|| Chapter 49 ||
-Author's POV-
Happiness.
Laughter.
Euphoria.
She is filled with a new sense of feeling; she was smiling, and beaming with pure bliss. It was all down to Cheryl, it was all Kimberley - It was the two women changing Madison's entire perspective on life.
Her heart rate rages with nerve, she paces back and forth in her bedroom. She wanted to look perfect for the new family she'd soon to meet.
She tugs, and pulls at her clothing.
Maybe these shorts weren't the best choice. She mentally argues with herself.
Less is more Madison, Less is more. Clara's voice forces its way into her subconscious state of mind.
She shakes her thoughts away.
A knock to the door gets her to halt in her place.
"Come in," Madison tries to make her voice sound neutral.
"Hey sweets," Cheryl smiles; she steps into the teens sanctuary and closes the door behind her. "You ready?"
"Why?" Madison replies quickly, "Are they here? Are they downstairs? I still have a lot to do-"
Cheryl laughs lightly; she can hear the nerves in the teen's voice.
"C'mere you nutter." She opens her arms and invites her daughter in for a much needed cuddle.
Madison sighs and gives in to the kind gesture.
She falls into Cheryl's loving arms.
"What're you so nervous for?" She asks softly, her hand runs along the teens back in comfort.
Madison shrugs, "I'm not even nervous." She lies.
"Yeah?" Cheryl giggles, "Baby, your lying is just as bad as ours." They giggle in unison.
"What's got you nervous?" Cheryl asks again, she pulls back and takes a closer look at the anxious teen.
"It' s just," She averts her green orbs, but Cheryl is quick to grasp her daughter's chin, forcing their eyes to mix in beautiful browns and greens.
"Just what?" Her voice is sweet and subtle.
"What if they hate me?" Come the insecure words.
"Since when do you care what anyone thinks-"
"This is different," Madison sighs softly. "They're going to be.. Family.. No?" Her voice lowers to the words she's been fighting to sound.
"Exactly sweets," Cheryl smiles, she forces herself not to get emotional. "Family. That's what we'll all be.. A family never judges each other."
Madison scuffs to the Geordie's words.
"What?" Cheryl frowns.
"You can't even trust family these days." She steps back from the motherly touch.
"You don't trust us?" Cheryl's voice cracks with fear, she's afraid of the teens answer.
"I didn't say that-"
"We are family-"
"Your lot is different than this," Madison sighs in frustration. "What we have is a family, yes." The words flow naturally, without a single filter interfering and stopping her thoughts. "But extended family is just as important.. We'll be seeing them plenty I'm sure-"
"I promise you they'll love you just as much-"
"You don't know that," Madison closes her eyes; she turns around and gives Cheryl her back. "Don't put made-up scenarios in my head." The teen whispers.
"Well I'll tell you from now," Cheryl tries again. "You have nothing to worry about, and if anyone has anything to say, then they can talk to us.. I- We wont allow anyone to disrespect you." The Geordie speaks with confidence, getting Madison to turn around and meet the brown orbs once again.
"You promise?" She asks.
"I promise. Now come on," Cheryl extends her arm out. "Let's go down and help Kimba before she kills the both of us." Madison giggles and takes her mother's hand.
This never happened to the teen, nobody cared to stand up for her; nobody bothered to put her first.
The world was always against her.
Now Cheryl and Kimberley made things possible, she was seeing everything in a different light.
They walk down the lengthy marble staircase, hand-in-hand, with their smiles never weakening. Their beams grow as they near the kitchen, and take in the sound of Kimberley singing away to a new tune she couldn't seem to get out of her head.
Cheryl smiles at her wife's rowdy behavior, the blonde was never quiet when it came to cooking or anything else for that matter.
"About time!" Kimberley turns around and acknowledges their presence, "I don't know who you's think you are leaving me here to do all these fcuking horderves!"
Madison bites her lip, she doesn't want to set the blonde off further.
"Well?" Kimberley gets their attention, "Move your arses and help me ready this sh*t!"
Cheryl clears her throat and gets her feet moving towards the blonde.
"I was just getting this monkey down-"
"I'm sure this monkey could get herself down." She releases an agonized groan "Baby, please help me I can't do all of this on my own! We've got about ten or so of our family coming, I don't have any of the nibblers ready or anything-"
"Kimberley," Cheryl speaks softly. "Baby relax, we've got time-"
"Well standing here doing nothing is wasting time!" Kimberley huffs "Help me."
Madison quickly gets moving and helps the blonde instantly.
"What do you want me to do?" She asks, with one fast motion, she takes off her denim jacket and tosses it over the kitchen stool.
"Now we're talking," Kimberley laughs lightly, "It's good to know one Tweedy is willing to help."
Tweedy.
Am I a Tweedy?
I'm a Harris.
Her mind runs wild; her heart rate attempts to catch up but falls behind with a new beating rhythm.
"Oi!" Cheryl doesn't dwell over her wife's words. "I help all the damn time!" She takes a different route; her own heart rate matches the teens who's currently frozen in her spot.
"Says the one watching me put these bloody nibblers together!" Kimberley hisses, "Would you two make yourselves useful and help?" The blonde groans. She was growing irritated with both girls, time was ticking away and nearing the Tweedy and Walsh families' arrival.
Cheryl rolls her eyes and puts her hands to use.
Madison remains quiet; she was unable to speak whilst helping both women ready the essentials for tonight's first gathering.
Tweedy. The name repeats over and over again.
Tweedy.
"Madison, Sweets, take this out to the garden table," Cheryl brings the teen out of her daze, she hands her a platter piled with fruits and fancy cheeses. "Be careful not to drop it-"
"I wont." Madison rolls her eyes; she carefully walks out to the back garden and leaves the married couple alone.
"What were you's talking about upstairs?" Kimberley is quick to ask, "She doesn't seem herself." She wipes her hands dry and leans against the kitchen counter with her arms folded.
"She's just a little nervous-"
"Aw my baby," The blonde pouts, "Has she been speaking to the wicked witch?"
"Kimberley," Cheryl sighs.
"Cheryl," Kimberley mocks her.
"She is her mother after all-" The blonde cuts her wife off with a laugh.
"What?"
"She's not her fcuking mother," Kimberley straightens up, "You're her mother, and I am her mother. That woman is a right piece of work, I still plan to call her-"
"Would you stop that." Cheryl hisses, "You're only going to start problems-"
"I don't care," Kimberley rolls her eyes, she walks past her wife and finishes plating the fruits.
"Madison will get upset-"
"She'll get over it-"
"Stop being such a d*ck." Cheryl jabs her wife's shoulder, "I'm being serious right now."
"Oh really?" The blonde turns around; she chuckles at the Geordie's scowling expression. "I didn't realize you were being serious." She rolls her eyes, and turns back around to put the last of the strawberries.
"Kimberley, I swear to god-"
"Uh-uh," The blonde warns her, "Remember, no more swearing to god or we will be going to church."
Cheryl groans in aggravation.
"Now, go make yourself useful and take this plate out." Kimberley carefully grasps the large plate and hands it over to a raging Cheryl.
"Oh?" She grits. "I'm only useful when it comes to taking sh*t out?" Her eyes roar in firing anger.
"No, you're also useful in the bedroom, and in other places - now go on." She pats her shoulder, "Go before I devour you and these fruits you're holding."
Cheryl sighs; she rolls her eyes and follows Madison's footsteps out to the back garden.
She finds the teen wandering around the large lush grass; her bare feet strut and dig into the perfectly groomed greenery.
She sets the fruit platter down, and takes a few steps closer towards the everlasting grassland.
"Hey!" Cheryl calls out.
Madison stops, she turns around to get a look at the shouting Geordie. The lengthy distance from the cemented garden platform and the grass allows Madison to hide her uneasy state.
"What're ya doin' all the way out there?!" Cheryl raises her voice in hopes for her daughter to hear her clearly.
"Just taking a minute to myself!" She shouts back.
"Alright." Cheryl doesn't pester the teen any further; she walks back into the mansion with worry.
"Kimba?" She hurries back into the kitchen. "Something's off with Madison." Her tone gets Kimberley to stop whatever she was doing, and give her complete attention.
"What do you mean?" She asks, her voice laces with concern.
"She just.. Seems nervous or - I don't know really." Cheryl sighs; she runs her fingers through the chocolate locks and swiftly ties the long strands into a messy bun.
"Stop your worrying, baby she's fine." Kimberley smiles at her fretful wife.
She's even adorable when she's worried.
"I don't know Kimba-"
"Cheryl, baby, darling, sweetheart-"
"What?" Cheryl rolls her eyes, she suppresses the smile currently begging to appear.
"C'mere so I can kiss you-"
"No I don't want your kisses-"
Kimberley comically gasps, "Denying me? Of your kisses? How could you?"
"You'll get me kisses when I want to give you me kisses-"
"You obviously don't know how a marriage works-"
"Oh?" Cheryl slowly paces herself to the blonde, "And how does a marriage work?" She asks, the sexy grin now on full display.
"I'd gathered you'd know, you know, seeing as we've been married for six years-"
"Going on seven-"
"Yeah whatever," Kimberley grins. "I said. Come. Here." She quickly grasps the Geordie's arm and pulls her in.
"What?" Cheryl giggles. "What Kimba? What?" She wraps her arms around the blonde's neck, and allows Kimberley to kiss her how every she pleased.
They stand in the kitchen with their lips locked, arms embracing each other in a sealed world, and both tongues giving each other a taste of their watery cravings for one another.
Kimberley's fingers path along her wife's neck, this action always got the Geordie to grow with hunger.
"Mmm," Cheryl groans deeply, "Kimba-" The blonde doesn't give her a chance to protest, she's quick, and full of need for her wife.
She picks up the Geordie with one motion, and sets her down on the countertop.
"Baby-"
"Shh, let me just kiss you-"
"Fcuk," Cheryl gasps, "Your kissing always leads to - Kimba." She whines, her breathing picks up as Kimberley latches her mouth to the smoothness of her silky bronzed neck.
"Do you know how fcuking sexy you are?" The blonde grunts, her hands work up the top of a squirming Cheryl.
"Baby, stop." She urges her. "Our families are going to be here - Kimberley!" Cheryl squeals as the blonde gives her nipples a playful pinch.
"Off! Get off!" She pushes her away.
Kimberley smirks and takes a step back from her unimpressed wife.
"Well don't look so upset," She laughs. "I'll have you later today-"
"You're not having us today!" Cheryl hisses, she hops off the counter and gives Kimberley a poke to the chest. "Our fcuking family is staying here tonight-"
"That's not going to stop me-"
"Kimberley I swear to god-"
"Kimba?" Madison walks through the house with Kimberley's name sounding to from lips. "Kimba?" She calls out again.
"Grrr." Kimberley purrs to her unimpressed wife, she gives her a fast swat to the bum and addresses the teen walking back into the kitchen.
Cheryl rolls her eyes.
"Kimba-"
"Yeah?"
Madison wordlessly walks over to the blonde, takes her hand, and drags her out of the kitchen.
Cheryl furrows her eyebrows as she watches this scene take place. But never does she follow them; she simply stays in place and wonders what her daughter needed, and why she couldn't seem to come to her for the worries troubling her.
"What?" Kimberley laughs lightly; she allows the teen to drag her out to the garden. "Mado-"
"Wait." Madison speaks past the lump in her throat.
Kimberley notices the trembling in her tone, she doesn't dare to speak until she was spoken to.
The teen slows down her urgent footsteps, and soon, their fingers lace tenderly.
They walk silently through the garden, and stride their steps towards the enchanting forest.
"You gonna tell me what all this is about?" Kimberley speaks softly.
"I don't want Cheryl to think I'm weak-"
"What are you on about?" The blonde stops the teen from taking another step. "Tell me what's going on?" She asks, this time more firmly.
"I.. I don't want to meet them." Madison confesses, their hands release and her pacing begins.
Kimberley frowns at the teens uneasy actions.
Madison's breathing begins to grow and so does her rambling.
"I mean," She begins. "I want to meet them don't get me wrong, they seem like lovely people - but me? No.. No they'll hate me, then I'll hate them, we'll get into an argument.. Fists will be thrown-"
"Madison-"
"I look tough, I know I do, but I'll lose to a fight with them I'm sure. How many are coming 10-15 of them? I can't. No - no way!" She runs her fingers through her hair with frustration, "I can't meet them - I already have a long list of people who already hate me-"
"Madison!" Kimberley snaps, "Would you stop that!" She grabs the teens hands and forces them out of their tight hold of the brunette locks.
"Listen to me-"
"I can't meet them-"
"I said shut up and listen." Madison frowns and remains quiet.
"They're going to love you-"
"You don't-"
"Madison, I will beat you so help me god." She grabs the teen and walks them to a nearby patch of clean grass to sit down on.
"Sit." She demands.
Madison sighs and sits down on the plush grass in a grumpy mood.
Kimberley sits close to her upset daughter.
"I'm going to talk, and you're going to listen. I don't want you interrupting me." The teen nods, and remains silent.
"I don't want you worrying about what anyone thinks of you, they are here to know that we have a daughter - you. We have you and that's the only reason they're coming today. I don't give a sh*t if they love you or don't-"
"But-"
"God damn it Madison," Kimberley hisses. "Listen."
Madison nods.
"Let your Mam and I worry about them-"
"She's not my Mam!" Madison forces the blonde to listen, "Stop calling her that!"
Kimberley furrows her eyebrows, "Last time I checked she gave birth to you-"
"I don't care." The teen scoffs, "Doesn't make her my Mam! I have a Mum."
These words shatter the blonde's heart.
"Don't you dare say those words to her!" She snaps. "You can say them to me all you like, but don't you fcuking dare say those words to her. Do you understand me?" She grits.
Madison stands to her feet, "I do what I like. Nobody fcuking tells me what to do."
She goes to walk away, but Kimberley is quick to stand to her feet and grab her.
"Let me go!"
"Look at me," She demands. "Fcuking look at me." She grabs the teens face and forces their eyes to meet.
"I don't want any problems." Her voice softens, "I don't want you upsetting her.. Please, she's really happy and I don't want you saying hurtful words to her."
"Stop calling her my Mam then." The teen whispers back.
"Alright, just.. Don't be such a cunt to her-"
"I'm not a cunt." Madison forces her chin out of Kimberley's tight grasp, and steps back making some distance between them.
"Yes you are, every time sh*t starts to get real, you act like a total cuntbag!" the blonde speaks honestly. "You're taking out your anger on her just because your nerves for today are getting in the way."
Madison remains silent, because she knows deep inside, the blonde was speaking the truth.
She always ran.
She was always afraid to face reality.
"You know Cheryl loves you."
"And I love her." Madison softly whispers her confession.
Kimberley smiles, glad the teen wasn't being a little sh*t anymore.
"Good, I'm glad you love her - she knows you love her." She gently pulls the teen back into arms length.
Madison accepts the affection, and the delicate embrace.
"Did you pull me out to the woods just to ramble?" This gets a light laugh to sound from the teen.
"I just needed to talk to you, I was going crazy-"
"And why couldn't you talk to Cheryl?"
"Because-" She stops herself from confessing.
"Because what?"
Silence.
"Hm?" Kimberley pulls back and looks deep into the green orbs.
"Because, because.. Because she's just really strong." The teen shrugs bashfully. "I'm nothing compared to her, and I don't want her to think differently of me-"
"What's got you thinking like this? Eh?" Kimberley uses tough love. "That woman thinks the world of you. Do you hear me?"
Madison gulps, she nods to the older woman's words.
"She absolutely cherishes you, and it's about time you start believing it." She nods again, unable to use her voice without breaking down in front of Kimberley.
"And do you?" She finds herself asking. Her voice squeaks to life.
Kimberley laughs to the question, "You're absolutely insane do you know that?" She smiles.
"Just a little." The teen shrugs.
"You and Cheryl are my world - scratch that. The world doesn't compare, the fcuking universe doesn't come close to the love I have for the both of you's."
Madison laughs with teary eyes. "You're so cheesy."
"Well I feel like being cheesy. Now wipe those tears away and lets start heading back." The teen does as she's told, this time, Kimberley leads them back to the home filled with unfamiliar voices.
Madison's hand tenses in the blondes clasp.
"It's alright," She gives her an encouraging squeeze; Kimberley takes it upon herself to step into the home first.
Madison never releases their hold.
"KIMBZ!" And just as their hold began to give Madison a sense of comfort, it's forced to release with Kimberley's sisters colliding into her.
Cheryl spots her uneasy daughter instantly.
She holds her hand out, Madison moves her feet and stands right beside her mother.
The sense of comfort paths back through her, with a simple wrap of the arm, and a kiss to the head; her heart rate returns to its natural beats.
"Will you's calm down!" Kimberley chuckles, she pulls away from her family's muddled embrace.
"Hello Mum," She walks over to her parents, "Dad.. Surprise seeing you's two here together." She jokes, getting them to laugh.
"Where's Adam?" She frowns.
"He'll be heading this way shortly, he just got held back at the office-"
"I told him a fcuking week ago-"
"He said he was sorry." She rolls her eyes.
"Well as long as he's still coming."
"He will, don't worry I made sure to give him one of my never ending lectures." Kimberley's eldest sister, Sally pipes in.
"And he wont hear the end of it from me." The youngest of the siblings, Amy, adds.
"Okay," Kimberley turns around and meets an uncomfortable looking Madison. "C'mere." She beckons her over.
Madison points to herself.
"No the Geordie next to you."
"Would you stop that," Cheryl grumbles. "She's been picking at us all day!" She grumbles her tattling to the Walsh parents.
"Really Cheryl? You're telling on me to my parents?" They all laugh in unison. "Mado come here." She addresses the teen once again.
Madison takes a deep breath and walks over to the blonde.
A silence falls upon them.
Everyone waits for Kimberley's words to be sounded with news she's been waiting to tell.
"This is Madison," She introduces her to them. Hellos and smiles are darted to the awkward looking teen.
"And.. She's our daughter."
Silence.
Cheryl stands beside her wife and daughter and takes hold of the teen's hand.
Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.
Madison's heartbeats wildly against her chest, she tries to remember how to breathe, her fear of the unknown begins to take over her mind.
She feels judgment.
Madison can see, she can practically hear the Walsh family judging her.
Kimberley's mother clears her throat, "Well, I can't say I saw this coming." She smiles kindly at the teen.
"Wait hold on," Kimberley's father cuts in, "You adopted a child?" He asks, his voice deep and filled with questioning.
"No-"
"Did you just find her off the street-"
"Dad!" Sally cuts her father off, "Why don't we all just go inside and get some questions answered?" This is exactly what Kimberley was dreading, but nevertheless she nods her head, and leads them to the front room.
Madison never leaves the women's sides.
They all find their seats; the Walsh family sits on the large sofa and face Kimberley, Madison and Cheryl.
John speaks up, "Well, did you adopt her?" He asks; his eyes scan the uncomfortable looking teen.
"No-"
"Why don't you's explain instead of dad here," Amy narrows her eyes at John, "Asks more ridiculous questions."
Kimberley nods, she looks to Cheryl who seemed unable to find her vocal chords.
She takes it upon herself to explain the situation.
"Madison.. Madison is Cheryl's biological daughter." Kimberley begins; she ignores the wide eyes, and parted lips. "She found her recently - well Madison kind of found her way to us, didn't you babe?"
Madison timidly nods.
"So wait," Sally raises her hand, "Cheryl you've had a daughter? Where were you hiding her? What do you mean she found you?"
Cheryl winces to the shooting questions, "I.. I gave.. Gave.." She couldn't find the words, and it was painful to speak of her past so openly.
"Baby," Kimberley leans across Madison, and gives her wife's hand a squeeze, "I'll explain." She whispers, to which Cheryl nods in answer.
"Cheryl was sixteen when she had Madison-"
"So I'm guessing she gave her up?" Diane frowns, "How do you just give up your child? Madison how can you just sit here-"
"Mum!" Kimberley abruptly stands to her feet, she's suddenly angry. "I didn't invite you here for trouble," She takes a deep breath. "We wanted to introduce you lot to our daughter. Enough with the questioning and the fcuking comments."
An awkward silence falls upon them.
Madison's angelic voice cuts through the tension.
"Cheryl gave me up," She takes Cheryl's hand into her own, "She had her reasoning, we've moved past it.. There is no point to question it, it's not going to make a difference.. We wanted to have a nice family day like," She shrugs innocently. "We've got nibblers and whatever else Kimba prepared." The blonde laughs at her daughter's sweetness. "Why don't we get to know each other? It's a lovely day out."
John shrugs, "Don't really have a choice now do we?"
"Of course you have a choice." Madison rolls her eyes, "Nobody is forcing you to stay." Her once sweet tone rises along with the temper she always tried to control.
"Why didn't you at least give us a warning Kim?" John speaks to his daughter, "Why didn't you tell us you had this bomb to drop-"
"Dad," Kimberley grits, "Don't test my patience," She takes another deep breath. "You can't say something like this over the phone, I wanted you lot to be here. We wanted you to meet Madison, if you're not accepting of our daughter.. Then.. Then you should just leave-"
"Kimberley-"
"Cheryl, stay out of it." The blonde snaps back.
The Walsh family remains silent for what seemed like hours.
"You said Kimberley prepared some nibblers?" John addresses the teen with a smile, "How's about we go out there and have a nice chat?" Madison smiles widely, she stands to her feet, resulting to everyone else to stand.
"She's also put a cheese platter together, do you like cheese? I love cheese." The teen rambles, she leads the Walsh family out to the back garden, her hands animatedly waving around as she speaks her mind freely.
Kimberley and Cheryl are left alone.
"Don't ever talk to us like that!" Cheryl hisses, "Especially not in front of your family."
"Well then don't tell me what to do." Kimberley hisses back.
Cheryl groans with impatience, "Argh. Whatever.." She glances to the glassed garden doors and gets a glimpse of a laughing Madison.
"Seems like things are going good," She nods towards the door. "Thank god for that."
Kimberley smiles at the scene, "How do you think your parents will take it?"
"They already know about her," Cheryl sighs softly, she falls into Kimberley's side and places a single kiss to her neck. "Just the thought of me Mam seeing her for the second time since birth gives us anxiety."
"She's going to be over the moon," Kimberley pulls her wife in closer; she wraps her arm with a need to feel the Geordie. "Look at that monkey," She points out Madison's happy aura, "She's already got my lot falling for her charm."
They take in the way Madison speaks so energetically; John, and the rest of the Walsh family enjoy the teen's presence. They laugh and smile at her personality, and soon enough, they find themselves welcoming her into the family.
The doorbell rings, and is followed by several knocks.
"Welp," Cheryl takes a deep breath. "That's me lot." She pulls away from Kimberley and heads over to the front door with the blonde in tow.
The door is swung open, revealing Cheryl's mother, sister, bother, and her little niece and nephew.
"Hello ya little cheeksters!" The Geordie scoops her niece and nephew up into her arms, and greets them with kisses.
"Hey you lot," Kimberley greets the rest of the family. "Come in." She steps aside and welcomes Gillian, Garry, and Joan into their mansion.
"Ah stop!" Elaina squeals in her auntie's arms, "Stop it!" She giggles loudly.
"You's two are getting too adorable for your own good" Cheryl coos over Billy and Elaina, her lips never stop kissing their cheeks.
She loved her family, and she made sure they all knew just how much she appreciated them.
"How have you's been?" Kimberley takes it upon herself to give the Tweedy family her attention, seeing as Cheryl was far too occupied with her niece and nephew.
"Aye we've been alright," Joan smiles at the blonde, "Are you's going to tell us what this get-together is all about?"
Cheryl stills her silly actions and straightens up.
"Elaina, Billy," She speaks sweetly to them, "Why don't you's go into the playroom." With an excited squeal, the brother and sister shoot straight to the room Cheryl and Kimberley put together for them.
"Is there something wrong?" The family stands with questioning expressions.
"Did something happen?" Gillian asks.
"Are you's okay?" Garry asks, concerned for his sister and sister-in-law.
"No," Cheryl laughs lightly. "We're fine.. It's just." The married couple share a nervous look.
"We invited you's today-"
"Kimba!" Madison pops her head around the glassed door and shouts for the blonde.
"Kimbaaaaaa!" She whines.
Before Kimberley gets a chance to reply, the teen huffs and steps back into the home, heading to the front entrance.
"Kimba!" She walks out of the living room and is met by Geordie eyes.
Joan freezes in her place. Suddenly the world stood still, and for the first time in fifteen years, she's seeing someone she'd never thought to see again.
She knows.
A mother always knows.
Her skin, her eyes, her hair - it's her.
"Kimba?" Madison whispers this time, "Erm.. John wants a beer." The teen tears her gaze away from a gawking Joan and meets the comforting blue-greys.
"In a minute," Kimberley takes her daughter's hand. "I want to introduce you to someone."
Madison nods with a shy smile.
She stands beside Cheryl and Kimberley, taking both of their hands into her own.
"This is me family," Cheryl speaks. "We've got your Nana," The words hit home for Joan. "Your Auntie Gillian, your Uncle Garry-"
"Cheryl?" Joan speaks, "Is.. Is.. Is this?" She stammers, to which Cheryl simply nods with teary eyes.
All Joan could do was walk towards the teen, and throw her arms around her.
Madison remains still, but the warmth Joan was exuding comforts her deeply.
She returns the embrace.
"Fifteen years," The older woman muffles her choked up words. "Fifteen." The tears stream down an emotional Joan's cheeks.
"Is that your daughter?" Gillian whispers to her sister. "Is it actually her?"
Cheryl nods again, her emotions matching up to her mothers.
They all watch Joan hold Madison tightly in her arms, crying and sobbing with happiness to finally have her grandchild back in her life.
"Fifteen years."
