Never Free From The Past

I'm going to be making a long chapter this time. It kind of veers away from Fnaf for a bit, but I promise that this is still a Fnaf, Markiplier, and Jackcepticeye fan fiction. Also the POV will be going back and forth a lot. I hope you guys enjoy!

I tossed and turned in bed, trying to forget the eyes of the animatronics. I felt like they were trying to see into my soul. Getting tired of attempting to sleep, I slid out of bed and peeked into the living room. Mark was sleeping soundly on the couch, his arm dangling off the side. I smiled and donned my work uniform. Before I left, I scribbled a quick note for Mark and stuck it on the fridge. I slipped a purple hoodie over my head and got into my car to drive off to work. Whenever I got there, I unlocked the door with the brass key. Immediately I wanted to turn back whenever I saw the animatronics standing onstage. Warily, I approached them to see if they were active. They were. The bear's arm shot up and he wrapped his furry brown paw around my throat. I coughed and struggled for breath. The bunny kicked me and the duck thing scratched me with its beak. I lashed out towards the animatronics, but they didn't stop. They kept attacking me. Black spots danced in my vision. Abruptly, I dropped to the wooden stage floor. I gasped for breath and scrambled off the stage. The animatronics froze in place. Behind me, the doors burst open and children came barging in, screaming in joy. I coughed and limped over to the cash register. The bunny had bruised my leg and the duck thing left a long gash in my hoodie. I removed it so the children didn't ask about it. "Mister, what's your name?" A little Irish girl about the age of six was standing in front of the register, nervously twirling her long brown hair around her finger. I smirked and knelt down so I was eye level with her. "My name is Sean, but you can call me Jack." "I-I'm Emily." She stuttered. "Um, can I have some tokens?" She politely inquired as she retrieved a wad of money from her jeans pocket. I nodded and dug out a handful of tokens from behind the counter. "How much-" "Totally free Emily. You're a good kid. You'll keep this as our little secret?" I questioned. "I pinkie promise." She raised her pinkie up. I wrapped my long, pale pinkie around her small one. She shyly smiled back and gave me a big hug. "Thanks." She whispered in my ear.  "Now go have fun." I  removed her from my arms and gently nudged her towards the games that were located beside the stage. There was only a Pac-Man machine, Wreck-It-Ralph, and two ski ball machines. She giggled and skipped to the games. I watched her leave and turned back to the other customers.

"Jack!" I shouted as I stumbled through the halls, still very tired. No response. I sighed and clicked on my phone. It was six in the morning. "He's probably at work." I assured myself as I walked into the kitchen to look for breakfast. I abruptly froze in the doorway. "His work starts at six in the evening." I immediately called Jack's phone. No answer. My panic level was rising steadily. I called his phone again. Still no response. "Calm down Mark, just think. If I were an Irish YouTuber, where would I go?" I muttered to myself as I opened the fridge. A piece of paper floated to the ground in front of my bare feet. I closed the fridge door and picked up the paper. "Hey Mark, I got a call last night that my times changed. I'm going to be working from 6AM-midnight. Talk to you as soon as I can, Jacky boy." I read aloud, then placed the paper on the kitchen table. "Ugh, we won't be able to hang out at all." I groaned. "I'm probably gonna ask if I can quit whenever I go to work tonight." I flopped back down on the couch and turned on Jack's PS3. "At least I can make a video." I shrugged and began setting up my recording gear.

I sighed in relief as all of the kids ran to the stage to listen to the animatronics song. "Hi kids, my name is Freddy Fazbear, and these are my friends, Bonnie Bunny," He gestured at the bunny who strummed his red guitar in response. "And Chica Chicken." Chica squawked happily and flapped her wings."We're gonna sing a song dedicated to our newest member of our family, Jack Mcloughlin!" The kids cheered. Emily stood up from where she was sitting and ran up to me. "Sit with me!" She begged as she gently tugged the sleeve of my black t-shirt. "Sure." I grinned as I followed her back to where she was sitting. I felt like a giant among all of these small children. "Too bad Foxy couldn't sing his pirate song for you. You would've liked it." She sat down with her legs crossed. I opened my mouth to ask who Foxy was, but was interrupted by the animatronics beginning their song. "Welcome to the Fazbear crew, you're one of us now, I don't know how, we would work without you, we care about you, and we hope you care for us too, so please sing with us, as we re-start chorus..." I couldn't help but sing along to their catchy tune. Several kids joined in too. When the song ended, I was beaming from ear to ear as kids swarmed around me and gave me hugs. Emily remained by my side the entire time, clutching my arm protectively. Eventually, all of the kids left one by one to go back to eating pizza or playing games. Except for Emily. I chuckled as I gingerly pried her fingers off my arm. Her fingers left a red mark on my pale skin. "Will you play with me? Please?" Emily pleaded. Her vibrant green eyes stared into mine. I wanted to say yes, but I had work to do. "I'm sorry, I have work." I informed her. "I'll work with you!" She exclaimed cheerfully and followed me to behind the counter. Why does this girl feel so special to me? I wondered as I watched her examine the toys that hung on the wall. She suddenly squealed and pointed at something that was far up on the wall. She was pointing at a Freddy plushy. I was surprised to see that it was the only one on the shelf. "Do you have enough tickets?" I reached up and grabbed the Freddy toy. She laid all of her tickets out on the counter. I counted them out. She was ten short. I ignored the fact that ten was missing and handed her the toy. "You have enough." I grinned. Emily gasped and held the toy close to her chest. "Thank you Mr. McLoughlin!" "You can call me Jack...I also go by Bossitronio of the planet Bossatron." I teased her. She giggled in response. "Okay Bossitronio, since you have a cool nickname, I want one too." She paused. "What about Bitty Mcboss?" I suggested. It was the name of one of my Sims on Sims four, but the name seemed to suit her. "Yeah!" She clapped her hands together excitedly. I checked the time on my phone. Four hours before closing. From the office, I could hear the phone ringing. I darted over to the phone to answer it. "Hello?" "Hey, go ahead and go home early if not very many people is still there, okay?" Scott said. "Got it." The call ended with a click. I shrugged and went back to the stage area. Everyone else had already left. It was just Emily, another woman, and I. "Excuse me, Mr..." She trailed off so I could tell her my name. Emily answered first. "His name is Bossitronio, from the planet Bossitron!" I chuckled at the woman's confused expression. "It's not my real name." I assured her. "My name is Sean Mcloughlin, but you can call me Jack." I introduced myself with a wave of my gray knit hat. "It's nice to meet you." She blushed. "My name's Signe Hansen." Her accent was subtle, and I could tell it wasn't from the UK area. "Where are you from? Not to be rude or anything," Now I was blushing. Why was I so nervous around her? What was wrong with me today? She laughed quietly, which sounded like music to my ears. "I'm from Denmark. I'm Danish." She smiled at me and I smiled back. "Do we have to leave?" Emily whined. "Sorry Bitty Mcboss," I bent down and gave her one last hug. "Boss's order." "I'll see you tomorrow?" Emily asked. "Of course." I promised. "Where are your parents?" I stood up and scanned the barren pizza place. No one else was here. "My parents..." She swallowed as tears welled up in her eyes. "They died in a car crash a year ago." She whispered as the tears spilled down her cheeks and dropped to the floor. "I'm so sorry." I apologized sincerely as I bent down on one knee so I could be eye level with her. "Me too." Emily hiccuped and wiped away her tears with her arm. Signe was awkwardly standing to the side, watching us with a worried expression. "Do you have some sort of guardian?" I inquired. Emily sniffled. "My aunty Linda, but she doesn't love me, she just drinks and shouts at me...so I ran here, the last place I was happy at with my mommy and daddy. Please don't make me go back!" Emily wailed and buried her face in my chest. Without hesitation, I said "You can stay with me." "Really?" She sniffed. I nodded and lifted her onto my shoulders. "It was nice meeting you Miss-" "Signe. You can call me Signe." Signe smiled as she pressed a piece of paper in my hands. "Talk later, okay?" I nodded as she left. The paper she gave me had a neatly written phone number. "Giddy up Bossitronio!" She squealed. I made a horse sound and galloped to my car, grinning the entire way.

"Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go," I sang to myself as I put on my night guard uniform, which included black pants, black shoes, a navy blue jacket, a black cap, and my shiny gold badge. From the living room, I heard the door open and...a Irish girl screaming? I ran down the hallway into the living room and nearly knocked Jack over. On top of his shoulders was a young girl with a pale blue t-shirt and denim jeans. "Um, Jack-" "His name is Bossitronio from the planet Bossitron." The little girl interrupted. "Why did you bring a kid home with you? And please don't say that she ran away from home so you took her in." Jack opened his mouth to speak, then promptly closed it again. "She ran away from her parents and you're fine with that?!?" I shouted. "No, she ran away because her parents are dead and her aunt is a drunk!" Jack protested. His normally humor filled blue eyes were burning with anger and determination. I sighed and sunk down onto the couch. "Look man, she has to go back to her family." "No! Don't make go back, please!" The girl begged. Jack carefully lifted her off of his shoulders and sat her down on his lap. "Mark, say we take her home, what if her aunt beats her? I wouldn't be able to live with myself." Jack argued. "What if we go to her house and see what her aunt is like?" I suggested. "Okay." Jack replied reluctantly. He lifted her into his arms and carried her like a baby to his car. "What's the address?" Jack sat the girl in the backseat an climbed into the driver's side. "The house right in front of yours." She said. "Oh." Jack and I looked at the house. It was an ugly brown color with a tan roof. The grass was long and yellow like it was never mowed before. There wasn't a very big front yard or back yard. "Lets go then." Jack helped the child out of the car and followed her to the door. I noticed he was limping slightly. "Jack, are you okay?" He mouthed "I'll tell you later" and continued following the girl. "Hey, what's your name?" I inquired. "Bitty Mcboss, but you can call me Emily." She stated. "Mark, but I also answer to Markiplier." She giggled at my name. "Markiplier...I like it." Whenever we got to the door, I could smell cigarette smoke and vomit. Hesitantly, I knocked on the door. Immediately it opened up to reveal a woman in her seventies with graying, long black hair. Her face was covered in wrinkles and in her gnarled, bony hand she held a bottle of red champagne that was halfway empty. She was dressed in only a white fleece robe. "Hi, um, my name is Sean-" Jack began. "Don't care who the hell you are. I'm Linda Herring. Brat, come here." The woman slurred. "No!" Emily cried and clung to my leg. "No?" The woman roared. She reached for Emily, but Jack jumped in front of her. "Don't you dare hurt her!" Jack growled. "Fine! I won't hurt her...yet." Linda pounced on top of Jack, knocking him down to the cement sidewalk and smacked him in the head with the champagne bottle. Jack yelled and struggled to get her off, but she continued hitting him until he was unconscious. Emily screamed for her to stop, but she didn't listen. I pried Emily off of my leg and yanked Linda off of Jack. He had a long gash running down his face, his right eye swollen, and a large lump on his forehead. His lip was also cut and bleeding. Linda had no scratches on her. "You need to teach your friend to fight better....he didn't hit me even once." She panted. I called 911 and checked Jack's vitals. His pulse was weak, but still there and his heart was beating slower by the second. "Jack!" Emily sobbed and fell on her knees by his side. Linda reached for her but I smacked her hand away. "Stay away from her!" I hissed. "Mark?" Jack coughed, blood dribbling down his chin and onto his black t-shirt. "Hey, I'm right here." I ripped part off my shirt off and used it to stop the blood flow. "Take care of Emily, please-" Jack coughed up more blood and slipped back into unconsciousness. "I will." I promised him, even though I knew he probably wouldn't hear. In the distance, I could hear police and ambulance sirens growing louder by the minute. "I need to hide!" Emily tugged on my arm. "The police will take me to foster care, and I don't want to leave Jack." I didn't even argue. I made a promise to take care of Emily, and I was determined to keep that promise. No matter what. "Go inside and hide under the bed, I'll tell you when it's safe again." Emily nodded and darted inside just before the police and ambulance pulled up. Medics carefully rolled Jack onto a stretcher and put him in the back of the ambulance. Once the ambulance drove away, one of the officers approached me. "Excuse me sir, but can you tell me what happened?"

"He's waking up! Go ahead and bring in his friends." A man shouted close to my face. I groaned and cracked my eyes open. Mark and Emily were standing in the doorway of the room. The doctor and nurses left the room quickly. Everything around me was white and smelled of cleaning detergent. "Bossitronio!" Emily ran up to me and threw her arms around my neck. I ignored the pain and smirked. I shifted to a sitting position so Mark and Emily could sit on the end of my bed. "How long was I out?" "About one and a half hours." Mark informed me as he sat down. "And how are you Bitty Mcboss?" I ruffled her hair. She giggled in response. "Markimoo and I made a video, ate at McDonald's, and went back to your place to play Mario!" I chuckled and looked over at Mark. His chocolate brown eyes shone with concern. "Okay Mr. Loughlin, the person that attacked you is in jail for three years for abusing a child and attacking you. As far as your injuries, we had to give you stitches on your face and had to fix your dislocated shoulder. Your leg was also badly bruised too. We're going ahead and letting you go, but be careful." The doctor stated as he re-entered the room. I sighed in relief as the doctor handed me papers to sign

~Mark (time skip to midnight)

"Hello? Hello hello?" The recording I heard the first time I came to the office started over again. I muted the call and leaned back in my chair. In the hallway, I heard someone whistling and the sweeping of a broom. "Hey Mark!" Jack waved with a broom clutched in his right hand. "You're also the janitor?" I exclaimed incredulously. "Yep, just got a call that they needed someone to be janitor since no one took the job. Anyway, good luck with your job!" Jack started to sweep again. "Hey, where's Emily?" I asked. "I left her at home with some Taco Bell and showed her how to use the PS3 and t.v." Jack assured me. "Alright." I rolled my chair over to the computer and flipped through the cameras. Nothing unusual...except that the bunny wasn't on stage. I scanned all of the cameras carefully and finally found him in the room with the stage. "Party room." I read aloud the camera name. From the left door, I heard footsteps approach. "Hey Jack-" I stuck my head through the doorway. It was the animatronic bunny. It reached out towards me, but I quickly ducked back inside the office and closed the door. "I hope Jack's okay." I used the black phone sitting on my desk to call him.

~Jack

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket as I put my broom back in storage. "Mark?" I answered the phone. "Jack, you need to be careful-" I turned around and gasped as I dropped my phone. It clattered on the black and white tiled floor. In front of me was Bonnie. I shouted in surprise and took a step back, accidentally crushing my phone. Bonnie moved closer to me outstretched. I tried to step back more, but I was trapped in a corner. I closed my eyes tightly, expecting Bonnie to attack me again. Instead, he wrapped his arms around me and gave me a gentle hug. I opened my eyes a crack. Bonnie stepped away from me. I relaxed slightly and moved forward. "I'm sorry." Bonnie apologized. "It's okay-wait, you can talk?" I questioned. He nodded and sat down on the floor. I sat close by his side, my hands in my lap. "I saw purple, and I thought you were him-" "Him who?" I cut him off. Bonnie took a deep breath like he was telling a story. "Long ago, in 1985, I came here as a seven year old to play with friends, but this man, he came to us in a Golden Freddy suit, so we assumed he was a mascot...he wasn't. He took me and my three friends to storage. He took off the suit and he was wearing all purple. He killed Felix first, then Charlotte, myself, and I guess he killed Frank last." Bonnie stopped and shook his head side to side. I could hear the gears in his neck and head whir. "Then two years later, Frank's brother, Mike, came back here for his seventh birthday. Felix got do jealous when he saw Mike standing there, still alive, so he...bit off Mike's frontal lobe." "Wait, how do you know this?" I frowned. "Because my name is Brad, and I was one of the four children stabbed through the gut on August 25th, 1985. The killer, or as I call him purple guy, hid each of the bodies in a suit. Charlotte is Chica, Frank is Freddy, and Felix is Foxy." I remained silent for a moment to soak all of the information in. "Who is Foxy?" I inquired. Suddenly, a crimson streak dashed down the hall beside me and ran towards the office. "That's Foxy. Might want to check on the night guard." Bonnie stood back up and patted my back. "We'll talk later." With that, he walked back to the stage. I ran after the streak and found him pounding on Mark's door.

~Mark

On the phone, Jack screamed and the call abruptly ended. "Jack? Jack?!?" I shouted. No answer. "Keep calm, he's fine." I mumbled, but I couldn't make myself believe that. Whenever I finally got the courage to make sure Jack was alright, I stepped out of the office. As soon as I did, I saw something crimson running towards me. I yelped and went back inside, closing the door behind me. I checked my power bar. Only 29%. It must've been from looking at the cameras too much or something. "Go away!" I shouted as something banged on the door. After a while, it thankfully left. I re-opened the door and found Jack standing there, breathing heavily. "Hey, we need to talk." He panted. I sat down in the chair and Jack leaned against the desk. "So," He began. Jack told me a story about how four kids came here in 1985 and died, how two years later a kid had his frontal lobe bitten off, and that the animatronics were the dead kid's spirits. I listened the entire time, occasionally checking the power bar and cameras. "Okay." That was the only thing I said once Jack finished his tale. "You believe me?" Jack replied incredulously. "You're my friend, of course I believe you." I shrugged. Jack suddenly froze, his eyes glued to the window to the right. I followed his gaze and hit the light button. "Um, Jack?" "Don't worry, it's Chica. She's a chicken." Jack informed me casually. Chica stepped inside the office, followed by Bonnie. "Hi Mark and Jack!" Chica squawked happily. I awkwardly waved hello. "Hey Charlotte and Brad!" Jack exclaimed. Abruptly, the lights went out with a boom, leaving everyone in darkness. From the left door, I could hear music playing. I hesitantly turned to see what it was. Freddy was standing in the doorway, his eyes flashing white. "I recognize that tune, it's the one you guys used to sing your song to me!" Jack whispered in my ear. Freddy's eyes stopped flashing and the music died. I dared to look at the time. Six in the morning. I sighed in relief as the lights turned back on. "See you guys later." Bonnie and Chica left. "Sorry, I thought the song would make you calm whenever the lights went out." Freddy smiled sheepishly, then followed Bonnie and Chica to the stage. "Bye Jack, good luck at work! I'll bring Emily down here." I stood up and gave Jack a quick hug. "See ya!" Jack smiled and waved goodbye. I watched him walk over to the cash register that already had large groups of kids crowding around it. Whenever I drove away, I looked back at the building. "Don't give up, don't give in," I muttered as I drove home to pick up Emily and get some coffee for Jack and I.
