|| Chapter 67 ||

-Author's POV-

Madison contemplates retreating back downstairs, she could hear muffled cries sounding up to her bedroom. Silently, she was praying that her Mam wasn't crying, but the odds of the Geordie not crying was far out of reach.

The teen takes a deep breath, slowly routing down the grand stairs, with light feet tiptoeing into the living room and spotting Cheryl curled up on the sofa, crying her heart out. She bites her lower lip, watching her mother release cries into the silent air.

What the fcuk do I do? She mentally thinks.

"Mam?" She clears her throat, walking towards the Geordie shielding herself up into a vulnerable ball.

Cheryl gulps her cry, but makes no attempt to turn around and meet her daughter's soft green eyes.

"Are.. Are you okay?" Madison asks, kneeling down and shakily reaching a hand out to stroke the Geordie's shoulder.

Cheryl's eyes water further to the contact of love emitting from her daughter's touch.

"M'fine." Comes the trembling reply.

"So why are you crying?" Madison speaks gently, continuing to stroke her hand up and down the mother's forearm and shoulder.

"I..I don't know."

"Mam—"

"Sweets," Cheryl hiccups. "Please.. J-Just leave us alone." Her words muffle, sounding against the linen sofa she'd hid her face in.

"I'm not going anywhere." Madison speaks firmly, climbing onto the sofa and spooning the Geordie tightly from behind.

Cheryl melts to the touch, releasing her held back cries.

"Shh Mam," Madison's own eyes begin to water, "It's okay." She sniffs, getting Cheryl to turn around in her arms, wrapping each other in a sealed bubble.

The Geordie has no more shame in hiding her tears, hanging on tightly to the teen as she lets them all out. The rolls were now reversed, Madison was comforting her mother, whispering loving words to the distraught Geordie. Her arms never release, keeping Cheryl tightly held in an embrace of comfort.

And that's the way they stayed, on the sofa, for what seemed like minutes, hours, and days of love being exchanged in silent whispers and affectionate kisses.

Madison was healing Cheryl.

The teen speaks up after a long silence, "I forgave you.. You know that right?" She asks, continuing to stroke her mother's back tenderly.

"You did?" Cheryl sniffs, looking into her daughter's eyes for the first time. Brown orbs paint red, filled with regret and sadness.

"Yeah.. Yeah I did." They share as smile, the tears return to the Geordie's beautiful browns; the cries of happiness flow freely down her cheeks, and all she could do was pull her daughter back in for a tight hug.

"I love you so much sweets," Cheryl sniffs. "I could never repay you for what I did—"

"You loving me is good enough." They hold each other tightly, tangling up in a sea of love.

They sigh simultaneously.

"Mum didn't mean what she said—"

"She say's some stupid sh*t when she's angry—"

"Please don't fight," Madison pulls back, pouting slightly. "I.. I don't like when youse fight. You two care about each other.. And.. And I don't like it when you fight. You both tend to say some stupid sh*t to each other in the heat of it all."

Cheryl smiles at her wise daughter, "What did I do to deserve you aye?" She grins, pulling the teen back into her arms.

I ask myself that everyday. Madison mentally whispers to herself.

The sound of the garden door slides opened followed by Kimberley's footsteps. She smiles at her wife and daughter, trying her best not to cry at Cheryl's flood, the tears she was responsible for.

"Mum," Madison untangles from her mother's embrace, standing to her feet and meeting the guilty blonde. "Where'd you go?" She asks, her green eyes shifting down to the muddy boots the blonde had on.

"Went for a walk in the garden," She smiles. "Hey.. Mado, do you mind leaving your Mam and I for a minute?" She asks, instantly getting a nod from the teen, and a swift exit.

They're left alone.

Cheryl refuses to meet her wife's eyes, sitting up and locking the browns to the cream rug placed under the coffee table.

"Look babe—"

"I already know what you're going to say," Cheryl forces her eyes up, meeting the blue-greys. "You'll apologize, say you didn't mean it.. I'm sick of it. I'm fcuking sick of you constantly abusing us with your fcuking words!" She stands to her feet.

Kimberley never speaks, her heart rages in quick beats.

"You'll never learn until I leave you—"

"What are you trying to say?" Kimberley's voice speaks in a tremble.

"You do this repeatedly. You bash us with these spiteful words! It's like you purposely try and break us down," Tears slip down Cheryl's cheeks, but she forces herself to continue. "Y-You know how insecure I am over Madison, and this isn't the f-first time you've spoke this way to us."

Kimberley gulps, looking down at the ground in defeat.

"Babe—"

"Don't even," Cheryl grits. "I don't want to talk to you.. Not until I'm ready. So stay out of me way." She walks past the shaken blonde, exiting the living room and darting up to their bedroom.

A slam of the door sounds into the mansion, letting Kimberley know not to follow her.

Not this time.

Madison sighs, placing her head down. She knew it would turn ugly; a hopeful wish was now thrown out the window. The sound of Kimberley's feet nearing the kitchen get the teen to sit up, catching her mother's eyes.

"She's not too happy is she.." Kimberley laughs, trying to make light of the situation.

"It's not funny," Madison frowns. "Don't think I'm on your side with this—"

"Not you too—"

"I heard you." The teen abruptly stands, "You're such a d*ck sometimes."

"Mado wait—"

"Fcuk you." Kimberley sighs, watching her daughter exit the kitchen and follow in her mother's footsteps.

She huffs, taking her daughters seat on the breakfast table. It wasn't the first time Cheryl and herself had a massive row, and in the end it was all her doing.

Stupid. So stupid.

~~~~~~~
Cheryl's temper rises to the words Kimberley chooses to spit. She's taken back, unsure how to respond to such venom sounding from her girlfriend's lips.
"Get the fcuk out!" She screams, rushing straight at the blonde with fists swinging against her girlfriend's chest.
Kimberley grasps the Geordie's hands, fighting her back with the fists aiming at her.
"What!? You're the one who fcuking started this fcuking fight!"
"You b*tch!" Cheryl spits, struggling the grip out of her wrists.
"You're the b*tch that can't do anything right!" Kimberley spits back, pushing her girlfriend roughly.
"Get out!" Cheryl repeats, "Get the fcuk out! We're over."
~~~~~~

Kimberley returns to reality with a sigh.

Their anger could never assemble together, a Cancer and a Scorpio create compulsive hurting of each other, harboring resentment, jealousy, possessiveness, destructive tendencies when erupting a fight, She knew that, and that was the only low in their relationship.

God damn it. She repeats, slamming a fist against the wooden table. It was a constant battle for Kimberley, regularly needing to learn how to stop the spiteful words. It was uncontrollable; remorse always sank deep into her heart after every argument.

Now they had a daughter, she needed to finally learn.

She sighs, standing to her feet and walking up the stairs to the teen's bedroom.

She knocks, but gets no reply.

Another knock.

"Mado, open up." She knocks once again, this time opening the door and letting herself in.

"Madz?" She calls out, searching for her daughter in the empty space. "Babe?"

The teen wasn't anywhere to be found, and she didn't need to think twice where her daughter would be.

Kimberley sighs, walking out and strolling down the hall. She comes to a stop, taking in the sound of the teen and her wife giggling away. Her eyes can't help but sneak a peak through the cracked opened door, smiling at the sight before her.

Madison giggles, sitting up on her knees and looking down at her mother laughing away.

"I'm not joking Mam," The teen puts her hands up in the air, "It was huge – this big!"

Cheryl laughs harder; it was exactly what the brunette teen was hoping for. She wanted to make the sadness diminish from the brown eyes that sparkled like shooting stars in the night.

"I-Is that so?" Cheryl sniffs, releasing another giggle.

"Mhm," She nods. "One time Christopher and I drove around the entire country in search of a pumpkin—"

"Don't even finish that—"

"One the size of a car!" The teen continues her exaggeration. "We towed it home."

Cheryl falls into another fit of laughter, clutching her stomach from the euphoric pain shooting through her.

"We carved it too – made it into a carriage like—"

"O-Okay s-stop."

Madison huffs, flopping down beside the Geordie and watching the older woman dissolve into bliss. A soft smile curves to the teen's lips, green eyes sparkling at the sight of her mother, never before seeing her in such light.

The sun streams through the curtains, kissing Cheryl's skin into olive luxury.

"Are you done?" She pretends to be in a mood, "I'm never telling you a story ever again."

Cheryl releases her last giggle, wiping the happy tears and smiling with utter happiness flowing through her system. Madison was the reason behind such love beating into her heart, streaming through her veins, and thumping in a melodic rhythm.

They lay side-by-side, both smiling lightly at the sound of tenderness lingering in the ambiance.

Cheryl takes in the sight of her daughter, for the first time seeing her daughter completely.

The green eyes beaming brightly, plumped lips smiling widely, and eyebrows painted with gods brush. Her brown eyes slip down the small nose, noticing the nostrils unknowingly expanding from the nervousness suddenly erupting.

"Kimba does that," Cheryl speaks in a sigh.

"Hm?" Madison frowns, pouting in confusion.

"And that too," She giggles. "You know.. Even though she's not your biological Mum.. Youse have a lot in common with each other."

"Are you really upset with her?" The teen asks, watching her mother stroke her cased wrist.

"I'm.. I'm kind of sick of it you know," Cheryl shrugs. "I love her. Don't get us wrong.. It's just—"

"She's hurt you."

"Yeah." Cheryl breathes. "I think we need a break is all—"

"Are you getting a divorce?" Madison's heart breaks to the thought.

"No – god no." Cheryl shakes her head; terrified it would ever get to that. "She just needs to understand not to hurt us with her words." She shrugs again, looking up and seeing the sadness sketching to her daughter's face.

"What's with the face?" She asks, reaching over and stroking the teens cheek.

"Nothing—"

"Tell us babe."

Madison sighs softly, "I know it's not up to me like," She begins. "But.. I don't like seeing youse fighting. I've never been.. Never.." She can't bring herself to say it, the words have trapped into her throat, and air has become a job to do.

"What is it babe."

She shakes her head, biting down on her lower lip, piercing it firmly between her teeth.

"C'mere." Cheryl pulls her daughter in, gently, showering her with kisses to the temple.

They remain in an embrace of need.

Kimberley tries her best not to cry; the thought of breaking things off with her wife was out of the question.

They were unbreakable, or so she believed.

She would have to gain her wife's love back, and she was willing to go to the ends of the earth to prove her love.

Madison releases an unintentional hiccup, getting the Geordie to pull her in closer and hold onto her with hopes to convey silent love within.

"Shh," She soothes her, placing kisses with need. "What's the matter sweets?"

"I-I.. I-I just.. I-I don't want you-youse to leave each other." The teen cries in her mother's arms, trying to catch a breath and stop the racing thoughts from beating into her mind.

"No more tears," She gives her a squeeze, clasping her eyes shut and fighting her own tears back.

"You have to p-promise." Madison begs, crying the words to her mother.

"Listen to us," Cheryl grasps the teens cheek, watching her daughter lose the grasp to her emotions. "No matter what happens we will love you endlessly—"

"No," Madison whines, hiccuping and shaking along, tears flooding down her flushed cheeks. "Y-You have to p-promise."

Cheryl doesn't reply, simply taking her daughter back into her arms.

"I can't promise that."

Loud cries erupt into the bedroom, projecting into Kimberley's heart, and breaking the blonde along with her daughter.
