Movin' on Up, to the East Side

There's always a move at the front of the story!

Sure, it makes things easier, you have a clean slate, no need to create already developed relationships, or somehow subtly introduce characters already known to MC, because she has to meet all new people!

I understand. I really, really do.

But the weird thing about me is, I am horrible at developing relationships. I just want a ready-made relationship right there for me to document. So my characters don't usually move.

Except for this one story I made years ago where the girl moves to a SMALL TOWN with her aunt and uncle for the summer, meets new people, and gets a job WAITRESSING at the CAFE in the SMALL TOWN!!!

God I hate myself sometimes.

New school, new house, new life.

Always, always.

Oh, I just remembered another old story where the girl MOVES to a SMALL TOWN with her dad because her mom is DEAD and meets all new people. But to be fair, one of the new people she met could see ghosts, so that twist made up for it, I think.

I don't know, just don't make your character the new kid in town or school. Make them meet the new kid in town/school and befriend them.

Switch it up, folks! *points to self because I'm guilty af*

(Also, do you get the reference in the title?? 😁)
