Sage
When the plane landed, I looked out Lili's window to the city. The more modern style was scattered around older buildings, cobblestone squares, and elaborate fountains. I've always loved architecture and couldn't wait to get out and explore.
While waiting to pick up our bags, I thought about what Lili had said. It sounded like she had a side that only came out when she was with the people she really loved, like her little brother. I wondered if something had happened to make her the way she is normally.
We exited the airport and sat down on a bench.
"How about we take a taxi instead of a bus this time?" I asked.
Lili nodded fervently, and I had to wonder if she got sick on busses too.
"I found a hotel a few miles away from here and reserved rooms online." Julia added, looking up from a map. "Who wants the couch?"
"I'll be fine with that." I said, before Lili could say anything. I'd been surprised by her enough today, and wasn't about to take any chances.
We flagged down a taxi and drove quickly to our hotel. The room was really nice. It had a little kitchenette, a balcony overlooking downtown and two twin beds. I flopped down on the couch and dropped my suitcase beside it. I pulled the travel brochure out of my bag and examined it.
"Where do we want to start on our search?" I inquired, tracing the winding streets with my finger.
"Let's start with the most popular tourist destinations," suggested Julia, putting on the kettle.
"Perfect. We can catch a train tomorrow to the Parthenon. I've always wanted to see that," Lili said. "I'll check the train schedule right now."
"I'm feeling like I could use a bit of a nap myself," Julia yawned. "Ugh. They don't have lemon tea. I'll have to settle for mint."
I was not at all sleepy. So I changed into my swimsuit and went down to take a dip.
After ten laps in the pool and a few minutes in the jacuzzi, I returned upstairs to the others.
