Riku be like a cupid and Angel Tenn friendship LEVEL UP. Devil Tenn sudden appearance- FRIENDSHIP LEVEL UP- Wait... Something happened to Tenn?

Since when Tenn wear glasses?

That's the first thing that came to Gaku's mind when he stepped his feet in Tenn's room. The pale pink haired guy was reading a.. from that cover... It's a light novel? He never really try to read one actually. The only book he read usually some recommendations by Tsumugi. He heard that light novel are much easier to read because the text contains much simpler and easier modern kanji. Also, it's much shorter than the usual novel.

Tenn look up from his book and gave Gaku that bright smile with a small wave. Okay. Definitely not Tenn. Gaku knew that smile. Gaku pulled a chair out and sat beside the bed. "You're Riku right?"

"Yep yep! Red Phoenix Riku's here ready for anything!" While doing some weird pose. Saw that look from Gaku, Riku rubbed his back neck as he let out an awkward laugh. "Sorry, I like hero. I always want to do hero thing!"

"Nice hobby I guess."

"Why that sound like a sarcasm.." Riku sweat dropped but quickly shook his head as he beamed Gaku a grin. He showed Gaku the book he read earlier. "Look Gaku! I like this book! Kaa-san gave me this yesterday. 'At Night, I Become a Monster' by Yoru Sumino, you should read this! It's the same person who wrote 'I Want to Eat Your Pankreas'! It's about-"

Tenn's mother visit him yesterday. Gaku actually didn't know how often she visit his son. Gaku also can't visit Tenn often because how busy he was with all idol thing. Gaku leaned on the bed, placed his hand on his chin as he listened Riku talk about that book. Something about some guy that turn into monster at night meet with a girl being bullied bla bla bla wait. That actually sounds interesting. Maybe he will check it out later. He remembered that Tenn with blank eyes. He was hoping to meet with that guy today but now that Riku's here. Oh well.. He wonder why though..

"I'm here because Tenn-nii was in pain."

What the f- Why everyone suddenly could read his mind lately?! Argh! Hell with that! He need to confirm something first. "Which Tenn are you talking about...?"

"Tenn-nii!" Riku. That smile-

"That still didn't answer my question." Gaku deadpanned.

"Eehh... I tell you. It's Tenn-nii." Why was he pouting now?!

"I don't know which Tenn-nii you're talking about!!"

Riku formed a fist and placed it on his palm. "Ah! I understand!"

"What you understand. I don't understand."

"You're close with Tenn! Not Tenn-nii!"

"Huh? There's difference?"

"Dunno."

"Don't make it more confusing!!!"

"Mou! I'm trying my best here! Tenn is an alter created by Tenn-nii! Satisfied?"

Oh yeah... Both of them have the same name. Wait. Now he confused. "Why... They have the same name?"

Riku hummed. "Tenn didn't have name. He gradually took the name Tenn as he keeps take over more than Tenn-nii. Tenn-nii.. have been hiding a lot so Tenn take care of it. I actually don't want to come out again. I promise myself that but I have to before Tenn-nii...."

Before he what? Gaku wait for Riku to continue but it seemed he won't get the answer. Riku Riku suddenly got quiet as if he was in his own thought. Okay then. Both of them are Tenn.. So for now he will call the Tenn he first meet Devil Tenn while the Tenn he met last time Angel Tenn! Gaku thought proudly as Riku unaware of Gaku thought. Gaku mentally shook his head and go to his thinking mode. So from what Riku said, Angel Tenn have been hiding as Devil Tenn slowly become the host.

"But mou! That Tenn! Why do I have to do it! He can do it since he basically kinda like the master of this body!" Gaku almost jump out of his sit when Riku yelled out of nowhere. Goodness. What's wrong with this guy!? Riku noticed that his action startled Gaku. He awkwardly laughed. "Haha.. sorry."

"I-It's okay..."

Then, more silence.

Gaku mentally scolded himself again. Since when he become this awkward?! He really didn't know what to say! Thankfully, Riku break the ice.

"Do you want to meet him again? Tenn-nii I mean."

Gaku looked at Riku, flabbergasted. This is not the break ice he thought.

Gaku agape as his eyes met with a pair of dull eyes. No way Riku can do that. Angel Tenn also seemed in daze, looking around as if he was in a new place. His eyes slowly wandered to the book he held. He muttered the title. That manage to make Gaku break from his shock state. He moved his chair near Tenn and tried his best to be as gentle as he can.

"I heard that book actually interesting." Gaku said while his eyes gazed at the cover book. Tenn looked up from the book and stared at Gaku, still in daze.

"...... Gaku...."

Gaku mentally punch his fist on air while in reality, he smiled softly. "Glad that you still remember me."

Tenn nodded, shifted back his gaze toward the book in his hands. "You're Gaku. Kaa-san told me you've been visiting me for awhile. You said we're friends. Is that why you visit me?" Redirected his eyes toward Gaku, he clenched the book he held.

"Of course it is, you dummy."

The hands on the book loosen a bit. 

"Even if you aren't my friend, I'll still visit you. I don't care about you being weird! Even I'm weird too!" Gaku pointed his thumb at himself.

'He said it so proudly....'

"That's why I won't be like those people. You're an interesting person and I want to be your friend. I understand how it feels actually. I came from a divorced family and people talk behind my back just because of that fact." His smile falter a bit when he thought back about it. They shouldn't make fun of someone's family. Family was everything. They shouldn't make fun of it.

"I'm sorry..."

He didn't know if Tenn apologized because he talked about his past or it's because of something else. Though, Tenn had nothing to apologize for. "Why are you apologize for? You didn't do anything wrong. I'm the one who suddenly talk about it. Promise me, we'll always be friends. Okay?" Gaku held out his pinky finger at Tenn. Tenn stared puzzledly before he blinked as he understood what that action mean. He raised his hand, held out his pinky finger. Gaku noted that Tenn's hand was shaking. That's.. concerning. Maybe he should avoid any physical contact.

The pinkies locked with each other. "...Un. Okay."

With the same book sat on his lap, he opened to the first page. His eyes seemed to be direct at the page but his mind was somewhere else. Tenn thought about what Gaku said before he left.

"Do you remember what I said when we first meet? Just talk to me. It will make you feel better. You don't have to if you don't know what to say."

He dropped his head a bit, covered his eyes by his bangs. He didn't seem in a state to read as he closed the book, kept thinking about that words. He softly mumbled to himself. "You're my friend right? What would you do if I say I want to disappear?" His fingers twitched and griped his arms tightly that it will leave some wounds on his arms.

"It's hurt. Living like this is hurt. It's better to disappear rather than living. But...." Image of Gaku with a smile flashed in his mind. He immediately stopped from griping his arms, leaving the wounds like that as blood slowly flowed from the wounds. A small blood dropped on the cover book on his lap. He shut his eyes tightly. It's hurt...

The next day Gaku visit, to put simply, he shocked. Gaku saw the bandage on Tenn's arms. He held Tenn's shoulders, too much aggressive to his like but he couldn't help it. Yesterday, there's no wound on Tenn's arms so how that brat got that wound in a day?!

"How did this happened?!"

He didn't realize that his grips on Tenn getting tighter. Tenn suddenly yelled, shocked him with how loud Tenn's voice was.

"Don't touch me!!"

Gaku immediately released his hands and froze. Tenn's whole body was shaking and looked at Gaku with.. fear. Shit. He forgot about Tenn with physical contact. Before he could open his mouth, Tenn gave him a nonstop apologies.

"Aah... I-I'm sorry. I-I don't-"

Gaku stopped Tenn's stammering by called Tenn's name softly before the anxiety could take over Tenn. Tenn shut his mouth, only stared at Gaku as he tried to control his breathlessness breath. Gaku inhale and exhale, he put up a brave persona up as he smile. God, he never thought he will actually see Tenn like this again. He hated how scared Tenn look right now. Who cared if this was not the Tenn he knew. Tenn is Tenn. Tenn didn't deserve to go through such a traumatic thing.

"I-is it okay if I hug you?" Gaku asked with a hint of blush on his cheeks.

Tenn didn't have enough time to think as he nodded, then his whole body surrounded with warmth. Gaku muttered to his ears to listen to Gaku's stable breath and try to follow the breath. So he did. His breath gradually became stable. He didn't know how long he had laid his head on Gaku's chest. He almost fell asleep but Gaku's voice threw those sleepiness away.

"I'm your friend. I promise I won't do those bad things to you. You know that right?"

Yeah, he knew that. He knew that but-

"It's okay to feel scared. You're just a human. That's a normal feeling for us. That's why we have to get over that fear. I come from a divorced family, of course I know how it feel to lost someone precious but unlike you, I can keeps visiting my mother's family often. Talk with them. Laugh with them. So I understand why you did that. Though, I don't agree with how you handle your grief. Remember what I told you? Just talk to me."

Gaku stopped there because he didn't know what else to put. Did that sound too cheesy? Or is it too dramatic? God, Tenn don't keep quiet like that, he would think that he said something wrong if Tenn don't say anything!

"........ It's hurt..."

What's hurt?! Mentally or physically?! Don't just threw that words at him like that! He will be more panic y'know!

"I don't know but it's hurt. I don't remember when I was with them. I don't remember when Riku... When Riku.... I don't remember... I don't want to remember. But when I did, it's hurt so much. I don't know what I remember but it's so painful. It's so painful that... I just want to end it." Gaku could hear Tenn panted after those words escaped from Tenn's lips. Tenn never really talk about his feeling so it must be exhaust for him. Gaku could only hummed because how the heck should he respond to that?! But really, he really appreciate that Tenn actually open up with him.

Something gripped his back (Since when Tenn hug him back) tightly. Well, not that tight that it's hurt. Just a gesture of fear of something. "Tenn..." He tried to look at Tenn but Tenn still hide his face on Gaku's chest. (Yes, this is definitely not romantically. WHY-)

"Please stay here. Don't leave me."

...... There's no way Gaku will deny such a request. "I won't." Tenn didn't respond but Gaku took it as a positive answer.

"You're an idol right...? Can.. you sing for me? Something like lullaby..."

Gaku don't really sing a lullaby. But since its Tenn...

"Sure."

So Gaku sang. He didn't know how long they stayed like that but sure long enough to even make Tenn fell asleep. He stopped singing when realized that Tenn already in a deep sleep. Tenn look so peaceful for someone who had a panic attack earlier.

Gaku slowly place Tenn on bed. He looked at his phone. Huh. Few more minutes before visiting hours end. He can go back home if he want but he did say that he won't leave Tenn. Okay, he will stay until visiting hours end. So, he wasted his time on his phone since he didn't have any book with him at the moment.

Just when he was relaxing by looked through his media social, something or someone pinched his thigh, painfully.

"ITTE?! WHO-" Pair of cat-like eyes stare at him, with a frown directed to him. He gasped. Don't tell him... That's...

"Devil Tenn?!"

"HUH? What do you mean by 'Devil Tenn'?" Tenn's eyebrows twitched as he smiled like an angel even if it's fake.

Gaku's lips turned into a grin. He's Devil Tenn! The painful pinch forgotten as he shook his head. "N-nothing! I- You haven't come out for awhile! I thought something happened!"

Tenn's smile faded away, replaced by his usual neutral face. "Oh, about that. I did it on purpose."

What the heck does he by 'on purpose'?! Urgh... Gaku will ask him later. "Tenn.... was asleep and you came out? Is that normal?" Sorry. Gaku really curious about this switching thing.

Tenn stared at him, half lidded as Tenn placed his chin on his hand. "Sometimes. I don't really like to take over when he asleep. This body need rest after all. Also! Nice speech earlier. You has a nice voice too." Tenn gave Gaku a thumbs up with a mischievous smile on his face.

A tint of red appeared on Gaku's cheeks as he stammered. "Wha- H-how?!"

"I think I experienced co-conscious."

"What's that?"

"Something like more than one Alter has some awareness at a time. I guess."

"That's a thing?!"

"Remember the blackout I mentioned? That what usually happen whenever someone else take over this body. DID existence is confusing y'know. Why am I talking to you about this?"

"Why are you asking me... Even I don't know..."

Then, silence. Both of them avoid looking at each other awkwardly. Tenn couldn't stand the silence, he clutched his blanket.

"Are you.... really worried about me?"

Gaku stared at Tenn ridiculously. What the heck is this brat talking about. Of course he worried. He shook his head before beamed Tenn with his Gaku-like grin. "Of course I am! You're my friend! What kind of person don't worry about their own friends."

Tenn blushed and quickly hide his face from Gaku. "D-don't you feel embarrass for saying that...."

Gaku frowned as a big question mark appeared on his head. "Huh. Why would it embarrass me?"

"Ugh... Forget it...." Tenn paused before he looked into Gaku's grey eyes. "You promise you won't forget me?"

"I won't forget you. Why you suddenly ask that?"

"Nothing you should care." It's not like Gaku should care about it. He didn't want Gaku to worry about it.

Gaku was asking Tenn some questions. Unfortunate for Gaku, Tenn ignored Gaku's questions, only gave the man a smile- which really creeping Gaku out. It's amusing for Tenn. He did that on purpose. Just like how he didn't appear for long time on purpose. He just wanted that coward to face the reality. It's scared him that he will die because of that coward but Riku was there. Riku took care of it. Before that coward could jump from the rooftops. But... Last night... That coward didn't even go to the rooftops like usual. Riku don't even need to come out. That's mean.... That coward still had will to live. That also mean he will disappear someday but still....

"I'm glad."

Gaku stopped talking, only blinked at Tenn with confusion written on his face. "Wha?"

Before Tenn could say anything, there's a sound of knocks outside the door as the door opened. Tsumugi entered the room with a smile on her face. "Gaku-san, visiting time is already end."

Gaku stood up from his sit, looked at her with the same charming smile. "Thanks for reminder, Tsumugi." Gaku got a nod from her as she waited for Gaku to go outside. "Oh, are you free tonight? Wanna go have dinner together?"

"Oh... I'm really sorry, Gaku-san. Unfortunately, I have another patients I need to look after tonight." Tsumugi politely rejected, giving Gaku an apology look. Which made Gaku immediately depressed.

"I-is that so... Maybe next time then."

Tenn muttered under his breath. "Don't even start to flirt here, you pathetic."

Gaku heard that. "SHUT UP WILL YOU?!"

Tsumugi giggled at their interaction. "Hurry up, Gaku-san. You can visit Tenn-san tomorrow. I need to do some check up before his appointment with the doctor."

"Sorry..." Gaku switched his gaze toward Tenn with a grin, as if those heat exchanges being forgotten. "I'll visit again." Gaku meant it.

Tenn let out a huff, crossed his arms as his eyes went to outside window. "Yeah. Yeah. You said that many times."

Gaku walked out from the room as Tsumugi closed the door. She faced Tenn with the warm smile she always has on her face. The smile that made him feel some comfort. "It's been awhile. How's your day so far, Tenn-san?"

He gave her his own smile.

The next visit from Gaku, Gaku could feel that Tenn was in a bad mood. The devil Tenn he meant. Not like how Tenn gave him silent treatment. More like... How should he say this? Tenn kept talking to himself?

"How dare him... Hiding just because we remember about that?! That coward should face it like a man... I'm not a damn shield for him! Also, why Riku suddenly said it's good for me too?!"

Oi oi. There's too much info from those words that need Gaku to use his brain to process what was it all about. Just what was Tenn talking about? Gaku wondered. The guy didn't even notice his presence.

"Tenn."

Tenn winced, shut his mouth instantly and awkwardly looked at where Gaku stood. "G-Gaku?! Y-you didn't hear anything right?"

"Yes. I didn't." With how monotone Gaku sounded, sure he did hear it.

"You heard." And now Tenn reply back with the same tone.

"......"

"I'm not crazy."

Gaku straight away counter back. "I never say that."  Gaku place his hands on his hips, sighed at another weird behavior from Tenn that he couldn't understand. "I won't ever think anything like that, y'know that, Tenn." When he received a yes mumble from the younger, he continued. "I'm a person that values family. That also include friends. You're my friend, Tenn." He almost afraid when Tenn didn't say a word. He didn't want history repeat itself.

"Why?"

Relief filled his heart a bit when Tenn ask why. "Do I need a reason?" Tenn had this look on his face, Gaku sighed then avoided looking at Tenn's sharp eyes. "Well, I see you as a family."

Tenn gaped at him for seconds, shut his mouth straight away as if he didn't just gaping like an idiot. Thank goodness Gaku didn't saw that. "What a dumb reason." He muttered, tighten his fists.

"It's not dumb!" No no, Gaku, just calm down. He inhale and exhale his breath before continue. "Just... I'll be your ears. Let out all those emotions. It will make you feel better. I think." Gaku not really sure if it going to work because last time, breakdown happened when he first meet with Angel Tenn. He pray to anyone out there, nothing bad will happen. God why Tenn stared at him like that.

"I never want to be like this. This miserable life in hospital, I hate it."

God, it's only two sentences and it's already depressing. Tenn seemed didn't want to elaborate any further so Gaku opened his mouth. "I won't comment. Just let it out." He felt like a therapist now.

Tenn bit his lower lip. "I don't want to burden you. I didn't even tell Kaa-san, I don't want to worry her."

Somehow, that tick him off. "Who's burden me? Y'know, my father is a burden to me!"

'Why he said that proudly...' Tenn thought to himself but quickly snapped from it when he saw that serious look Gaku had. He clenched his jaws.

Gaku raised his hand and placed it on his own heart. "Worries are normal in family. If they worry, that's mean they love you, Tenn. Of course your mom worry!"

Damn Gaku. Damn his kindness. Tenn just wanted to cry when he saw that face but he won't. He didn't want to open his mouth at all, like last time but... But... Something poked his head for awhile now but he ignored that as he let the words out. "I...... I don't have any prior memories of those trauma he had. So, it's not my place to judge him. And yet.... He's a damn coward! I live miserable because of him-!" His head suddenly felt like a sharp knife stab his brain nonstop. He clutched his head tightly. "It's hurt."

That alarmed Gaku a lot, he stood up from his sit without delay and with gentle gesture, he held Tenn's shoulders firmly. "What's wrong? Should I go call Tsumugi?" He asked, which Tenn only shook his head as no. "Then, what should I do?"

"Don't leave me."

It's the same request that made Gaku's heart shattered. The same from other Tenn. "Of course I won't." He slowly brought himself enveloped Tenn because the brat obviously need it. Thankfully, Tenn didn't fight back the hug.

Few seconds later, Tenn released his head from the clutch of his hands. He let his head fell on Gaku's chest. A raspy laugh came out from his lips. He called his other pathetic, look at him now. Gaku won't give up at all. He knew Gaku will listen so might deal with it now. "My whole life is just a lie. I'm an alter created by him. I'm a lie he created to escape from harsh reality."

"That's not true! You're your own person!"

Tenn gripped Gaku's shirt, continued to hide his face on Gaku's chest. Gaku's just too kind for his own good. Please don't. It just made it harder for him to disappear. Unshed tears began to form but he won't allow it to fall. "I'm the first one he created. To escape reality. I'm the person he could be but couldn't. He's a coward. But I'm worse. I'm a liar. I pretended to be him when I'm not even him. I don't even know what's going on anymore." He exhale his breath as if he held his breath for awhile. Gaku was quiet and seemed to process his words. Good. Let's drop another information.

"Y'know, there's actually another alter."

"Another?!" Gaku wanted to release the cuddle and look at Tenn's eyes for confirmation but the brat's clutch was like steel, didn't even move a bit. Still want the hug huh.

Tenn nodded. "You lucky you haven't meet him. He's a monster. All he did was destruction. Probably came from the rage for those kidnappers. Riku's the only one who can tame him. He didn't even come out for months because of Riku's hard work. Also Ai-sensei's hard work too."

Gaku could imagined many things just from those statements. He could shivers just from those images. He really didn't want to meet the guy. If Riku can tame that guy, he really like an angel for doing that. And Ai-sensei? Ah. Ai, that was Tenn's doctor.

"That's the thing. He haven't come out.... He's not there now. He's gone."

Gone? Like that guy not exist anymore? Doesn't that mean Tenn was getting better!? Isn't that a good news?! Wait.. now he thought about it.... Wasn't Devil Tenn also- He instantly made Tenn face him by grabbed Tenn's shoulders, maybe it's to harsh but he needed to know. Tenn kept hiding behind that long bangs. Why was his own arms shaking?! "Does that mean you..." That question left unfinished. He didn't dare to spell it out.

Now that Tenn raised his head, Gaku could see the tears on his cheeks. "My emotions are mix up because of you. Before we met, I will gladly disappear for Tenn. For that coward to face reality.  But, after meeting with you, I'm scared! I don't know what will happen to me! That's why I.. avoided you. A lot. I keep forcing that coward to come out. Even Riku too."

Gaku slowly pulled his hands away from Tenn. He remembered that times where Riku keep complain about Tenn. So that's what happened. He solemnly thought but quickly shook it away when he heard a raspy laugh from Tenn. "Tenn...?"

"What am I talking about. I'm not going to disappear. All of us are the same person." Tenn wiped his tears with his sleeve, gave Gaku a soft smile. "Even if I'm gone, I'm still Tenn y'know." His eyes softened. "Thanks. Please take care him- no, us, me."

Those sad feeling Gaku had earlier slowly turned into a warm feeling he not sure what it was. That smile suits Tenn more that the usual frown. Tenn looked more like an angel that way. Gaku finally released a breath he been holding up, grinned with his eyes closed. "We're friends aren't we! Of course I will!"

Tenn unconsciously gripped his blanket. He really didn't deserve Gaku. At least, let him enjoy his time with Gaku. "I like this atmosphere.... Can we just chat like this?"

So they did. They ended up talking about random things. Like that time Gaku blurted out what's your favorite food just repeated itself. That kind of stuff they chat about. They did argued there and that but both of them enjoyed each other company. They didn't even realize that visiting hours nearly end.

Gaku raised his hand, waved it a bit at Tenn. "See you then, Tenn."

Tenn stared down at his bandaged hands before look up at Gaku. He smiled softly, raised his bandaged hand to wave at Gaku back. "Yeah.... So long, Gaku."

Gaku knew very well, so long is similar to farewell. Tenn was saying farewell to him. Deep in his heart, he knew he won't see this Tenn again and yet, he just hope for otherwise.

That Ai isn't Ai from Oshi no Ko. She's my first ever OC. Her name is Airi Shunsuke. I just put her here because I haven't use her for awhile.
