Julia
Sage leapt past me to look over Lili's shoulder. "Ithaca?" she asked.
Lili shrugged "I know nothing."
"That's a first," Sage mumbled, looking at me.
"How do you guys not know?" I cried. "It's an island, in the Ionian sea! Didn't you guys pay attention in geography class? I've always wanted to go."
Lili shrugged again. Sage dove into the pile of bags in the corner and came out with Lili's laptop. I snatched it and waited, exasperated, while Lili put in her passcode.
"Okay," I said, after a flurry of typing. "Ithaca is an island about 37 kilometers from here. And... Yay! There's a ferry! Tomorrow at 10:00. We'll be there in time for a late lunch. And it's reasonably priced."
"Define 'reasonably', Julia." Sage put in. "You're the one who bought her own house."
"Relax." I sniffed. I scrolled back to the top of the page to find the price again. "It's only €17. You're not so poor as you make it sound."
"Well I am," Lili yawned, "So someone else gets to buy my ticket!"
"Don't look at me. I've covered hotels this whole trip." Sage drawled, sliding down in her chair. Soon I could only see her eyes.
"For pity's sake, Sage! I can't take you seriously when you are sitting like that. However, you have succeeded. I will buy the tickets." I said, doing my best to hide my giggles.
"Well I-" Sage abruptly fell off her chair. With a crash, it toppled over on top of her. "Oops."
Lili exploded in peals of laughter and I no longer hid my giggles. Sage sighed and got slowly up.
"I'm ready for food. And no, I'm not paying, in case anyone was wondering," I said with a pointed look at Sage. She stuck out her tongue at me and went to get her coat.
Lili was craving crepes, so we found a little French cafe. Not quite as good as back home but yummy all the same. We went to bed early. A lot had happened today, and tomorrow would be equally busy.
