Author's POV

Madison giggles, attempting to put Lotus's collar on so they could go for their morning walk. She knew better, her Mam had specifically told her not to go for those walks without her. Cheryl realized how unsafe it was for a teenage girl to be walking the streets before the sun had fully come up. But Madison was stubborn, and she wanted to walk her now growing puppy before school that early morning.

She casually walks out of the house, with Lotus leading the way, she hums with a smile on her face. Things have come to a full turn in her life, she can't remember the last time being so at peace in her own body, her own home, her own life.

These walks were good for her, it was an opportunity to clear her mind, the crisp morning air making it that much more better.

She sighs, smiling. The sun was slowly creeping up, she did love watching the sunrise, but sadly couldn't indulge in it for too long as school had taken over her life.

"Good morning." A friendly stranger smiles, he too walking his dog.

"Good morning." Madison returns the smile, walking in the opposite direction of the stranger. She did love this neighborhood, it was quiet and everyone seemed to wear a smile.

Her parents did a good job with picking out this location.

She returns to their gated home, making sure to close the gate behind her. She wished her walks could last awhile longer, but she didn't like being late to school.

"Come on, baby." She coos, climbing the staircase from the back entrance of their home.

"Madison!" Was the first thing to be heard when she walked into the house, already knowing she was in sh*t.

"I know I know—"

"I'm not having this conversation with you again!" Cheryl says seriously, following her daughter to the teens room. "Do you want to be grounded? You want us to be the bad guy right now—"

"Nothing happened!" Madison shrieks.

"Something could have happened—"

Madison sighs, "Okay, I'm sorry—"

"No! You said that last time!"

"Okay, well, next time I won't."

Cheryl furrows her eyebrows, "Go take a shower you stink." She walks out, leaving Madison alone.

The Teen rolls her eyes and quickly goes into her ensuite for a shower, needing to get ready for school. By the time she showered and got dressed, she could smell breakfast being made, instantly returning a smile to her face.

She keeps the towel wrapped around her head, putting minimal makeup on. Towel drying her hair, she heads downstairs, dressed and ready to go.

"Smells good." Madison smiles, walking into the kitchen where her Mam was platting up some food for her.

"I should let you starve."

"Mam—"

"Don't start. Just eat your food so I can take you to school."

Madison huffs, sitting on the breakfast table and eating the delicious breakfast her Mam has made.

"So, you're just going to stand there?" Madison asks, eating her food.

"I was worried about you."

"But nothing—"

"Let us finish."

Madison remains quiet, eating her food nonetheless.

"I was worried about you. You can't just leave your bloody phone behind and go for your stupid morning walks with that bloody dog. You're a child. You don't know what someone can do to you! It's dark out. You're on your own and without a damn phone too!"

"I forgot it. It's not like I did it on purpose."

"That just shows how careless you are."

"I'm not careless!"

"You're careless when it comes to us. Don't you think it would have been a good idea to let us know that you were going for a walk? How did you expect us to react when I went into your room this morning and didn't find you in there?"

Madison feels like crap at this point.

"I went to call your phone and guess what?" Cheryl asks rhetorically.

Madison doesn't reply.

"Answer us!"

"You found it in my room." She quietly mumbles, shoulders slumped, head down.

"How would you like us to react? You want us to be happy about this?"

"Mam, okay." Madison grumps, "I get it. You don't have to drag it out—"

"Whatever." Cheryl walks out of the kitchen, "I'll be in the car." She slams the front door behind her.

Madison sighs, not hungry anymore. She collects her school backpack and follows her Mam's trail, preparing herself for the awkward ride to school.

She climbs into the Rover, entering to complete silence.

Cheryl begins their journey to her daughter's school, not saying a single word all while.

Madison clears her throat, "I was going to tell my friends to come over after school today."

Cheryl doesn't reply. The last thing she wanted was her daughter's friends over.

"Could you try and not hate me for a second?"

The Mother bites her tongue, stopping at a red light she looks over to her daughter. "You really think it's a good idea to have your friends over today?" She asks.

"Well, I mean, yeah..."

Cheryl sighs, "Whatever you like, it's your world, Madison. I just so happen to live in it." She rolls her eyes and continues their short drive to the school grounds.

"Okay you don't have to be mean about it." Madison says just as her Mam stops the car, quickly she dashes out and heads straight into the school building.

Cheryl sighs, deciding she'll deal with her later. She changes route, not really in the mood to go home right now, she goes over to her wife's bakery instead. Swiftly parking the car and carefully climbing out, her growing belly making it difficult to do anything at this point.

She's instantly greeted with friendly faces and a new face she's yet to know.

"Hello." Cheryl smiles, "You're new I'm assuming?"

Janet nods. "I'm Janet."

"Nice to meet you, uh, is me wife back there?"

Janet nods once more, "She's in the baking room."

Cheryl heads back there, holding her stomach whilst walking. "Babe?"

Kimberley turns around, surprised. She smiles, "Hey baby, what're you doing here?" She dusts her hands from the flour and greets her with a kiss.

"Do you have a minute? And some cake?"

Kimberley chuckles, "I have some time, and a lot of cake. Come on." She wraps an arm around her wife, "Girls I'll be back. Take over my station." She walks out to the front of the shop, taking a seat in an empty booth. "What's the matter?" She pouts.

"Can I have some cake first?"

Kimberley chuckles, scurrying off and returning with a few cakes on a plate. "I got you some milk too." She sets them down in front of her wife and takes a seat beside her.

Cheryl begins her rant, eating the cake whilst doing so. "I want to ring our daughter's neck."

"What'd she do now?" Kimberley smirks, resting her head into her hand as she leans on her elbow, watching her wife closely.

"She never listens to us, she always thinks she's right and nothing I say is best for her. And then she has the fcuking nerve to ask us if her friends could come over today? I could choke her."

"Babe." Kimberley chuckles. "She's a teenager. There will be plenty of times you'll want to ring her neck—"

"She went and walked the dog without us – again! And she didn't even take her phone with her. What if something had happened to her?"

"I'm sure she knows better now."

"I'll lock her up in her room next time around."

Kimberley smiles, reaching out, she puts a few fallen locks behind her wife's ear. "Enough about trouble. Did you have a good sleep?"

Cheryl shrugs, stuffing her face with red velvet cake. "It was fine."

"What're your plans for today, apart from baby checkup. Please make sure to FaceTime me when you go in, yeah? Don't forget." she strokes her wife's hand, seeing her calm down from her rage.

"Why can't you just come?"

"You saw how crazy it is in there. It's like a zoo."

Cheryl pouts.

Earning her a kiss. "Feel better?"

"I still want to ring her neck."

Kimberley laughs. "Us time this week, yeah?"

Cheryl nods. "This is good." She hums, taking a gulp of milk. "I feel better, but I'm not making her dinner today—"

"Cheryl! —"

"I don't care, Kimberley. Her and her friends can kiss my arse for all I care."

_______

"Is it just going to be Lizzie and I?" Heather asks,

Madison nods, eating her lunch. "I'm not a fan of big gatherings." She shrugs.

"Apart from good party of course."

"You're into that?"

Heather shrugs, "I've been to a few good ones."

"I've only gone to one."

"How was that like?"

"I got sh*t face wasted."

They share a laugh.

"That's always a good time."

"Waking up with a raging hangover isn't."

They nod, agreeing.

Lizzie finally makes her way over to them, carrying a tray full of food. "I had to fight someone for the last pack of crisps!" She holds it up, triumphantly.

_______

Cheryl takes a deep breath, holding her tears back as she sees her two babies' heartbeats on screen.

"This is so beautiful," Nicola whispers, holding her best friends hand. "How do you feel?" She asks, gently.

"Incredible." Cheryl sniffles, teary eyed.

"Babies are doing amazing; your weight is exactly where it should be. You're doing everything right; your stress level is a little high today. Try not to overstress yourself as it can result to early labor."

Cheryl huffs, "Tell that to me teenage daughter."

Her daughter chuckles, "Yeah, well I have three of those at home." She smiles the pop-star, "It doesn't get any better, I'll give you that."

Cheryl chuckles.

"They grow up fast, huh?"

Cheryl's smile falters, but she forces it into place. "Yeah, they really do."

"How old is yours?"

"She's fifteen... Soon to be sixteen in a few months." Cheryl clears her throat, she really didn't like talking about her personal life.

"Cherish these moments with her." And finally, she drops the topic. "You're all set to go." Dr. Hordin smiles, whipping the lubricant off Cheryl's large stomach. "See you next month."

______

Madison folds her arms across her chest, tapping her foot.

She's never late.

Why is she late?

She huffs, growing impatient.

"Do you need a ride?" Heather asks, "My Mum's almost here."

"No, no. Mam will be here. Thank you though."

Heather shrugs, "Five, o'clock yeah?"

"Yeah. See you at five!" They share a quick hug, Heather's Mum coming just as they part.

"See you later." They wave each other off.

Madison picks up her phone and rings her Mam, getting no answer.

She calls again, this time growing worried something had happened.

Again.

And again.

And still, no response.

This time, she calls her Mum, getting answer instantly.

"Where's Mam?" She asks straightaway.

"Hi, honey. How are you? Yeah I'm good thanks for asking—"

"Mum I'm being serious right now. Your wife has left me at school and she's not answering any of my calls! I've called her a million times and nothing!"

Kimberley bites her lower lip, typical Cheryl trying to teach someone a lesson.

"She'll come, sweetheart. I'm sure she's just running a little late—"'

"I'll just start walking—"

"Don't you dare. Just wait—"

"Well if she's not going to come on time then I'm not waiting—"

Kimberley grows frustrated with her stubborn daughter, "Don't make me spank you." She hisses, "Wait for your Mam. If she doesn't come within a half an hour then ring me again. I love you, bye." She ends the call.

"I love you, bye." Madison mimics her Mum, she too annoyed.

She huffs, sitting on the curb and waiting. Madison was an impatient soul, she grew fidgety and annoyed when she had to wait for too long.

Sooner than later, Cheryl's Rover pulls up.

Madison stands to her feet and climbs into the back seat, not wanting to talk to her Mam.

"What? You're mad at us?" Cheryl tuts, "Well, I'm mad at you too. So, I guess we'll just drive in silence, exactly the way I like it." She drives, not bothered with her daughters' mood.

Madison rolls her eyes, replying to her friends in a group chat they've created.

Lizzie: Will there be food or shall I bring us some snacks?

Madison: What makes you think I don't have snacks in my house you fat ass!

Heather: Lool! It's always about food with Lizzie

Madison: Don't stress yourself out, I'll have plenty of food. That's if my Mam doesn't murder me when I get home.

Heather: Everything okay?

Madison: She's just being a b*tch right now

Lizzie: My Mum everyday tbh

Madison closes the group chat and scrolls through social media to waste time. She wasn't going to be first to break the silence, she understood where her Mam was coming from, but Cheryl always seemed to take things too far in her eyes.

They arrive to the mansion, Madison is quick to climb out of the car and wait for her Mam to open the grand doors to their home.

No words are exchanged.

Madison huffs, walking into the kitchen and noticing her Mam had gone to the shops and bought loads of snacks and drinks. But, Madison being Madison, she doesn't say anything.

Childish. Cheryl had thought. Her phone rings, taking her attention away from her stroppy teenager, "Hey, baby." She answers. "Yeah, I was in the shops buying a few things. Madison is having a few friends over today, oh she told you? Yeah, yeah. I know, Ha! What time today? Uh. That late? It's okay, baby. Yeah, a lot better. Thank you. Mhm. I love you too, okay, bye, bye, bye , yeah, okay bye. I love you too, bye—"

"JUST HANG UP!" Madison screeches.

Cheryl rolls her eyes, hanging the phone up. "Oh wow, you speak?"

"And you speak too much."

Cheryl raises an eyebrow, "How's about I just don't talk to you at all!"

"That would be great!"

"And I'm taking the snacks I just bought you too!"

"Cool! Take them. I'll let my new friends know that my Mam's an actual cheap fcuk who doesn't let me eat!" Madison argues back, "Hopefully that will make it into the papers in the morning!"

Cheryl rolls her eyes, "Please. Threatening us with the papers isn't going to get us talking to you!"

"I don't want you talking to me!"

"Good! I don't want to anyways!"

They shout back and forth, both standing on either end of the island centered in the kitchen.

"I'll just call the papers now wont I?" Madison pulls out her phone.

"Put it away you moron."

"Don't call me a moron!"

"Well you are." Cheryl rolls her eyes, walking over to the fridge. "Me doctor told us I don't need stress in me life, so hush up." She opens a bottle of sparkling water, leaning against the fridge.

"Those babies are going to be annoying, just like you." Madison says seriously.

"Don't be mean."

"Can't help it. I get it from you!"

Cheryl smirks, setting her bottle down. "Com're."

"What? No."

"We're not actually fighting you lemon, come here."

"Well I am!"

"What are you actually mad about right now?"

"Well for starters, you were late picking me up!"

"I went to stock up the house for you and your friends!" Cheryl explains herself, "You waited ten whole minutes for us! So bloody dramatic."

"Well I didn't ask you to." Madison rests her arms across her chest.

"Shut up and come give us a hug."

"You're the one that started fighting with me this morning."

"Oh yeah," Cheryl puts her arms back down. "I'm upset with you about that, but unlike you, I let things go! If I know you're walking that damn dog by yourself again I'm locking you up in your room." She says, seriously.

Madison rolls her eyes.

Cheryl rolls her eyes.

Madison rolls her eyes.

"Okay that's enough." Cheryl says, stopping her daughter from another eye roll. "I said come give us a hug." She grabs her daughter, pulling her right in, forcing her to stay in place.

Madison relaxes into the cuddle after a short few seconds. "Your stomach is getting in the way." She mumbles.

"Sorry about that, not long left." Cheryl smiles, "You really think the babies are going to be annoying?"

"Probably." Madison releases the cuddle, "Don't think I'm going to be buddy-buddy with them."

"They're your siblings, I'd like to think you will be buddy-buddy." Cheryl strokes her large bump.

"Nope. Not me." Madison walks back over to the large island, looking through the bags of goodies.

Cheryl sighs, slightly worried about the dynamic of their household and how this may be affected.

"What time are your friends coming around?" She changes the subject.

"In an hour or so, why?"

"Well I want to meet them."

"You don't have to."

"I want to know who me daughter is hanging with, I want to."

Madison shrugs, something she wasn't used to. "Up to you."
