Lili

I was having a wonderfully quiet day. Everyone was going to that book convention. Personally, I think Julia's books are overrated, even though I published them. Then, Julia and her friend Sage walked in. They were nice enough, but got on my nerves.

"Lili!" Julia cried, "Someone took all of my books! We need your help!"

I raised my eyebrows. "Sit down and explain," I said.

They flopped down onto chairs and explained what had happened.

"Alright," I said. This was interesting. I enjoyed trying to solve mysteries. It made me feel like Sherlock Holmes, one of my favorite fictional characters. "Have you looked at the display? Maybe there is something that might point you in the right direction."

"Let's go look! Come on!" Sage said, jumping up.

I noted that she seemed to dislike being inactive. I stood up with a sigh. I hated to wreck my quiet day, but my instincts told me that this would be worth it. We stepped outside and started walking to the convention hall. We slipped easily through the thinning crowd and into the tall building. There was a huge book display, but it was completely empty. I stepped forward to take a look.

"See anything?" Julia immediately asked.

I sighed and turned around. "Not yet. Why don't you two go to the coffee shop and get something to eat? That way, I can look without interruptions."

"Well, since you asked so nicely," Sage muttered as she and Julia walked out the door.

Finally. I stepped forward and began my search.
