Chapter Nineteen

It was dark outside and we had been travelling for hours now, however, we still did not know where we were going. Damon had his arm wrapped around me as I rested my head against his shoulder. We hadn’t said much since we left the hospital, but it wasn’t awkward. I guess we were both just tired and the quietness was nice. “How much longer?” I asked the driver.” Not long now, I say we will arrive at our destination in about half an hour” he replied. Turning my gaze to back out the window I felt Damon’s hand hold on to mine.” Are you alright Sheena?” Damon asked, I turned my head so I could look at him, “I’m fine, are you?” I asked. “I couldn’t be better,” he said with a big smile. Pulling me closer into him, he went to placed a kiss onto my cheek but I quickly shifted so his lips landed on mine, making me giggle.

Noticing the driver had stopped the car, I looked out the window. We were stopped right in front of a massive iron gate. I could see a security man walking towards us, feeling nervous I leaned closer into Damon. As the driver opened his window, the security man shone his touch into car, as he looked over at every one of us. My heart started to beat so fast and my hands went all clammy. I kept hold of Damon but also kept my eyes on the security man. The driver handed him some papers and then after checking us once more, the gates opened. My heart started to slow down as the driver started to drive on.

Shifting my gaze from the driver to Damon I could see he was a little on edge as well. “Who was that man?” I asked, “He is just the security why?” he replied. “I don’t know I just didn’t like the look of him,” I said in all honesty. “Well babes your not meant to like him, as his job is to scare people off” he said while laughing. I slapped him playfully while laughing along with him.

Feeling so excited to see Cherelle and Lee, everything else didn’t matter right now. Jumping out of the car, I began running up the steps towards the front door. Even though it was dark out, you could still see that this place was a mansion. The door swung open by an over excited Cherelle, she came running at me and hugged me so tight I couldn’t breathe. ”Cherelle I need air, I can’t breathe” I said mockingly, she loosened her hold on me while giggling. “I thought you would never get here, we have been waiting all day.” She told me as she led me into the house. “WOW” was all I could say, this place was massive and it was all opened planned.

The hallway was huge, with white walls and marble floor, there were also decorative pictures scattered around, and a glass circular table set with a massive bouquet of fresh flowers placed in the centre. “Close your mouth” I heard Cherelle saying while laughing at me. I immediately closed my mouth, “I thought we would have been placed in some small run down place,” I stated. “They told Lee and me earlier, that because they’re not sure how long the case is going to take, that they wanted us to be comfortable”, she explained. “Anyway forget about all of that let me show you both to your room.” She said, but the smirk on her face had me worried. I know I have not known Cherelle for long, but I knew when she was hiding something from me. The only thing was, was I going to like it, I thought to myself. She dragged me up the long curling staircase. There were so many doors on either side of the hallway that I started to ask myself why we would need so many rooms. As if, Damon knew what I was thinking, “All the staff lives here too, so we needed a lot of rooms to take care of them all”. I just stared at him in amazement. “Ah here’s your room,”Cherelle said as she opened the door. There was a four-poster bed standing right in the centre of the room, the furniture carried an old-fashioned theme with the decoration being more up to date. Standing there just taking in my surroundings, It was breath taking, I thought to myself.  Hearing Cherelle ranting on about something or another brought me back to reality. “You and Damon will be sharing, that’s ok though isn’t it Sheena?” she said with a giggle, while wiggling her eyebrows. I tried to stop the blush from rising, I didn’t mind sharing with Damon it was just I wasn’t as open as she was with it. ”Stop teasing her Cherelle” Damon said, as he wrapped me into his chest. I could feel his rumbling as he tried to hide his laughter.

A few hours later, we were all sat in the front room just talking while listening to music. It was lovely, and not one of us talked about our present circumstances, which pleased me. “Sheena; do you want to come for a walk with me?” Damon asked breaking me away from Cherelle going on about her and Lee. Nodding my head yes, he held out his hand   helping me up.

 Picking up our coats, he helped me to put mine on, before putting on his own.  He took hold of my hand and entwined our fingers; making my heart beat so fast. I felt the blush rising on my face, as the warmth of his hand shot tingles through my entire body. I could hear him trying not to laugh, but he was not making a very good job of it. Giving him a playful glare, made him laugh even more. ”Come on let’s go” he said as he led me out of the back door. The cold fresh air hit my face making me shiver; Damon noticed this and wrapped his arm around my body holding me closer to him. I could feel his warmth flowing through me instantly.

Looking at the scenery in front of us, I was shocked to see we were in some sort of cove. Ours was the only house here, and it looked like this place was completely deserted except for the sea. ”Where are we?” I asked, while still taking in my surroundings. “I’m not sure but with us having the highest protection unit looking out for us, I would say we are somewhere far away from civilisation.” He replied. “I never did ask you this, but did you mind leaving, I mean did you mind leaving your friends and family behind?” I asked nervously as knowing it was because of me he had to leave them.

 He cupped my face with his hands and stared straight into my eyes. His gorgeous eyes were sparkling from the glow of the moon.  “No I didn’t, I no this might seem a bit cheesy, but I never did believe in love. As I have never had a real relationship before, don’t get me wrong I dated and went out with girls. However, none of them where special.” He looked away for a minute and then back at me. ”Sheena from the day I met you at the train station, I haven’t been able to get you out of my mind”.” It’s like there was this strong connection between us”.” I don’t know, it was like we were meant to be together, well that’s how it feels to me”.” So no I didn’t mind leaving everyone back home, because deep down it is you I want to be with more than anything and if that means being away from my family and friends then so be it”. The tears where now flowing down my cheeks, as every word he said made my heart flutter. Knowing he was being completely honest with me, I knew what I needed to do. “Damon you weren’t the only one to feel it, as I have felt it from the day I met you too”.” Although it is hard to describe it, but it just feels right, I mean perfect. Its like when I am with you, I feel complete, but when we are apart I feel emptiness, like something is missing.” I replied. He just swept me off my feet and swung me round while smothering me with loads of little kisses.

We walked and talked for hours, as we both played 20 questions, that then led to finding out even more about Each other. I knew I loved him and he loved me, however tonight I realised I did not know that much about him or his past and vice versa. “Come on lets get you back to the house you look cold” he said, “Damon, just a little while longer please?” I pleaded giving him my best puppy dog eyes. “Oh that’s not fair, you can’t keep using those puppy dog eyes on me, and you know I can’t say no to you when you look at me like that”. He replied sounding so defeated, it made me laugh. He then sat straddling on top of me and started to tickle me,”No please stop “I begged in between my laughs. “Well if you promise not to use your puppy dog eyes on me I might stop,” he said teasingly. “No way buddy that is the only thing I have against you” I replied trying to act all serious but underneath I was struggling not to laugh. Hearing a loud bang in the distance grabbed both of ours attention. ”Come on let’s get back, but stay close to me ok, just encase,” he said sternly. I nodded my head feeling frustrated that someone had to go and ruin our moment again. Sighing loudly Damon gave me a questioning look, but I just laughed for being so stupid. Damon then changed his look towards me to confused, which only caused me to laugh more. “Ok share the joke,” he said smirking. ”Well every time we are alone or enjoying our selves some thing or someone always seems to ruin it,” I said feeling irritated. He laughed loudly causing me to get mad at him “what” I asked getting madder by the minute. “Oh Sheena don’t you know by every thing I have told you tonight, we have got the rest of our life’s together, well I guess that is if you will have me?” he asked. My head started to spin as his words repeated them selves over and over inside my head. My mouth opened and closed, I knew what I wanted to say, but I couldn’t manage to make it come out. I just stood there, in pure and utter shock, when another loud bang rang through the place. Making me to come back down to reality “Let’s go, but stay behind me ok?” He said, sternly making me worry even more. I just nodded my head and held onto the back of his coat. I did not make any effort to look in front of him, as I really didn’t want to know what was going on. Although looking to the side of me I noticed loads of red beams glowing in lines everywhere. I could feel my body starting to shake as I started to panic. Damon swung around and flipped me onto the floor with him on top of me. He placed his hand gently over my mouth warning me to be quite, holding my breath I tried not to make a sound.

Hearing them talking I could tell they were getting closer to us, and seeing more beams shinning towards us scared the life out of me. Damon laid beside me while signalling me to move further back into the wall where there were a few trees. I went to get up only to be pulled straight back down, Damon looked panicked. “What” I whispered, he motioned me to crawl along the ground. A snapping of a stick had my heart beating a hundred miles an hour, dragging my shaking body along the ground was hard as I was so scared in case I made a noise that would give us away. Reaching the trees Damon cuddled me close,”well done baby, just keep quite ok?” he whispered. I nodded while gripping on to him. He put his hand under his coat and pulled out his gun, I gasp as I looked at the gun in his hands. Seeing the gun in his hands made me tremble in fear, this is it, we are going to die, I thought to myself. Then he nudged me and went to hand the gun over to me. I shook my head frantically telling him no, my hands began sweating. He then forcefully held out my hand and placed the gun into my hand, I looked up at him with silent tears streaming down my face. I mouthed to him “please don’t make me” the expression on his face made me cry even harder as he looked so worried. “Just in case of an emergency, that’s all” he mouthed back. I felt petrified holding the gun encase it went off in my hand as I was shaking so much. Damon placed his hand on top of mine and lifted my chin up with the other until our eyes locked. “Just stay here and don’t make a sound, I’m just going to take a look around ok?” my blood ran cold thinking of him leaving me here all alone, ”NO” I mouth while shaking my head like mad. He cupped my face with both hands stopping me from having a major panic attack. “I am not going far, I will stay near you, but I need to see what we are up against, please,” he pleaded. As much as I did not want to be left here alone, I knew he had to do this for our safety, I nodded my head. He pressed his lips against mine “love you” he said, “love you too, and don’t be to long please” I replied, he nodded his head and started to crawl out of the trees with his gun in his hands.
