Part 4
Audrey POV
When Y/N fell asleep, glowing purple apparitions appeared around the boy, all whispering and hissing curses and other things I couldn't quite catch.
The boy tossed and turned, his face showing extreme discomfort. He appeared to be having a violent dream.
Suddenly, he shot out of the bed like a rocket, his shirt and face drenched in sweat, which was odd, considering he'd only been asleep a few minutes.
But for whatever reason, Y/N looked... Older. His cheeks were slightly sunken, and his skin had an unhealthy pallor to it. When he turned to me, his eyes were wild, and there was a sort of desperation in them.
He grabbed my shoulders and began to shake me. "They won't leave! Axyl, they won't stop!!! I paid my dues to them, why won't they go away?!?!?" Y/N cried.
"Y/N, calm down! Dude, it's Audrey!!! Chill!!!" I exclaimed, trying to push the boy away. Despite his unhealthy appearance, he was REALLY strong.
Finally, Y/N relaxed. He looked around wildly, like he didn't know where he was. He rushed over to his suitcase, pulling out ammo boxes, clothes, knives, snacks, and toiletries, and tossing them behind him.
"Where are they, where are they, where are they?!?!?!?" Y/N exclaimed in a frightened whisper.
Finally, he reached in and pulled out a syringe. Without any hesitation, he jammed it into his chest, right over his heart. He pressed down the plunger, and sighed in relief as the more and more of the syringe's contents entered his bloodstream.
The second it was empty, Y/N slowly removed the syringe, his skin resuming its normal shade, his cheeks appearing less sunken. In short, he looked...healthier.
"Oh, well isn't that just fantastic? My roommate is a drug addict." I growled, moving to leave the room before Y/N grabbed my arm.
"Audrey, listen. Don't tell anyone else, OK? It's just my medication." Y/N pleaded. I scoffed.
"Listen here, dude. I came here to get away from that stuff. I will tell Ozpin if you are doing that stuff." I hissed.
"Oh, well I already know, Miss DeLeon. It is, in fact, simply his medicine." Ozpin replied, startling me.
I relaxed, and Y/N let go. Ozpin left, and Y/N sat down on his bed.
"Audrey, I need you to keep this a secret. Please." Y/N begged. I nodded, and he sighed in relief.
After putting a few vials of the stuff on a little belt around his mid-thigh, Y/N and I headed down to the cafeteria for dinner.

3rd POV
"Stupid Cardin and his stupid..." grumbled Jaune as he passed Y/N. Thinking nothing of it, Y/N continued on his quest for food.
Voices began whispering in Y/N's head once more, but he shoved them to the back of his mind, screaming for them to be silent. Within his mind, the voices ceased, and Y/N opened his eyes, and managed to run straight into Cardin Winchester and his team.
"Hey, would you look at that? We were just looking for a little freak." Cardin sneered. Y/N smiled at Cardin, then attempted to turn away.
"I'll be on my way, gentlemen. I just wanna get my food and get gone." Y/N said, a forced smile on his face. Cardin and his team laughed.
One of Cardin's teammates grabbed Y/N's medication and held it aloft, a smug grin on his face. Y/N went pale.
"Give that back," He hissed, trying to keep his semblance under control.
Cardin smirked and shoved Y/N backward, feeling Y/N's chest harden in response to the unwelcome touch. A look of disgust crossed Cardin's face when he felt it, and the boy wiped his hand on Lark's shoulder.
"You...will..." Y/N growled, his face hidden by his hand.
Cardin laughed. "I will what, freakazoid?"
Y/N's head snapped upward, revealing that most of the flesh had either fallen away, or was in the final stages of decay. One of his eyes fell out, and the other's eyelids no longer functioned. Cardin stumbled backward.
"GIVE THEM BACK!!!!!!" Y/N shouted, his voice very different than it had been moments ago.
Lark dropped the vials and bolted, the rest of Team CRDL following his example.
Y/N sat down on the floor, struggling to breathe properly. He heard someone, probably female, shrieking something about Y/N's appearance, but his hearing had suffered as well as his eyesight, so he couldn't identify the person by their voice or appearance.
Suddenly, a strong hand clamped down on Y/N's shoulder, forcing him to turn and look at the person. He heard a soft gasp, and the person's grip slackened slightly. Remembering that he was in a cafeteria full of people, Y/N sprung up, grabbed his abandoned eye from the floor, and rushed out of the room, yanking a hood over his head and locking himself in his room.
After a few hours, when his sight and hearing returned, Y/N peeked at himself in a mirror. What he saw made him cringe slightly.
His face was a patchwork of decayed flesh, which would fall off soon, and the new flesh that was steadily growing.
Y/N sighed and crawled into bed, ignoring the rumbling hunger in his belly. He tried his hardest to fall asleep, but the voices in his head, the scratchy feeling of new skin and flesh growing, the thunder and lightning outside, and the gnawing hunger in his stomach made it almost impossible.
Y/N rolled out of bed, and opened the door, expecting an empty hallway. To his surprise,Pyrrha was asleep by the door, a blanket having been placed on her, and Omelette sleeping in her lap. Apparently having heard the door open, Pyrrha slowly woke up, and rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
When she looked at Y/N, the boy hurriedly backed up and slammed the door shut.
"W-wait! Y/N, please come out! I didn't mean to frighten you!" Pyrrha pleaded. The doorknob jiggled as Pyrrha attempted to open it, and Y/N slammed his shoulder into the door to keep it shut. As it was, Pyrrha turned out to be stronger than Y/N, and when she shoved the door open, Y/N fell to the floor.
"Oh, Y/N! I'm so sorry! Let me help you up-" Pyrrha began, reaching for the boy on the floor.
Y/N slapped her hand away, and reached for his large comforter, wrapping himself up in the large blanket like he was a burrito, which effectively obscured his face.
"Y/N, what are you hiding from me? From all of us? All we saw was Cardin's team running away from you, and when Yang grabbed your shoulder, you ran. Yang looked frightened, but wouldn't tell us what she saw. Is everything alright, Y/N? Did they hurt you?" Pyrrha asked, concern evident in her tone.
The good half of Y/N's face had exited the blanket cover, and was now bathed in moonlight. Pyrrha sighed in relief when she saw that Y/N was unhurt. As she stood to leave, a flash of lighting outside illuminated everything in the room.
Including Y/N's ruined face.
Pyrrha stumbled backward, and Y/N scooted backward, covering his face with the blanket.
"D-did they do that to you, Y/N?" Pyrrha asked shakily. There was fear in her voice, but also faint hints of anger.
"No," Y/N answered. "It's a side effect of my semblance. Have you ever heard of 'living on borrowed time', Pyrrha?"
Pyrrha nodded. Y/N heard a small sniffle, and when he looked up, he saw tears filling the Invincible Spartan's eyes.
"I'm living on borrowed time. I steal years from other people, and add them to my life. If I didn't, I wouldn't have made it past ten years old." Y/N whispered. "I'm probably going to die soon. Using my semblance like I have been has shortened my life."
Pyrrha felt a tear slide down her cheek, and she held out her hand.
"I-if you need more time, take some from me. I have plenty of it." Pyrrha whispered, feeling her whole body tremble.
Y/N stared at the outstretched hand, then glanced at Pyrrha.
"Are you sure?" Y/N asked seriously.
Pyrrha nodded.
"You don't want this. I know you don't," Y/N replied in a low voice. Pyrrha opened her mouth to object, but Y/N continued.
"Do you want to become one of the souls within me? When I take your aura, you may die. And then, your soul will merge with mine, and you will just be another soul, screaming in agony, and wanting a death that can never come. Is that what you want?" Y/N asked.
Pyrrha retracted her hand.
"I thought not." Y/N replied.
Y/N closed his eyes, expecting Pyrrha to leave, but instead felt warmth envelop him. He stiffened, and Pyrrha let go.
"I-I'm so sorry, Y/N! I don't know what came over me, I just-" Pyrrha stammered, trying to justify her actions.
Instead, Y/N squirmed his way over to Pyrrha, and curled up beside her.
"You're warm..." Y/N said sleepily. "I haven't been warm in a long time..."
Pyrrha blushed, though Y/N couldn't see her, and she wrapped her arms around him once again, receiving a content sigh before Y/N finally fell asleep. Pyrrha gently tugged her fingers through Y/N's surprisingly soft hair, causing the boy to let out small sounds of content, and snuggle closer to Pyrrha. Eventually, Pyrrha fell asleep, her fingers still in Y/N's hair, and her arm draped over the boy.
