house? I have something you need to see.” I asked a little harsher than I meant to, but right now, I was livid that whoever took these statements never notice. As these alone show she’s guilty of something. “Damon is everything alright are you ok?” he asked panicking. “I’m fine I just really need you to see this now please?” I pleaded, as I did not trust anyone one else, well except Lee, nevertheless I needed to go higher then Lee for this. “I’m on my way Damon,” he said before hanging up. I went to the kitchen and grabbed myself a bottle of bear out of the fridge, this is going to be a long night, I thought to myself.

Not even fifteen minutes later, there was a knock on my door, knowing who it was I ran straight to open it. “Thanks for coming but you have to see this,” I said while motioning him towards the front room. As he took a seat on the floor where I was sat only seconds ago he looked down at the papers that where laid out in front of him. I watched as his face went from concerned to pure outrage. Knowing he had noticed it as well, as he pulled his phone out and starting shouting orders left right and centre down the line. He was now beyond pissed, just as I was. With in minutes my house had become the station and the FBI where called in as well as this was there case now. I paced up and down the room as I listened to every word the sergeant was saying; the chief inspector was looking identical to my sergeant. My blood ran cold as I heard them say that Heidi was spotted the other night outside the rehabilitation centre, but when she was approached, she broke down saying how much she needed to see her niece Sheena. However, luckily my men escorted home, where for the remainder of the night she was closely watched.

Feeling confused and more angered than ever before I stormed out of the room; because I knew by staying in there, I was going to do something I would more than likely regret later on.

 Heidi was under court order not to leave the state so at least we knew she was here. Men had been sent out to arrest her because as my sergeant and the chief inspector of the FBI read through the statements they had found something else. However, they wouldn’t tell me as they said they would inform me later on everything as for now I needed to let them do their jobs. Yeah right, if you had both done it properly in the first place we wouldn’t be here right now, I thought to myself.

The night had turned into the morning without even realising it. So much had happened that I was feeling both mentally and physically drained. Picking up my phone, I began to call Alexis, as I knew she was on the early shift today. I have been informing Alexis over the past couple of months on what has been going on and knowing I could trust her, I needed her to cover for me. After asking her to meet me at the front of the hospital to take Destiny, I ran around the house grabbing everything Destiny would need for today. Alexis is going to tell Sheena that I woke up late and was in a rush. As knowing Sheena, she would take one look at me and know something serious was wrong.

One thing I hated more than anything was lying to Sheena, but she has been through so much and I need to take care of this on my own. As I really don’t know, how much more she would be able to take. She’s strong, hell she’s stronger than anyone I know, nevertheless, as strong as she is, she is only human and personally, I think a lot of her strength comes from her blocking everything out. The thing is how long is it before the wall she has built up comes crashing down, that’s what worries the hell out of me.

 The only relief I have right this second is knowing she is safe. With her mother and brother locked up along with most of their associates helps. However knowing damn well, there are more of them out their tortures me so much. When they lock up Heidi that will be one more down and god only knows how many will be left out there. I have been putting a lot of thought about going into witness protection scheme lately, not only for Sheena but for destiny too. The thing is, it would be perfect for us, however, as selfish as this seems leaving my mother behind hurts. As I have always been the one to look out for her. Even though I have been pushing her away from me for the last six months or so, it wasn’t because I didn’t love her, no it was the complete opposite. I love my mother so much and the only way I knew I could keep her safe, was by keeping her at a safe distance. My phone started ringing bringing me out of my inner thoughts. ”Hello” I answered. ”Damon we have her, you where right. We need to talk now.” Sergeant said, well ordered. Before I even had time to reply him he had hung up. Jumping in my car, I made my way downtown to the station. The whole way there I was trying to think of what had gotten the sergeant so worked up, as I could tell by his voice on the phone that he was gone way beyond being angry. Arriving at the station I was shocked to say the least when I seen the crowd outside. In the centre of them all, was the sergeant alongside the chief inspector. Which as soon as they spotted me, they started running towards me, they where surrounded by armed guards. Frozen on the spot, I tried to focus more on my surroundings and that’s when I noticed what was happening.

Sorry it took longer than I thought, but my youngest daughter went away for the first time ever, so emotional :( . I wanted to surprise her by decorating her bedroom.  :) she is a 1 direction mega fan lol she’s home tomorrow that’s why I have made sure to upload today, as tomorrow I am going to hug her and not leave her alone for a second  :) lol
